-=<{Hey now, don't tell me that you guys were thinking of writing a musical without The Duce!...I'm so hurt :-{. I'm pretty decent at wryting lyrics and could through out a few plots if you like. My services are free as long as my char gets to eat jellow at point in the show.}>=-

Just lyrics, or do you do the music as well? If so, we could do the music for it together...that would be fun.
Now that I think of it - does anyone else here compose at all, and if so, what instruments can you compose for?

Well, fair enough. I taught myself the basics when I was about four or five, but didn't get formal lessons until much later. Having a keyboard does help a lot, I suppose.
You don't need to play an instrument to be able to compose - you just need to be able to hear the music in your head.

-=<{I just recently took an interest in the keyboard and am still learning the cords and fingering. I'm using this online course thing but the problem is that I can't practice on anything except when I use my imagination and a desk.
I've never done any composing before so I don't think I would much help in that department.}>=-

In class, our teacher used to make us practice on paper keyboards before we were allowed near the real thing. It also helps if you have some knowledge of music theory before you try to learn chords so that you can understand why they sound the way they do and which ones should follow each other, and other stuff like that. Not essential, certainly, but it helped me a lot.
Composing is fun - frustrating, but fun.

I've taken Music ever since I started school, and I've topped the class every year of high school. It's my favourite subject. I'm lucky, because our school has a very good Music program. ^.^ Do you just have Music Theory, or is there a practical element as well?

Ohhh. Okay. Well, if you're interested in taking keyboard, perhaps the theory class would be a good idea. Just sayin'...
