I wondered why Holly never said anything about the cats, too. After all, they left the Dwarf in theoir own ships, so he must have known something.
Either he didn't know there were any left, or he was just being Holly. (You didn't ask me, did ya, mate?)
I have to admit I found it odd that there were no sensors in the hold. You would think there would have been, just for security reasons.

Maybe he meant to save it for a joke and it got erased when Lister erased his memory so he could re-read all those Agatha Christy novels. smile
