I think that the isometric layout and resulting differences in the cointrol system affected the general feel, as well. That's why I was so surprised when Sega produced Flickies' Island: their previous isometric Sonic outing'd been fairly effectively panned by critics and gamers alike.

I do think that was as much the slowness as the viewpoint, though.

I think Tails Sky Patrol was the worst of the sonic games ( if we can call it a Sonic game) since Tails was vulnerable to almost everything, on my opinion the game was pointless (just a way to pass time).
About Mean Bean Machine you get the hang of it (finished the game...no cheats...though that was when I was younger, let's say by the time it was released on Portugal....whenever I try to play that game nowadays I end up losing).
I think Sonic 3D (genesis) is playable though it's not that interesting and had to start it all over again whenever I turned off the console and then turned it back on. But I finished the game with cheats and without them.
About Sonic Heroes...the storyline was not the best between the sonic games (those who had one of course)...the gameplay was original but weird. About the rest I can't complain.
Well I don't have anything to say about Sonic Shuffle since I don't have that game.
The latest sonic games many people say they're bad I would like you could tell why?

Does Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine count? If so I nominate that.

Symos Does Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine count? If so I nominate that. It was certainly a departure from the Sonic norm, although it was interesting to have Scratch & Grounder in it. I have to admit, I was never a fan. I like to have big levels to blast through, not play Tetris... DW

The thing with a Tetris-style title is that the aesthetics're pretty much the only things you can really change, because the concept's so simple.

I thought Mean bean machine was the best puzzle game ever. And my favorite part was the versus mode, not only because outwitting your friends is great, but also because the music in 2-player mode was the complete and utter s**t.

I wasn't referring to MBM specifically as much as tetris/puyo pop rewrites in general.

3D Blast...
It was just a slowdown to the series....weak controls...and slow paced gameplay...
gah...the opening level's background music haunts me in my dreams scream
