Howling, Rouqie rushed up the cliffs where she knew Icarus was going to challenge the warrior Paden. The very same place she had been defeated by Andragos, she wondered, how much pain could possibly accumulate in one place.
A snarl ripped through the surrounding area and she stopped in her tracks, her head whipping in the direction of the noise.
Horrified, she saw Paden holding Icarus by the neck, then letting him drop to the ground. Memories of her own experience at the hands of Andragos brought a savage snarl to her lips. "No!" She cried and leaped between Icarus and the brute, determined to protect.
Noticing the orchid wolf's serene expression, Rouqie finally turned to poor Icarus. She dropped to the ground in front of his bloody head and searched for breath.
Steady, warm breathing puffed from his nostrils. With a whine she let out a tear of joy. He was OK. Slowly, she began to lick his wounds, all the while murmuring to him: "You did well. You're okay now."
