She tried a few times to get underwater but was thwarted as she always floated back to the surface. Finally she recalled how Jaci went underwater and copied the move trying her little dog paddle under the water. She was able to stay under for about forty seconds before she was forced to go back up to the surface again.

Jaci popped back to the surface. "Not bad, you're a natural at holding your breath. If you'd just done that you might not have needed rescuing from the faster water." She frowned a little. "But you wast a lot of energy by trying to go under and swim! Streamline your body. Like this!"
Jaci ran up to the nearby shore so that Sephy, as she was now privately calling her, could see what she meant. Jaci kept her front paws close to her body, and the back legs stretched out and together. Even her ears were pinned down close to her head. Otters had such tiny ears they didn't have to do this, but Jaci found it helped a bit, as well as kept some of the water out of her ears!

Persephone analyzed the move before trying a few times herself unsuccessfully. Eventually she was able to copy it and was happily diving underwater. " I see, I see. It is easier to go underwater"
Horus chuckled a bit and munched on a small fish he had caught while the girls where out trying to swim... or swimming in Jaci's case.

"Good! Now let's see how good you are!" Jaci dove back under the water and began chasing after Sephy. Underwater tag was her favorite game, but with no one to play it with usually she only used her speed when catching a very fast fish.

Persephone went along with the game and dived underwater as well. Of course since Jaci had probably been doing this longer than Persephone had she got caught with in a matter of minutes. She was slightly proud though. She was getting better and studying Jaci for more moves to use.

Jaci was grinning. She and Sephy had been playing for about ten minutes. Sephy was a quick learner! She'd managed to tag Jaci back a couple times, once when Jaci was using her fastest speed! But now Jaci was getting hungry.
Because of their frolicking there weren't any fish in the water. Jaci would have to swim a bit to find something promising. She made a motion with her head to signal to Sephy that she was putting the game on hold, then darted off towards the faster water to see if anything was swimming over there.

Persephone nodded and swam towards the shore. She wasnt used to all this swimming so as Jaci went off towards what Persephone could only assume was dinner of some sort she decided it was a perfect time to catch her breath back on dry land.
"you two taking a break?" Horus asked from the rock they had jumped off earlier. Persephone nodded before making a little hole in the sand for her to lay on.

Jaci came trotting up to the two foxes not terribly long after Sephy had settled down. She sported a fish, this one much smaller and more managable for her than the rainbow trout had been when she first met Heru.
She laid the fish down and looking at the lightning kit. "Hungry, Sephy? I'll share." And while the fish would be good, Jaci was thinking next time she'd give another shot at hunting a land critter. Not as easy, but they had a wonderful taste to them.

"Yeah I think I am" Persephone said after her tiny little stomach growled a bit. "thank you for offering" she said after taking her portion and munching away on it. Of course her stomach decided it was going to be a bottomless pit and growled again. "sush you've been fed."
"ah well I should probably do my share of work today too. I'm not as good as Jaci when it comes to fishing but I can get us a rabbit" Horus said standing up.

Jaci looked up at Heru, wonderingly. "Rabbit?" Her voice was a little wistful. "You mean you can actually catch one?" Jaci had only had rabbit once, a little left over from another kill. It wasn't quite fresh, but it had still tasted great. Much better than mice or squirrel!

"well they are a bit tricky, but yeah I can catch one. I take it from both of your hunger filled stares you would like if I did so" Horus chuckled. Suddenly his ears went up and he looked over towards the sound smiling. "you two stay right here and I'll be back in a second."
"rabbits are good. Dad catches them all the time. Although I suppose its easier to sneak up on them when you can fly" Persephone giggled a bit looking forward to it.

"I can sneak up on 'em just fine. I'm too little to take one out though," Jaci said, a little sourly. "Anything that's bigger than a squirrel usually is one par with my weight on land. It's hard to hunt."

"ah I was always told that if you put your mind up to it you can always get what you want. Even if we are on the little side if we use our brains and find away... mmm that sounded a little redundant. Well I cant fish as good so when I get older I'll get the land food and you can get the water food" Persephone smiled.

Jaci laughed, playfully nudging Sephy. "How'm I gonna follow ya, eh? I might be a fast swimmer, but fliers are faster!" Not to mention Jaci had a small fear of heights. If they stayed over water she might not have minded flying with a 'phim, but it was quite an impractical way to travel when the whole sky was open to you.

"mmm well I'll go and scout you down when I get in the fish eating mood. Besides my other daddy lives around here so I'll always come back and we can meet here every few months or something." Persephone scrunched up her nose trying to figure this out. "Besides flying isnt so bad. I guess it could be if you were afraid of heights but if some one else is doing the flying and you close your eyes it isnt so bad. Heights is all about seeing the ground."
