Remy had never seen Mayu snap at a knight before, and he found it a little amusing yet he could not express that amusement. It was true that without her, the other two knights would probably not have apprehended the young boy since they were visibly panting. Remy didn’t understand why since they were supposed to be in shape.

“I was in the marketplace and bought the thing. The rascal bumped into me and took it from my pocket. Lucky for me, I felt it and saw him running,” the first knight said evenly toward Mayu with his eyes narrowed. He didn’t seem to approve of a civilian being involved in something the knights were taking care of. Maybe it was because the matter involved him especially and Mayu had talked back to the knights.“Clearly, he is a thief.” The knight made a motion toward Mayu and the boy, but Remy put out his hand to stop him.

“And the young man’s story?” Remy asked, nodding at the boy and ignoring the first knight's glare.

User ImageMayu listened to the first knight, narrowing her eyes right back at him. If she had fur, it would be standing on end. She hated being looked down to like that. She gritted her teeth, almost about to snap back as he drew closer when Remy interfered, a look of appreciation briefly rising to her features before she looked down to the boy beneath her. "Well little mouse?" At first the boy seemed hesitant to answer, so she instead gripped his arm tightly and moved her kunai away from his throat. Helping him up, he did tug a bit as if to test her grip, only to find it one of iron. "Don't try anything. This knife can move faster than a kick or bite." She murmured, raising an eyebrow, yet she still offered him a small smirk.

The boy frowned, not retorting only because he saw the one knight move and address him. Looking up to the girl who caught him, she was clearly not a knight. But she wasn't mean, least not really. That bite had really hurt though. "My dad asked me to get it for mom. As a present, you know? That guy," he pointed to the first guard who looked taken aback, "saw me walking home with it and didn't believe me when I said I bought it. I took it back from him and ran. I did not steal it! It's my mom's like I said!" He shouted, wincing as some blood dripped down his leg from the bite.

Crouching down next to the boy, she touched his arm to lower it, pulling a rag from inside the sleeve of her kimono, tying it around his wound. "Sorry to have bit you. Make sure you visit a doctor ok? I can pay for it, and I know a good one too." She told him quietly, rising back up as she looked to the knights. "Well then, Sir Remington, what do you think?" She asked him with a small tilt of her head, resting her other hand on the boys back.

Jex sighed once the prince was in his room. She could not tell him who she was for it was a sworn secret and could only come up at certain times to ceratin people. She knew something was up for she had her fair share of roughhousing and eavesdropping to get enough information that people who could predict things have said that a powerful trouble will befall Narnith. Unfortunately, Jex couldn't tell her generals for they weren't so... female savvy and would never believe her, due to her experience with them. She could however tell the king and queen about it as Elly, but then she would either have to give up her secret or her parents would have a heart attack due to her sudden interest in Narnith mishaps. Regardless, Jex/Elly was eager for information about what was happening, anything that would enable her to help.

But then again, here was a prince from another country who needed protection as well as had some answers. Perhaps it was okay to ask him questions. Surely as a knight of Narnith she had the right to, since he was kept in maids quarters anyways.
"you have been questioned by the king, yes? And what misfortune befalls Narnith, or perhaps yourself? It would not be of any harm to disguss that of which you cannot convey, am I right?" she asked and stated, tilting her head and smiling, but then becoming serious so that she wouldn't disrupt her effort to hide her true.... presense.

Given's Remy's impression of the first knight and the little boy's explanation, he felt that the boy's story was the one to follow. The possibility that the boy was lying did not even cross his mind. He looked at the first knight, the look in his eyes sending a message of, "We're supposed to protect the people."

Technically, this was the first knight and the quiet knight's issue, but Remy didn't want the boy to be hurt. There was always the matter of proof, but Remy was following his intuition.

"I believe the boy should keep the brooch," Remy said. He glanced at the boy and stared at the first knight. He was directly contradicting the other knight, but had phrased it in a way that he didn't flat out say that the first knight was lying.

"Fine. The boy can keep the brooch. Consider it a gift from the knights, but don't think you'll get off that easily from stealing next time,"the first knight growled. He walked past Remy with a frown. “Watch your back in training today, little knight,” the first knight whispered in Remy’s ear as he passed. Mayu could probably hear the comment too thought the knight didn’t intend her too.

User ImageRobert shook his head a bit as he rested his left arm against the wall while he turned to face the female knight. "I wish I knew what waits to befall Narnith, aside from my brother's impending attack. I know he wants me dead. The knights he sent made that much clear. He's probably going to use my presence here as an excuse to attack." Robert said as he began to try and think things over in his mind.

"I only learned about the poisoning of my father when my brother sent a group of knights to kill me. They still had some loyalty to my father, but given how they acted, the only reason I can think of that they would try to carry out Eric's attack on me was probably because their loved ones were being held captive. I originally ran away from Paulb several months ago to get away from my father's self-deluded idea of throwing me into an arranged marriage. I already had someone I loved dearly, but because she was a commoner and a beast lady at that, my father would have none of it. In the end, she ended up getting killed while we were being hunted. Thinking back, I wonder if it really was my father who ordered those men to kill Lilly and capture me, or if it was my brother, though I doubt it matters now. I just...wish I knew what was going on in Pualb and what happened to change my brother from a good man to....this madness!" Robert said as he collapsed himself into a sitting position, propping himself against the wall.

"I should have never left....no, I'd probably be dead if I didn't leave. I just don't know what to think anymore." Robert said as he exhaled, closing his eyes and resting the top of his head against the wall.

"A simple life. I guess it's too much for a royal to ask for. You knights and commoners have got something special. Royals like me, it's either fit the mold or be forced into the mold. And always beware the knife in the back." he spoke with a light chuckle.

User ImageMayu narrowed her eye at the knight as he left, hearing the whole exchange, chuckling as the boy stuck his tongue out at them. "Thank you Sir Remington. I probably would have shot off more at them and ended up arrested or something." She said softly, both hands now on the boys shoulders.

She shook her head again, it was still shocking though. To think their knights would do that... She'd definitely have to watch her back now. "I can't believe them... Aiya," She stopped, realizing how much time this must have taken. "I hope we haven't taken up too much of your time. You did say you had training today. I can take care of the boy if you need to get going." She didn't mean to sound like she was getting rid of him, she was merely concerned.

Jex listened to the young princes story, not showing much of an expression, which she was rather good at doing. She thought about what he said, about his loved one being killed because she was a commoner. "That's something that makes me sick about royals. First they want things to be in order, which there is no problem with that, but they want the order to be a certain way. It's like sword fighting as a knight. If you want to be able to beat someone with a higher rank than yourself, you need the same skills to beat him, but watch where his openings are and then strick in order to beat him. If you go about it in your own way and the judges or trainers don't like it, they will reprimand you until you do it their way, based on their rules. But don't you think that as long as it gets the job done that it shouldn't matter how you do it?"

"The same is with royality and marriage, too. In order to not 'taint' the family name or lineage, the princess, or prince must marry someone of royal blood so that not only could it live in the history of it's people, but so that they are still clean and so their people won't blame it on them being different. but is different so bad? With all this change around us, isn't there room for the new things? Narnith is definately a place that is eased on their people and changes, but the royals seem to have the same rules; no marrying into non-royal families, no fighting, attend all affairs dealing with politics and make sure to have children to succeed you. I don't see why this cannot be accomplished, even with one being half say... human and half elf. I'd want to be free and not have to worry about how things are done, as long as it keeps the peace amoung my people and so that I am someone they can look up to. if the kings want to keep peace with their own children they should at least let them lend an ear, rather than having to resort to violence.... at least, if I were the princess thats what i'd think and I would sate that to the king..."
Jex said, blushing a bit and rubbing the back of her head in embarassment just blabbering about like that.

Remy didn't know what to say to Mayu's comment about herself being arrested. It would have been unfortunate if it happened, and Remy probably couldn't have prevented it if she did cause a massive ruckus since it could disturb the whole area and create unwanted interest.

"The knights are here to protect the people from matters small or large. I am sure Matt... Sir Matthias will have the right heart for ... other matters," Remy said confidently.

...Why is it I must be this way to him even after that? Certainly, in war, he'll be a staunch fighter for Hount. The code of honor and etiquette was ingrained in Remy's head, and he wanted to give people the benefit of the doubt that everyone was good.

At the mention of the training and the word "time," Remy blinked. He did have to go. "Thank you for the reminder," he said sheepishly, not realizing how potentially bad it made the knights sound on this day, especially coupled with the immediate earlier incident. "I should get going. Thank you, Lady Mayu."

He smiled down at the boy. "I'm sure your mom will enjoy your present and your hard work." With that, he waved and started off to finish his route and end at the training ground.

User ImageRobert smiled lightly and gave a nod. "Indeed. Change is needed, and there is more to life than simply squabbling over politics and rewashing the same bloodlines, just in different orders. Granted there is alot of responsibilities that come with royalty, but race, rank and love are not things that should be governed when it comes to marriage. Common folk are not stupid. They can learn just as easily as educated folk, even more quickly due to their desire to learn. And they have a lot more common sense and street smarts. If royalty doesn't know the people, how can he rule over them justly?" Robert replied as he stood himself back up.

"Growing up, I used to escape from the castle with my brother's help. I'd mingle with the commoners, and they treated me like one of their own. I learned how to fight, how to utilize stealth, disarm traps and pick the locks my father would try to use to keep me from getting out of the castle. I had some friends that trained me to be the best without father or brother ever knowing. Back then Eric had a real caring heart. Eventually he got married to a noble lady named Morigan. At that point, his successorship was solidified, and I was fine with it. I thought it meant I could be free to live as I wanted and love as I wanted." The young prince spoke in a calm tone of voice as his mind began to wander and rethink through what he had just spoken of.

Suddenly, a strange thought passed in his mind. "Now that I think of it, he became rather distant ever since he got married. I don't mean he spent less time with me, but he seemed alot more hardened, and he spent more time in the library than he ever had. Not to mention his skin became paler over the years of his marriage. He'd hardly ever go outside." Robert said as he began pacing back and forth. "I wonder...do you know if your castle has records of noble families? Anything on House Tepes?" Robert asked as he looked to Jex, keeping his gaze upon her eyes. She was beautiful for a soldier, but he wasn't intent on flirting or romance. He needed answers and he needed to set things right in Paulb.

Jex folded her arms and leaned against the door frame of the room, nodding her head at Roberts reply to what she said. When he asked her about the library, she had to think of how to answer that. She wasn't able to tell him her secret and allowing outsiders in the library alone would only make things complicated. She could let him in as Elly, but first she would have to change and then lead him there without him knowing her secret. She sighed in her head, knowing it would be hard to do this two person thing. "I am sorry young prince of Paulb, but I am not allowed to let commoners in there without permission from the King and to my understanding, he wouldn't let you in there since these things are happening. I could however get the princess to let you in there where you two could be alone. Not like that though. The princess is very considerate to helping people out and has a kind heart, though spoiled attitude. Though it would have to be later for she is in the city right now," Jex said, lying a bit about the princess being in the city, but it was the only way to do it. "I'm Jexamine, but everyone calls me Jex. We'll probably be traveling in the future or at least bumping into each other a few times. Take good care of me!"

User ImageRobert gave a polite nod to her explanation. "Ah, political red tape. That is fine. Even if I am not allowed, perhaps you may ask her to look through those records, see if anything in it suggests a relation to beings known as 'crimson nobles'. If what I suspect is true, I fear this kingdom and Pualb are in worse trouble than I first thought." Robert spoke before she introduced herself formally.

Walking over to her, he casually takes her hand and places a kiss on the back of it (or the metal of the glove) as a proper greeting. "A pleasure. Though you probably have already been told, my name is Robert Haschen. If we do end up traveling together, it is something I shall look forward to." he replied with a pleasant smile.

Elsewhere in several of the smaller towns in Narnith, several undead uprising begin, slaughtering townsfolk and militia alike. At the helm of each is a single necromancer wraith.. Unlike the attack in Garet up in Pualb, these attacks are more serious, and the wraiths are silent, seeking only to cause as much death as possible.

User ImageMayu sighed lightly and nodded once, though she held her doubts about this Sir Matthias. He better, otherwise he was a waste at his post in her opinion. Then again, there would probably always be good knights, and not as good knights. Who knew at this point?

She smiled softly at his reaction, giggling a bit. "You're most welcome. Take care Sir Remington, I'll see you at the store another time." Her smile grew sweet, bowing a bit to him since it wasn't like she could curtsy in a kimono.

The boy waved with her as he left, her golden eyes turning to her new charge. "Alright, lets have that doctor friend of mine look at you. Then I'll walk you home, ok?" The boy nodded, for the first time showing the hint of a smile, the two walking off through the city. They chatted for a while, and overall he wasn't a bad kid at all. She told him that his first meal to her sake shop would be free even if he brought his whole family. It made her wonder if she'd ever have kids like that. Aiya! Am I a bit young to think of that? Though, I suppose not... She thought over how their society worked and sighed lightly, lowering her gaze as she made the walk back to her sake shop. and.... back into busy times.

User ImageRaven chuckled at something her father said, the atmosphere better than she could have expected after having been gone for so long. Though, suddenly her mother sort of froze and almost looked as if she were speaking to air. In reality she was speaking to water sprites that must have appeared though they couldn't see them. Then her mother appeared concerned, her father showing his concern. "Whats wrong mother?"

User ImageMarianne shuddered as she listened to the sprites tale, feeling their quails in her bones. "Bloodshed. They are saying that there a villages under attack. The water in the air is trembling...." She shivered again, not fighting as her husband got out of his chair to hold her.

Upon hearing that, both Alden and Raven looked at each other, leaving the comfort of their mother to their father. But who was attacking them? "Mother, do you know who is doing this?" He asked gently, knowing his sister was probably going to want to move out immediately. The least he could do was aid these villagers. This sounded serious if their mother was trembling so. She never seemed this afraid. Though he was more a lover than a fighter, in cases like this he could make exceptions.

Her husband said nothing, but she understood and calmed a little, turning with a sad gaze to her children. She knew what they would do. "The sprites say the dead came back to life... They are being lead by something."

Now James spoke, his brows furrowing as his teeth gritted in his mouth. He hated undead problems. "They are probably headed by a lich or necromancer of some sort. Either they want to cause some hell or they are commanded." He stated with a growl in his voice, remembering old battles he had fought. Lost many a good men in such an assault.

She had heard enough. Standing up suddenly, Raven appeared much as her father did when he used to be in active duty before retiring, stern and icy cold. "Mother, Father. I am glad to have seen you. But, I'm sure you understand why I leave. Alden?" She nodded to her parents whom she could see in their eyes they did, now looking to her brother since she honestly wasn't sure what he would do. Initially she would think he would stay behind, but then again, considering how he had been during their travels, she wasn't so sure.

Alden rose when his sister addressed him, sighing heavily. "I'll see if I can do something. Though, if we're water users, there may not be much we can do. This sounds like a job more suited to light mages and such." He said softly, not really sure if the military would appreciate his aid or not. What little he could give.

Hmm, he was right. Little brothers growing a spine. Good. About damn time. Raven hugged her parents along with her brother and they left quickly, not immediately going anywhere after they left their house. "We should probably consult the King and Captain. I'm sure they'll be getting reports soon, but may as well take the initiative." She muttered, breaking into a run for the palace. If these attacks were as serious as her mother made them sound, they had no time to spare.

Soon the two reached the palace, the guards pausing to question who they were. But they knew her name, and they knew if she looked this serious, something was up. Something bad. The Ice Queen did not visit the King unless there was dire reason. Soon they were at the palace doors, stopped by more guards. "I am Lieutenant Raven Nome and this is my brother Alden. We have to speak with the King immediately. This is urgent." She spoke firmly, her blue eyes glinting rather dangerously.

"Yes ma'am." With that, the guards sent off two to speak to the king, rushing up to the throne room. "Your highness, Lieutenant Raven Nome wishes to speak with you. It seems urgent if she is here. Her brother is with her as well. Shall we let her in?" He asked, bowing on one knee to his lord.

Alden followed after his sister, only a very slight distance between the two of them. After all those times traveling with her, he had gotten some endurance. She had demanded it. "Do you think they'll let us in? Or even listen?" He asked her softly, stepping up close to his sister.

"If he doesn't, I would be disappointed and be tempted to just tear my way through to an audience. If we can't succeed here, we still have the Captain. I doubt a King would ignore the death of his people though." Raven muttered, glad that they hadn't used her other nickname. She was known most commonly as the Ice Queen. But another was what her father used to be called. The Blue-Eyed Dragon. That name wasn't widely used since it was her fathers first, and she rarely allowed many to survive who had seen her when the name fitted her best.

“Hey, mister,” Where called out, poking the teacher and ruining the older man’s concentration.

“Don’t do that again,” the teacher said without looking at Where as he started to resume the spell.

“I can help! I know a light based enhancement.”

“Fine, but don’t touch me,” the teacher said quickly, as if he just wanted Where to shut up.

“Gotcha, mister,” Where nodded. He was hoping he’d see the teacher freak out, but it seemed it wouldn’t be the case this time. He executed the spell and poked the teacher just as the older man finished casting the spell. The teacher’s spell worked alright. It launched out a little unpredictably because Where had poked him, but it worked with the enhancement Where had given it.

“Didn’t I just tell you-“

“It worked! Look!” Where hopped up and down as the teacher’s spell lanced through a line of undead, somehow completely destroying the first one, stopping a few of them, and momentarily impeding the others.

Apparently, it worked better than the teacher expected. “…whatever that was, do it again.”

“Umm, well, I thought I messed up, but I guess it helped?” Where answered innocently. For some reason, Where had the urge to blow things to smithereens, and it didn’t matter who or what, and he had added an extra boost on that enhancement spell just to see something explode.

While it had been chaotic at first, the townspeople were grouping together and gathering up arms and courage, rallying together to defend themselves and their town. What had been fear was now an anger at Prince Robert. Where even glanced a midwife bash some sort of frying pan in one of the undead’s faces before getting quickly dragged back by someone who could have been her husband. He could see the other mages and student magicians lined up in various locations casting different spells, ranging from shields, retarding effects on the undead, enhancements for those townspeople charging the undead, to attack spells. Though not everything worked, the tide was turning in Garet’s favor. The irritating cackling from the wraith had also disappeared, and no one could see where it went or figure out if it was “dead.” It was gone, and that was all that mattered. No more undead in the area. No more casualties in numbers or structures than had already occurred.

During the battle, King Eric had made his announcement and demonstrated the fate of the Narnith spy in the capital. The message would no doubt reach Garet soon. However, even before that, Where would probably be under suspicion because of the wraith’s words. Well, if I didn’t mislead them, it would be boring, eh? Let’s see where this goes. But for now, he was assigned to help with the injuries since he had stated healing as one of his concentrations. He would help with “Where’s” supposed ability level and make some innocent mistakes with potentially hilarious results for everyone but the person he was treating.
