Allowing her eyes to close, Mikomi relaxed as she drew in a deep breath. It was nice and sunny outside without being to hot, which was a nice change from the usuall weather around where she and her mother lived. The spirit smiled lightly as she enjoyed the sounds of nature around her. She had become... less tense at the world in general, no longer afraid of her own shadow. Still wary of newcomers, she often just withdrew and clammed up, not really wishing convorsation, but after a while she would warm up and speak with them.
She enjoyed the change in her demenor, be it ever so slight. She found that nature was a wonderful way to relax, and she often caught herself staring at flowers, simply amazed by their colors. She had also had become interested in a few different fighting styles, and would often read all she could on them, their history, their techniques, she found it all interesting.
Also, she and her mother were getting along even better then before, which could be expected seeing as she no longer clung to her mother's legs like a frightened lamb. They could do more together without fear of something getting in the way of her happiness. They especially enjoyed going to the open market just to look at all the things that they had for sale.
Opening her eyes, Mikomi smiled. Yes, today was to be a beautiful day.
She was going to make sure of it.

Earphones covered Mikomi's ears as she sat in the living room. She herself had sensitve hearing and didn't have the volume on too high. Smiling, she closed her eyes as on of her favorite songs played.
STRU.
I sing to life and to it's tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall; i've lived through it all
Ci chiama...
As she listened she found herself swaying ever so slightly and mouthing the words that she knew, especially the english ones. She hadn't figured out the other language as of yet, though she had a strong inkling that it was italian. As she turned off the CD player she smiled. Riyana would probably like that song. She would have to recomend it next time she saw her.

[Private RP-Dis-in progress] Mizu_Taji [[Setting: The Lanturn Shop]] Bright eyes darted across the pages that sat in front of the silent spirit. Cross-legged and still, she sat in a rather squishy and soft looking pillow chair, her eyes dancing in the book she was reading. The only other movement aside from her breathing was when she stopped every so often to pick up a plain mug filled with tea, though while still warm, no longer steamed. Taking a few sips then putting it down, her eyes began their waltz as she picked up where she had left off.
'Must remember to thank mom for bringing me the thermos' she noted in thought as she stopped to take another sip. Her adoptive parent was always happy to see Mikomi go off without her, even if it was just to read, and was always bringing her little snacks and drinks to be enjoyed at her conveniance.Disinclined Riyana quietly entered the shop, her movements ghost-like and quiet. Though the lanturn had become much more social and open since her growth, she still didn't like to make much of a spectacle. It had been awhile since she'd last visited the shop, and the girl hoped to run into one of her friends.
How had Toshi been? Or Dusk, for that matter? She really needed to drop by and see her dear-friend Braedan, too! Peeking around, the girl felt a small smile cross her lips as a more mature figure crossed her sight. That couldn't be - but it was! "Mikomi!" Riyana chirped, her usually shadowed eyes briefly lighting.
The last she'd met the girl, the little spirit had been so small! Now they were both of similar height - obviously something had happened, something had taken place in Riyana's absense!
Had she really been gone that long?
Only too late did Riyana notice the book in her friends lap. Oops. Maybe the girl didn't want to be disturbed? Well, it was too late to take back her words. Taking a few steps closer, Riyana hoped her friend didn't mind a spot of company.
Mizu_Taji Ears perked, or as much as ears could perk, at the sound of another voice, one she recognized yet had not heard for some time. Placing her finger in the spot where she had just been reading, she gave a small yet joyful smile as she blushed at being caught in her own little world.
"Riyana!" she said with a small laugh. It had been a while since they last spoke with each other, when she was small and much more easily frightened. Clumsily she patted about for her bookmark as to be able to keep her full attention on her friend. Feeling it in her fingers, she picked it up and placed it where her finger was once before, then set the book to the side as she stood to greet her blue hued companion.
"Riyana!" she said again. "It's been so long! How have you been?..." she then forcefully silenced herself, feeling as though she was asking a few too many questions at once...even though she only asked one.
Disinclined The lanturn was pleased at Mikomi's delight upon seeing her. It had been such a long time since she'd seen her friend, and how the other had changed! The girl, once so shy and easily frightened, seemed much more receptive!
The blue spirit could relate, though - once she'd been very shy, wary and defensive about everyone and eveyrthing. Very few could draw her out of her shadows, very few could get her to smile. Thankfully, with a little more experience, Riyana had found strength to overcome her barriers. Well, at least some of them. Ever since she'd grown, she'd felt so much more . . . . affectionate. So much more caring and had an odd desire to be close to those she cared about.
Riyana's own smile grew brighter (along with her light-blue aura) and the girl bridged the gap between Mikomi and herself. Riyana knew she wouldn't be nearly this forward with a complete stranger - but Mikomi was one of the small few she knew and liked.
"It has been awhile, hasn't it?" She repeated, voice soft but amicable. Sitting down beside Mikmoi, Riyana tugged a bit shyly upon her dress. "I've been well," she started, eyes dimming briefly. "A bit - a bit lonely, perhaps, I've missed you all so much!" The girl quickly blurted out, admitting it to herself and Mikomi. It was rare for Riyana to show insecurity, but Mikmoi was one to be trusted. "Devan took me out on . . vacation." Shrugging her thin shoulders, the girl smiled.
"What of you? How've you been? And . . . " A bit more shyly, she peeked at Mikomi's book. "What might you be reading?"
How she loved to read - it was wonderful to see another with a book. Perhaps she and Braedan weren't the only ones to enjoy literature. How wonderful to find another book worm in her group!
Mizu_Taji With a small smile the lanturn nodded and sat once more as her friend spoke. How very true, about being so lonely. So very few people have been around, have been availible. She of course didn't have many friends to begin with, just Arian who had gone off somewhere, and Riyana, who finally returned.
"It is odd, how the heart grows fonder when it is apart from the ones it cares for," she said with a whimsical sigh, then slightly laughed at her sudden philosophical state. "I'm certain that I have missed just as much," she said with a small smile.
Mikomi flushed when asked about herself. She almost always did, being perhaps one of the least self-centered being to the fact she became slightly embarassed talking about what things have happened in her life.
"Well..." she started "as it can be plainly seen, I've gotten bigger. Mom...I mean my gaurdian, purchased a lanturn at the shop and well..." laughing meakly she shrugged. "I'm sure you know the rest of the story..." She let silence pass for a few moments before speaking again. "I've been spending a good bit of my time here reading or with my gaurdian, working on our little garden and what not. Things have been so quiet here..." She sighed, her eyes darting about, and as they fell on her book she recalled that the lanturn asked about it.
"Oh...this? It is nothing special..." she said, picking it up. "Tayne has gotten me into the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This is the second one, 'The Two Towers'. I jump from genre to genre, depending on my mood." Giving her head a curious tilt, she peered from the book to Riyana. "Do you like to read?" Disinclined Riyana couldn't help but agree. It was true that the heart grew fonder the longer it was away - strange, really, but it was one of the facts of life. At least, with her heart as fond as it was of her small handful of friends, she was back and could truly appreciate their presence.
"You look absolutely fantastic," Riyana announced, her blue eyes light with good nature. She spoke no lie - her friend truly was a sight to behold! She was much more solid in appearance, and it seemed to rub off on her personality too. She didn't seem quite as skittish as she'd been in previous days of old.
That made Riyana very happy indeed.
"I do like to read," the girl admitted, peering curiously down at the book. Lord of the Rings? Riyana hadn't had an oppurtunity to ever read such books. They were thick novels, much thicker than she was used to reading. But they looked . . . interesting. "I prefer fantasy settings, though I'll read just about anything that has words."
She wasn't a fast reader, and she still had trouble with literacy on occassion - but she enjoyed the books she did finish and was working on improving her reading level. WIth help from Braeden and his extensive library, as well as a few books scattered throughout Devan's apartment, her talant with letters was slowly improving.
Mizu_Taji "Th...thanks..." Mikomi studdered at the comment on herself. She herself didn't think the change was all that extrodinary, but then it was Mikomi after all. After letting the oddness she felt pass she smiled at Riyana again.
"You'd like these books then," she said with a nod. "It's all about..." she stopped, not wanting to spoil the story line. "Well, it's an interesting fantasy tale to say the least." It was nice to see that someone liked to read besides her.
"What have you read recently Riyana? Anything interesting?"

[Self RP] Tayne clinged to herself, her thin jacket not very good at keeping the cold out as she walked down the street, looking in the windows of all the shops. She finally got a job at one of these little botiques as she finally desided to go to college online, and with the Sanderson's no where to be found, she needed to be able to pay for food, even though the bills seemed to magically pay themselves. It was all very odd, but it was the day after christmas and she really didn't want to think about it right now. Mikomi had headed off ahead of her to get to a shop that she had gotten a coupon from Kaze and Arian to get a little pet of some sort. Arian was not her secret santa, but being friends the green fellow desided to get her something anyway. She and Mikomi returned the favor by purchasing two bags from Kaze's favorite antique shop. She was sure her friend and adopted son would enjoy them, whatever it was. The place always had nice things there. As she passed one of the windows however, she saw a little girl that looked oddly like a reindeer peering at her, sterling indigo eyes blinking happily. The girl tapped the window and motioned her to come into the shop, and after much debate she did, if anything to get out of the cold for a while. "May I help you little one?" The girl was no more then a foot in height, purple and gold hair glistening in the light of the store. The girl nodded and began to clamber up to the counter to get higher up. "Yesum! Are you Tayne by any chance?" the little one asked. Tayne nodded slowly, wondering how she could know her name. "Yes....and you are?" The girl seemed to squeak for joy. "I am Uria! I was adopted by a Miss Kaze to be given to a Miss Tayne and her family! I make an exellent addition to any family, and I don't eat all that much...and..." The girl continued to prattle on and on for a while before Tayne finally stopped her, laughing a little bit. "Okay there Uria! I get it! Welcome to the family!" she said as she placed the little one on her shoulder. "Now let's go find Mikomi so you can meet her." Mikomi pushed the door open and walked out of the shop, black cat like creature in her hands. The shop owner said the thing had no gender, yet she felt like it was a boy, and affectionatly named him Zurr. He was a bit musty and smelled a bit odd, but she didn't mind. She thought he looked the cutest out of all the other creatures there. She would have to show Arian the next time she saw him and thank him and his mum for such a nice gift.
"M'kay Zurr. Let's go meet Mama and show you off!" she said with an uncharacteristic chime in her voice, and Zurr purred happily, blinking his coal black eyes at her. Patting him gently she moved him to her shoulders, which he draped around and held his head up as if keeping watch.
Twump. Something hit her in the head rather hard, sending her down to the ground and Zurr sprawling. After regaining his composure he darted off to see if his new friend was okay, who was still on the ground, though alive and concious.
"Owie..." she sniffled as she rubbed the lump on her head. That hurt really bad...Looking around, she found the thing that hit her, a floating world like the one she had at home. It had a message attached to it.
'Merry Chirstmas Mikomi! I hope to get to know you soon! Tell your mom I said hi!
Love Grandpa Conleth'
Grandpa Conleth? She didn't have a grandpa, lest one named Conleth... As she got up she saw Tayne, a frightened look on her face...

[PRP- Arian and Mikomi] Mizu_Taji [[Setting: The cafe close to the shop]] Mikomi looked out of the large window of the cafe whistfully, watching all the people as they passed by. Things had been so uneventful for such a long time, and now she had run into one of her few friends just a few days earlier.
So many different people...
Here, alone in her little booth, Mikomi had some time to think. Think about Tayne, and how late she was at meeting her here, about Riyana and how nice it was to see her again...and about Arian.
She hadn't seen him for such a long time. Of what she could gather he had went off somewhere, where that somewhere was still needed to be figured out. That's where Riyana went...somewhere. She wondered if they had met up at all. She should've asked when she had the chance...kaze1981 It had been a few days since Arian had visited the lanturn shop - three to be exact.
Three since he'd met Vidali, a little blue lanturn spirit about the size of Mikomi.
The unicorn spirit was heading back towards the lanturn shop again to pick up some ingredients for Kaze to whip up a batch of cookies but his progress was slow as he was peeking curiously into some of the shop windows along the way. Some of the shops that he remembered didn't seem to be there anymore - like the shop he'd gone to look at the pretty stones and the post office wasn't where he remembered it to be.
There were new shops to - quite a few of them in fact.. Actually Arian remember there being quite that many shops before, but maybe that was a new thing, something that had happened while he'd been gone.
The words "Special of the Day - Banoffee Pie" on a board hanging outside what looked like a cafe caught his eye, his messy jade-green hair - braided as always swinging as he paused to take a look at the picture drawn next to the words of what looked like some sort of banana-type pie. Mizu_Taji Bright eyes flickered back and forth...where exactly was Tayne? She was supposed to be here about ten minutes ago, but then again she wasn't exactly sure. The clock inside might be a bit fast. She scanned the people as they walked by, stopping in front of the sign. There was a man walking his dog...a woman with a child...a boy with a horn... a...
Wait...a boy with a horn?
Mikomi blinked and stared a bit, though she knew that staring was often considered rude. That boy looking at the sign...could it be Arian? It had to be. There was no other person on earth with a horn, jade hair, and wings. Leaning over she tapped on the window with a smile to get his attention. kaze1981 Banana and toffee and chocolate sprinkles - the whole thing looked really interesting, especially the whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles... And bananas was one of his favourites... Arian wondered if he could talk Kaze into making it for him some time...
Or maybe he could just make it himself.. After all how hard could it...
The tapping of the glass caught his attention, distracting Arian from the 'special of the day board' and serving to focus his attention more clearly on the inside of the cafe.
The source of the tapping came from a purple girl around his height who kind of looked sort of familiar, although the unicorn spirit was pretty sure he didn't know any purple girls the same size as him.. The only purple girl he knew was Mikomi, although he hadn't seen her since just before Kaze came back on the trip she'd gone on when she'd left him with Uncle Kori and soon after he'd gone with Kaze.
The purple girl was smiling at him so he gave her a broad smile back. Mizu_Taji Mikomi waved, though was worried. Didn't he recognize her. Sure, it had been a while, but still... Wasn't she worth remembering? It was all very saddening and confusing...
Then it hit her. Of course she would seem different to him! She was bigger and older, and he hadn't seen that version of her yet. Trying to think quick, she attempted to think of a way to show that she was indeed Mikomi and not just some other purple girl, though she hadn't met any other purple girls...Could he hear her through the glass?
"Arian!" she said a bit louder then she intended, the few people who were here looked at her and then went about their drinks and food. kaze1981 Now the girl was waving at him, almost as if she knew him. Which was really really weird since if that was the case shouldn't he know her too...?
And she still looked kind of familiar as though he ought to know her - though he didn't really.
The fact that he should was bugging him though, like a puzzle that was missing too many pieces and.. And...
The best way to find out something you don't know is to ask.
Mind made up Arian pushed open the cafe door, the tinkling of the bell kind of reminding him of the bell in the lanturn shop.
It was only a matter of taking a few steps after that to reach the girl's table.
"Umm... Hi?" he asked the the girl, his smile was slightly nervous now. "Do we know each other? It's just you kind of look familiar and I feel like I should know you from somewhere, but I can't remember." Mizu_Taji Even though she knew that most likely that he wouldn't remember her with her new change, Mikomi felt a tinge of...saddness that he couldn't piece it together. Was she that different? She herself couldn't tell anymore...
He did say that he remembered her...or knew that he should...that was a start...
"Arian...It's me, Mikomi..." she said softly, sitting back down in her seat, smile a bit softer.
"It's been awhile...How have you been?" kaze1981 "Mi..ko..mi..." Arian looked startled at the girl's words. "Really?!" Actually come to think about it she did kind of look like the Mikomi he knew... Well except for the taller part - make that the much taller part.
"You got bigger, you're the same size as me now! When did that happen? Was it while Mum and me were gone? Or was it just recently?"
Arian flopped down on an empty seat, curling his tail around the legs carefully so that it wouldn't get trodden on almost automatically before wondering if he should have done that. It had been ages since he'd seen Mikomi and although he'd liked her a lot back then..
Had thought even that she might be one of his friends like Aikori was - but then he and Kaze had left before he could ask and now she she was big like him and she'd probably made other friends and...
He gave Mikomi an embarrassed smile before looking down at the table slightly. "Sorry I didn't recognise you" his voice was slightly mumbled as he wondered if Mikomi even remembered them drawing leaves together in the park. "Mum and I've been gone ages and ages and we only finished moving into Mum's place two weeks ago." Mizu_Taji Mikomi laughed a little and flushed slightly. Now that was more like it. It was so nice to see him again!
"It happened almost right after you left..." she started. "Mom got me a pretty lanturn and well, now I'm bigger," she finished with a small smile. Tilting her head, she heard something of intrest in his words.
"Oh, you're not living with your Uncle Kori anymore?" she asked with curiousity. She wondered what happened, but really didn't want to press the matter any more then it has to be pressed. kaze1981 Arian's smile slowly lost the embarassed tinge to it as Mikomi laughed - after all she was laughing - that was good right?
"No we're not - When we came back Mum said we were going to get a place of our own and when I asked why said something about it being time that she..." He scrunched up his face slightly in thought "Stopped mooching off Uncle Kori's kindness. We still go and see Uncle Kori through - Mum usually goes twice a week and sticks food in the fridge, because Uncle Kori's kind of hopeless like that."
Arian made a face "Uncle Kori's still a meanie though and he still calls me a brat."
He smiled again "But what about you? What have you been doing?" Mizu_Taji Mikomi swung her feet a little and sighed.
"I haven't been doing too much...just reading and gardening with Mom for the most part..." she said with a tinge of saddness. "Things have been going so slowly around here...So many people left...there wasn't all that many people at the shop...Not that I minded it all that much actually. It was quiet there for once. It's a nice place to read when there aren't that many people there..." She then laughed a bit again.
"But look at me! Blabbing on about how boring I am! I'm sure you had much more fun out and about with your mum, no?" kaze1981 Arian blinked "Lots of people left?" He asked Mikomi curiously. He wondered who - was it a lanturn he knew? Not that he knew that many of them - appart from Mikomi there was Aikori and he vaguely remembered Toshi, Hikari and Dusk from before...
"Talking about the shop - I met a new spirit there. He was your size.." Arian flushed slightly - it was going to take a bit of getting used to Mikomi being the same height as him. "Erm I mean the size you used to be and he had an arm that was completely made of metal which I thought was cool. he didn't mind answering my questions either."
He smiled at Mikomi "Travelling with Mum was fun, though strange as well since we saw quite a lot of places. Having lessons with her were fun too and I got to do lots of drawing. We never did any gardening though." He looked at Mikomi "What sort of stuff do you and Tayne grow? Is it stuff to eat? Or pretty things like flowers?" Mizu_Taji Mikomi grinned. It was nice to hear Arian, questions and all again.
"Bits of both...though we grow more flowers then we do things to eat...We don't worry about things rotting or getting eaten as much..." she said whistfully. "We have been trying to grow a small patch of pumpkins though...but they haven't turned out all too well...Mom says we don't have the right dirt for it..." She meakly smiled again.
"Funny how plants can be so picky sometimes..." RP status: in progress...

[PRP-Arian and Mikomi] kaze1981 Arian wandered towards Miss Irisa's cafe, his head down and emerald eyes deep in thought, although for once his mind was on finding out about lanturns.. Well not completely anyway.
More he was thinking about his Mum and the conversation he'd had with her a couple of days ago, about why she hadn't gone and seen Uncle Kori this week.
The whole thing had been kind of.. Weird...
Almost as if, as if...
She didn't really want to talk about Uncle Kori.
Mum had seemed kind of nervous abpout something and when he'd pushed about Uncle Kori she'd gotten irritable which was even more weird since normally she tried to encourage him to go visit Uncle Kori.
Arian sighed. And he'd wanted to ask Mum about when she'd bought his lanturn, see if maybe she could tell him something before he tried asking at the shop... After all maybe she knew something - Miss Irisa had said that he should try looking at the source and since his Mum had bought the lanturn that meant she was kind of part of the source too wasn't she.
Wasn't she?
He wasn't sure what to think which is why he'd decided to go to Miss Irisa's coffee shop. Then he could buy one of her milkshakes and try and figure out something to do. Mizu_Taji Mikomi was walking through the streets of the town, looking for something to occupy her time. Tayne was working at her job, all her plants were happy and watered without a weed in sight, and she could have sworn she had read every book in her house at least five times. Perhaps she could get something to eat...Tayne slept in later then usual and Mikomi hurried her off instead of her being late by making her lunch. She had been saving up anyway, if any reason to put something in her quaint little purse that Arian was kind enough to give her.
Eyeing the shops, she waited to see if any of the food providers caught her attention. Instead, the color of jade hair caught her eye. Exited eyes darted back and forth before she crossed the street.
"Arian!" she called. "Hey there Arian!" kaze1981 Arian looked up, his emerald eyes kind of startled at the sound of his name, although he recognised the purple spirit soon enough. "Hi Mikomi," he smiled, although the smile wasn't quite his normal cheerful one. "How are you doing? Thanks for the presents you and Tayne got me for Christmas. I forgot to thank you for them last time I saw you."
Dimly a part of him wondered if she'd like the presents that he'd bought for her from a marketholder in the upper market district.
Another part of him felt distracted though, still caught between trying to puzzle out how to find out information on his lanturn as well as his Mum's weird behaviour. Mizu_Taji The pale purple spirit smiled slightly and blushed. She was glad that Arian indeed liked his gifts.
"I'm glad you liked them Arian, and thank you for your gifts!" She turned a little bit to show him that she was using her change purse he had given her, then laughed slightly. "I'm having a bit of trouble with the paints though...I keep making it too watery and it goes right through the paper..." She laughed again, feeling rather stupid.
Looking at him though, she gad a feeling that something wasn't quite right. Perhaps it was that he didn't seem as chipper as he usually was, or perhaps it was that he didn't ask her any questions like he usually did, or it could even have been his eyes giving it away. Mikomi wasn't sure, but she was pretty sure that something was bothering her friend.
But she could be wrong too.
"Uhh..." she started, then looked to her feet for a moment, then looked back up at him again.
"Where are you headed?" There. Maybe if she waited a little she could tell for certain something was wrong. kaze1981 For a moment Arian gave Mikomi a bright smile "You like them?" He noticed she was carrying the purse he'd bought for her to keep her money in. "I wasn't sure what to get you but the purse seemed pretty and it was purple so I thought you might like it and then he had some paints too so I bought them as well." He paused for breath before adding. "I'm glad you like them."
Mikomi was looking down at her feet when he'd finished and Arian wondered if was to do with something he'd said - maybe to do with what she'd said about having trouble with the paints, however the words out of her mouth wasn't what he was expecting.
"Umm, I was going to go to the coffee shop - the one that does the bana-type pie and get a banana milkshake from there." The smile was gone again. "The old lady there, her name's Miss Irisa - her banana milkshakes are really nice." The distracted look was back in his eyes, his tail twitching a little. Mizu_Taji "Oh? I don't think I've been there..." Mikomi noted. It seemed like both of the spirits were feeling, out of place, or at least Mikomi did. Arian was obviously heading here by himself, and God forbid that she should intrude. Perhaps this Miss Irisa was nice and Arian wanted to talk to her. She didn't want to get in the way.
"Well, I guess I'll see you later then..." Arian was obviously deep in thought and Mikomi really didn't want to bother him any more then she needed to. "I hope you enjoy yourself at Miss Irisa's shop," she said truthfully and with a small smile. "Perhaps we can get together later!" and with that she turned to go on her way. kaze1981 "Oh? Miss Irisa's really nice" Arian said in answer to Mikomi's comment of not being there. "She's really old though - much older than Mum is. Do you want to um come along with me?"
Maybe I can tell her about my dectective work... I could ask her about lanturns too. Maybe she knows something about them since she came from a lanturn like me...
He paused, the last of Mikomi's words filtering in around his thoughts - the sudden realisation catching him that she probably had things to do.
He looked down at his boots, the slight scuff marks on them suddenly very interesting - maybe inviting her was a bad idea - she looked kind of busy.
"Sorry, I hadn't realised you were busy. Getting together some time sounds fun though. Maybe you could come over to our new place some time. I could show you my new floating trees, since I've quite a few of them now. Mizu_Taji "Busy? I'm not busy at all...it just seems..." She stopped a few moments. "Well it seemed like you were...and that you've been thinking...and some people like to think by themselves and I just thought..." She felt REALLY stupid now, and Arian probably thought that she was trying to avoid him, which she wasn't. She was just trying to help.
"...I'm sorry..." kaze1981 "I'm not really busy either," Arian admited. "Normally today's a maths day, but Uncle Kori hasn't checked the last bit of work I did yet and I'm not going to ask Uncle Kori about it because he'll just be his usual mean self."
And I didn't want to ask Mum about it either as she's being so weird about Uncle Kori, but I don't know why. He added to himself mentally.
"I am going to think at Miss Irisa's though" he admitted to Mikomi. "But I don't mind if you come too - that is if you want to come. Miss Irisa's really is really nice."
He added quietly "And I kinda see you as one of my friends... Even though I only have two - you and Aikori." The words spoken were so quiet that they were almost a mumble. Mizu_Taji "Okay...if you don't mind me being there..." Mikomi said with a very meek smile. She then laughed a little bit even though it felt a bit out of place.
"Math confuses me...I don't really get it at all..." she admitted. "I'm sure you're good at it though Arian. You're smart like that..." She walked up to him and smiled again, not really hearing his mumbles.
"And I'll be sure to keep quiet while you think..." kaze1981 "Actually I hate Maths" Arian admited. "Especially fractions and stuff like that - which are really hard... Especially since Uncle Kori never explains anything." He started walking again in the direction of the cafe.
"And no I don't mind you being at Miss Irisa's with me. Why would I?" He was puzzled - after all if he didn't want Mikomi to come along he'd have told her he didn't want her to come, or told her that he was busy or something. Mizu_Taji "Really? I'm surprised, but then again fractions are tricky..." she said somewhat quietly. "And your Uncle Kori still visits? I know you and your mum don't live with him anymore, so he must come by to see how you're doing with math...or doesn't he live all that far away?" kaze1981 Arian frowned "It's not really that Uncle Kori visits us - more that we go visit him. Mum says we have to go because he'd get lonely being on his own, although he isn't really on his own because he has a boyfriend, although Mum's told me not to call him that and told me to keep away from him." The unicorn spirit paused for breath, wondering if he should tell Mikomi about the rest of it - about part of what was bothering him.
He saw Mikomi as a friend and friends were supposed to trust each other... Weren't they...
Weren't they?
But she'd never told him that they were friends and he hadn't asked her either.
But he'd kind of come to think of her as a friend, just like Aikori and him were friends... And...
"Mikomi are we friends?" He blurted out suddenly, speaking the question that was topmost on his mind.
Without realising it he'd stopped walking. Mizu_Taji "Oh...I see..." she responded, going into a bit of thought.
Mikomi had kept on walking for a few moments, too full of though to have noticed that Arian's voice was fading ever so slightly. After a few steps she heard his question and in all honesty it worried her, though it didn't take much for her to get worried.
"I...I hope we are...I mean...I'd like us to be friends...I've only really talked to two people for long periods of time, you being one of them..." She paused for a moment. "And your mum and my mom seem to get along as well...it only make sence...I mean, that is if you want me to be your friend...I can understand if you don't though..." She cut herself off. She had a tendacy to ramble sometimes when she was nervous or upset. Right now it was a bit of both. kaze1981 Arian felt a sense of relief at Mikomi's words. So she did think of him as a friend.
He'd been worried that the friendship was only on his part as... The rest of Mikomi's words filtered in distracting him from his thoughts.
"Why wouldn't I want you to be your friend?" His voice was puzzled. "I only have two friends - Aikori and now you." He frowned again "I wouldn't have gotten you a Christmas present if I didn't like you and Mum likes you as well as your Mom you know." Mizu_Taji Mikomi laughed a bit in relief, even though she felt even better on the inside. Unable to contain herself she threw herself at him and hugged him tightly. Then her sence of modesty kicked in and she let go and backed off, feeling quite embarassed.
"I...uh...I'm sorry about that Arian...It's just nice to know I have a friend..." she tried to explain. kaze1981 Arian blushed - he hadn't been expecting that! "Yes" he said smiling brightly. Knowing where he stood with Mikomi friends-wise kind of made him sort of warm inside.
Kind of like the warm he felt when his Mum hugged in, or made a special treat for him.. But at the same time not the same.. Different...
Putting aside the feeling to think on later, the unicorn spirit started walking again.
Maybe he could talk to Mikomi about the stuff on his mind after all - after all she'd said herself that they were friends.. And friends shared stuff...
Didn't they?
"We're almost at Miss Irisa's shop" he told Mikomi. "Though for some reason she likes people to call her Iris, because she says 'Miss Irisa' makes her feel old." Mizu_Taji "Really? I think Miss Irisa has a nice ring to it...but if that's what she preffers then I'll try my best to remember to call her that..." she said with a small smile as she started to walk along side her friend. Her eyes watched the signs of the buildings, seeing if she could pick out the shop, but then again Arian never really said the name of the place unless it was indeed called 'Miss Irisa's Coffee Shop'. It sounded like a start anyway, so those were the words she looked for. kaze1981 Arian paused by a red painted door, the words 'Garden Café' written in black. To the left of the door was a medium-sized board with the word 'Specials' on the top, beneath it written in chalk was 'banana split', 'carrot and orange cake'.
"Here we are" he told Mikomi brightly. "Miss Irisa's banana milkshakes are really, really good."
Glancing at the 'Specials' board he wondered whether Miss Irisa's banana split tasted as good as the banana cake she'd let him try the last time he was there. Mizu_Taji Mikomi looked at the door that they had stopped in front of, making sure to read the sign and the specials board carefully. It seemed rather nice, this little shop, and if anything she was looking forward to spending time with her friend. After all, that's what friends do...
Right?
With a small smile Mikomi enjoyed the look of the place. kaze1981 Arian pushed the door open, hearing the small tinkle of the bell chime almost simultaneously.
Heading up to the till area, he smiled at the old lady sitting behind the till. The old lady smiled her brown eyes twinkling "Back again young man. How is your detective work going?" Arian shook his head "Not too well" he said quietly.
"Though your advice about looking back at the source helped."
Although I kinda need to talk to Mum about my lanturn and she's being kind of weird right now...
Miss Irisa shook her head, wisps of white hair escaping her bun "I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad my advice could help you a little though" Brown eyes peered behind him to look at Mikomi "And who's this? Is she helping you?" Arian brightened "This is my friend Iris. Her name's Mikomi." He looked at Mikomi with a smile "Mikomi this is Iris - she makes really good banana milkshakes and she's really nice." Mizu_Taji Mikomi flushed and tensed up a little as the woman caught a glimpse of her. Even though Arian said she was nice, and the fact that she seemed rather nice, the poor spirit's timid nature once again took a hold of her. She managed to smile meakly and nod a little bit.
"Plea...pleased to meet you Miss...uh...I mean Iris..." She caught herself right on time. That was close. kaze1981 Miss Irisa chuckled at Mikomi "It looks like someone's been talking. A cute little someone with a horn and tail. Although you're cute as well." she looked mischievously at Arian before giving the girl a gentle smile. "So are you trying to be a detective too like young Arian?" Arian found himself blushing slightly at Miss Irisa's words. It was one thing to be called 'cute' on the off-hand, and the 'young man' didn't really bother him too much as he'd overheard his Mum say that old people though every one was young.
Being called cute in front of Mikomi however felt different, more embarassing...
Although she'd called Mikomi cute as well, so maybe it was an old person thing - although he wasn't sure he'd tell Miss Irisa that.Mizu_Taji The pale purple spirit girl looked at Iris for a moment, slightly confused with what she was asking.
"De...tective? I...I don't think I am one right now..." she mused out loud to herself. "Then again I could be and not know it...after all I didn't know Arian was one...All he said was that he was coming here to think..." She was becoming even more confused. Why hadn't Arian said that he was looking for something? Perhaps the lady was confused? kaze1981 Miss Irisa looked at the confused Mikomi, then at Arian, a glint somewhat mischievous in her brown eyes "So young Miss - I take it that young Arian hasn't told you about his investigations." Arian looked down at the floor, noting to himself that the polished wood was looking interesting around about now.. Very interesting...
The unicorn spirit had only vaguely got round to the thinking that he might tell Mikomi about trying to find out about lanturns and why some people came from them and some didn't.
He hadn't expected Miss Irisa to ask Mikomi about being a detective or mention that he was doing detective work just like that.Miss Irisa hid the urge to laugh at the way one child looked puzzled and the other looked plain embarassed - it was cute, and young... Definately young. Not unkindly she said to Arian "Why don't you and your friend sit down - maybe by the nice table by the window and I bring you two over a milkshake?" Arian started to nod and then looked over at Mikomi "Um do you want to try one of Iris' banana milkshakes - they really are very good." For the moment he avoided the subject of detectives and anything to do with what detectives did. "Or maybe you could get another flavour - I'm pretty sure Iris does chocolate or strawberry if you wanted one of those."Mizu_Taji Mikomi smiled a little bit. "Sure, I'd like to try one of her bannana milkshakes. After all, you've mentioned them several times, so they must be really good!" she said, still wondering deep on the inside what these 'investigations' were exactly, but perhaps, now that she knew about them, he would at least give her a hint. kaze1981 "Great!" Arian looked back Miss Irisa. "Can we have two..." he started.Miss Irisa made a shooing gesture with her hands "Already onto it young man" brown eyes twinkled at Arian and Mikomi. "Why don't you and your friend sit by that table in the corner" a wrinkled hand pointed out a small, round table by the window with two chairs carved out of wood which had blue and grey checked cushions on them. "That one gives a nice view of the outside." Arian nodded "Er ok, Iris." Taking Miss Iris advice he walked over to the table and sat down on one of the chairs, carefully curling some of his tail underneath so that it wouldn't get in the way. Looking at Mikomi he was suddenly stuck with what to say. Mizu_Taji Mikomi nodded at Iris and skuttled over to the seats that she had pointed out. Taking the one that was across from Arian, she sat down and wiggled a little bit to get herself comfortable. Seeing as he was not going to talk anytime soon, and feeling the odd silence between them, the pale purple girl decided to speak up.
"So...what have you been..." she stopped, trying to remember what word Iris used. "In...vestigating Arian? Can I be of any help?" kaze1981 Arian had been looking down at the table while trying to think up something to say when Mikomi asked her question.
Part of him wanted to tell - Mikomi was his friend - she'd said she thought they were friends and friends told each other stufff.. Right...
Right?!
And yet... Maybe it wasn't something Mikomi wouldn't to know, even though they were both spirits and came from lanturns and...
"Have you ever wondered why some people come from lanturns and some don't?" the unicorn spirit blurted out at last.
Mikomi's a spirit like me so she must want to know - besides friends do tell each other stuff and she's my friend. Mizu_Taji Bright eyes blinked a couple of times, pondering Arian's question. She had wondered every once in a while, and sometimes she almost got Tayne to explain it, but it seemed like her mother herself wasn't so sure. After a few moments of thinking, she looked at Arian and smiled meakly.
"A little bit, but I haven't found anyone that really understands it yet. Mom has tried to explain but ended up confusing herself. I doubt Mr. Sinn or Ms. Hakari explained much to her..."
There was one word that Tayne always used when she did try to explain though...but...did it really mean anything? She wasn't sure, so she wasn't going to mention it right now.
"I guess that's what you're looking into Arian? Have you had any luck with that?"

[+The Map+ (self rp)]
It was an odd feeling; to yearn for something in such magnitude that it ate away at oneself when both awake and asleep. Yet, it felt natural at the same time, as if the inner workings of the mind were subconsciously programmed to yearn for what was yearned for.
Mikomi fiddled with her hair, though not for very long, as it was a habit that she could never really get into with the length of her hair. She was sitting at the table, her feet just dangling off the ground. She swung them halfheartedly as she shoved her head into her hands, unsure of what to do with this yearning that was deep inside of her.
The yearning to find out who she truly was.
It started after that day at the café she had with Arian. He was curious about his past, and wondered if she ever thought about it that much. She told him the truth, that she had been wondering about it for a little, but she wasn’t as determined at finding the answers as he was. After that meeting though, she couldn’t help but thinking about it more then she had before.
And the more she thought about it, the more she wanted to know.
Her dreams started to fill with images she had thought she had never seen before, and yet when she awoke, she had the odd feeling that they were familiar; that they were signs on who she used to be. It was her only guess. She often wrote down the things she saw in a journal that she left near her bed, in hopes that maybe, just maybe, she could put the clues together later.
So far, she had no such luck.
So there she was, sitting at the table, as stated before, wondering what on earth to do next.
‘I wonder what Arian has discovered…’ she found herself thinking, and a small smile spread across her face as it always did when she thought about the winged unicorn boy. He was, by far, the closest friend she had ever had. The only other person she even considered a friend was Riyana, but they had only spoken about twice in her life time. Kama was a nice acquaintance, but he vanished after they’re first and only meeting when she was still young. All of a sudden her smile faded though, realizing just how much she missed her friend. She hadn’t heard from him since that day, and she did miss him; missed him something horrible. A few tears ran down her face as she wondered if he was alright, her now apparent loneliness gripping at her insides, taking the place of the constant gnawing need, if only for a bit. She quickly wiped them away, however, and forced a smile to come back upon her face.
“He wouldn’t want me crying…” she told herself in a whisper. The smile became natural again as she thought about how he might have reacted if he learned that she was crying because of him. He was such a good friend…she was looking forward to seeing him again.
Trying to find something productive to do, she fetched the book that she had placed all of her dreams in. Everything she saw, felt, heard, and anything else she could remember to jot down, went in there. After returning to the kitchen table, she flipped through the notebook for the umpteenth time that week. Perhaps there was something, a connection of some sort that she had missed prior. There just had to be.
Nothing…Just like before…
Slamming the book shut in a very odd fit of annoyance, she hopped of her chair and started sulking back towards her room when, suddenly, a map caught her eye. It was Tayne’s map of several regions that spanned very far from where all she had been in her life…that she knew of anyway. An odd wave of curiosity filled her, so great in fact she stopped what she was doing to go and grab it up and unfold it to look at it. She traced the main boundaries that were inked out on the paper landmasses, eying every name with great detail. So many places she had never been before…so many things that she had never seen.
“What’s this?” she mused to herself as she looked at a place in the far East region of the map. She distinctively remembered it as a familiar area, even though it bore no name on the map, and seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere. Yet, she still stared, as if something deep within her knew what it was, and perhaps, what information it could hold.
The question was, how was she going to get there?
