"Where are you?" He spoke smoothly....but his tone held enough venom to sound like a snake had grown human vocal chords and hijacked the phone. Alexei had trust problems to begin with...which were understandable considering his circumstances, but if there was any reason for suspicious, even just a hunch, the person in question was automatically guilty in his mind.
"It's late," He drawled using a bedroom voice that seemed to constantly infiltrate his daily speech patterns. "and it's storming. A young girl shouldn't be out alone on a night like this, she shouldn't be out at all." That was his hidden warning, his peephole that let Tara know he was suspicious and that he'd find her soon enough.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX To be honest...[~I need you...][Tara had really been hoping she would already be at Ashlyn's by the time she had to talk to Alexei, but oh well. She came up with things to say fast, and she made sure it wasn't something he could easily catch her lie in. Particularly because it was clear he was suspicious of something. HAD been followed....
But surely not now with the storm fully set in, right?
After he finished speaking she already had something ready to say.
"I know, it sucks. I was heading to out to the mall for some clothes when it started getting worse. I ended up staying longer than I meant to because I was hoping the storm would just blow over after a couple hours, but clearly that's not going to happen. Right now, I'm on my way to Ashlyn's because the college is waay closer than our place and I'm pretty sure we already passed like two accidents."
Thank god she was a good liar. That all came out smooth, in the honest sounding way.
Just like the times Alexei went crazy and thought she was lying when she really WASN'T, unlike now...
But it was a good story. She usually went to the mall that was about 20 minutes walking distance, from the college, after classes and such, before hailing a taxi and driving the other 20 minutes. So by car, in the storm, it's like, still 15 minutes to the college, 40ish min to their place.
And the motel they had been at, wasn't too far off from that area. It really was closer to the college then home.][...need you~]   I'm terrified." _____________________________

To make matters worse, Alexei, was in no mood for someone not doing exactly what he wanted!
"So you thought it would be a great idea to just not come home, and let me wonder what the ******** happened to you?" Well...he had had to call her first...and it was REALLY late...and Tara probably wasn't the one driving sooooo...there was no explanation there.
Alexei scoffed through the phone.
"Let me make this very clear." His business tone had made its way into his casual voice. "I will find you tomorrow morning, and if you've done anything stupid, and I mean stupid, I'll be the one to "clear everything up"."
He glanced out the window the car before quickly letting the Russian for 'go home' race past his lips.
He focused once again on the call. "Got it?"

Ah yeah, she knew she should have called as soon as she got in the taxi, but... She had really just been hoping to get to Ashlyn's before having to talk to him. Now it looked bad that she hadn't called first.
"No of course not, I was going to call you as soon as I talked to Ashlyn about staying over at her place, to make sure it was alright first. I just got off the phone with her..."
She faded off quietly because Alexei started speaking again, even more sternly than before. All business like even.
She waited until he was done speaking, "Ye-" he'd hung up.
Well fine then!
Grr.
This was not good. He definitely sounded like he knew had reason to be suspicious!
And damn. Now she would need to find some clothes he hasn't seen before to make her story plausible. But see, window shopping, for hooours, would have sounded even more lame.
She'd borrow something from Ash.
Tara really did not want to find out what, "clear everything up" meant either.
She put the phone back into her purse and sighed, slumping against the side of the taxi. The driver was mercifully silent. Yeah, she'd had some nosy ones before.
Aaand then they pulled up, finally.
Tara paid the driver from inside, pulled her hood up and made a break for the college dorms that Ashlyn occupied.][...need you~] I'm terrified." _____________________________

He kissed her lips softly, and she laid there, trying to convince herself that what he was saying was the truth. He wouldn't lie to her. She was tired, and cold, so she pulled up the blankets, and turned on her side.
"He wouldn't have said it if he didn't mean it."

James was holding Allegra close to him. "He can mean whatever he wants. But this is ridiculous-" She was turning away from him. He rolled his eyes and rolled onto his other side, back facing the blonde.
If it had been Tara they would be cuddled up right now. Completely ingrossed in each other. There wouldn't be the senseless fighting over what some jealous friend saw or whatever.
Or maybe, if the tables were turned- There would be.
But right now, James was simply focused on the fact that he knew where he'd rather be right now.

Years of being a mobster sort of offhandedly trained Alexei to feel when something was wrong. He could just smell a lie sometimes. It wasn't that he thought Tara was flat out lying to him, because really Alexei didn't want her lying to him at all. He wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but he couldn't because Alexei just didn't work that way. He felt something was off and it was. He was a cautious guy too...so what he ordered, was to be expected.
"I want a full run down on who our mystery man is. Is he a friend? Is he a cousin? I don't know. You two get some more people and find out who Tara's little friend is. I want a name and I want one fast."
Everyone in the car seemed to get the picture right away and they were home before much action could even think of happening.
Alexei had sort of gotten dressed for no reason. He figured he just go to sleep now...as that had been his plan not even an hour ago.
Huffing, but finally alone, Alexei, once more clad in underwear, got under the covers and tried to fall asleep.
Finally, after countless thoughts, and plans, and flashes of memories, Alexei was out cold.

Ashlyn had looked up in surprise at the sudden intrusion, and then simply said, "Well your a lovely sight... would you like some dry clothes?"
Tara nodded, shivering, and then stepped over to the girl's closet.
Ashlyn was silent for awhile as she continued working on her essay. Tara quickly picked out some PJs, quickly muttered something about a shower, and quickly made her way out.
Once the nice, steaming, hot shower was out of the way and she was feeling much refreshed, Tara threw the wet cloths into the public washers, and headed back to the room.
"So Ash, I'm sorry about intruding on such short notice, but thanks, a lot."
The girl nodded, still mostly concentrating on the essay.
"It's fine. Pop in a movie or something, I'll join you in a bit."
Tara nodded and did as she said after picking out a DVD she hadn't seen in awhile.
Ah. Would she ever get to sleep tonight? Because once she woke up... she'd have to face Alexei... Oh No! That's when something flashed through her head.
Tara jumped out, said she'd be right back, snatched her phone and walked right outside of the room into the empty hall.
There she dialed James' cell.][...need you~] I'm terrified." _____________________________

Then one of us would be happy.The next morning, Allegra woke up before James did. She craned her neck to look at him, but she was still fast asleep. She then turned back over and looked at her clock. It was six; a bit early in the morning, but Allegra didn't really mind so much. She flipped the covers off herself and started getting dressed for the day. She chose a green button-up shirt alone with a nice pair of denim jeans that hugged her every curve nicely.
She grabbed the notebook she'd discarded the night before, and slid it into her messenger bag. She didn't even turn around as she left, locking the door behind her. She hadn't wanted to stay around long enough for him to wake up, so she figured on her usual round to the campus starbucks, she'd pick up something to eat too. But the second she left her apartment, her phone started blaring music. It scared her out of her freaking mind. She made such a quick grab for it, she wouldn't have doubted it if her hand veered off into a fourth dimension on the way.
She quickly flipped the phone open and put it to her ear, making her way down the stairs, not wanting James to think she was avoiding him if the music had somehow woken him up, and he came out to see her standing by the elevator. That would just make her situation worse. A 'why don't you trust me?' speech would be sure to follow, and then she'd be forced to tell him what she overheard, and then he'd either deny it like a real a**, or be mad that she'd listened in on his conversations. She just didn't want to put herself out like that.
Allegra made it to the next floor before she spoke. "Hey, what's up?"
The other line chuckled lowly. "Hey, Ally." Donivan greeted. "Did you get my message last night?" he asked. She could hear some faint noises in the back ground, but those were probably his roommates goofing off again.
She nodded, though he couldn't see it. "I did," she confirmed, the elevator dinging as it started its decent to the bottom floor. "And thank you, Donni. I don't think he would have told me about it himself." As much as it hurts to hear it, I still want to know, she thought dismally. "You coming to Crane's lecture today?" She placed the phone between here ear and shoulder as she dug through her bag, making sure she had her student ID, various notebooks and her wallet.
"But of course. Wouldn't miss it for the world. Another chance for a much older man to fawn over a much younger woman." He was, of course, reffering to Crane's favoritism towards her.
She rolled her eyes. "Go screw yourself backwards." She could hear him laugh as shut the phone and stepped out of the elevator. The sun shone brightly outside her apartment building and she cooly slipped a pair of shades over her eyes and walked out to her truck, ready for the day.Out Of My Cranium: Distruth drives me into m a d n e s s,

James didn't awake until about an hour after his girlfriend left. He felt around next to him, looking for her. But nothing.
He yawned, unsure of whether he was releaved or sad that she wasn't there for a morning cuddle.
Oh well.
It took about ten minutes for him to finally sit up and stretch, searching for his phone. He flipped it open, seeing a missed call from his other blonde.
Hm, call her back and risk her being with her boyfriend or not call her back and worry as to why she was calling him?
He hit the send button twice, calling her back.
While James waited on her to answer, or not, he wandered around the apartment, picking up various items that were out of place and then headed to the kitchen to find something to eat.
