xxxxxThe moment the scent of the deer wafted over him, his mouth watered intensely. It was a relief to his dry throat, but it drained his strength as his energy became sapped. He dove towards the carcass and ignored the presence of the other wolves in favour of the meal. Icarus tore away pieces of the fallen animal and swallowed them in large chunks. He licked the remnants of blood and ate as fast as he could. The fur on his neck prickled once more, but he refused to turn away from the meal. Instead, the glowing warmth emanated further, increasing the heat produced.
xxxxxHe ate and ate until his belly was filled. After the point that Icarus felt he could stomach no more, he trotted back over to the lavender adult and gazed upon the newcomer wolves. The looming coldness kept Icarus' Solar Warmth going; tendrils of heat reached out in the area around him. He looked over the young pups, idly wondering about their pasts and tribes.

He was trotting his way through the trees like he belonged there, utterly uninterested by the stirrings of prey and milk-wan pups alike. He did belong in the trees - like any Sure-Claw, his place was locked in between the sturdy trunks; his howls made to penetrate the wooded boughs.
Not that he had any reason to act that way anymore. Gone was his pack and his place as a warrior. Now, what was he? Hunter, gatherer and babysitter for femmes and whelps. The thought made the wolf's hulking frame shudder, and large paws crushed down harder on fragile, ground-creeping stems. Those paws did not want to run the way they were bound to, out of the forest and into the clearing where said females, the remains of the wolven, lie. They wanted to turn back - to charge headlong into the long wastes of the Darkness, and tear the bodies of the Sure-Claw back out of its nefarious hide. To return things at long last to the way that they ought to be!
But. A'cuil was actually panting his frustration as he came back to the camp. He broke the cover of heavier brush with a shudder of his snake-patterned mane. Carmine eyes flicked upwards as he strode forward, a square-jawed head held high, and those eyes gleamed as they glanced at the pups nearby - settling in particular on the dark one.
To the rest of the wolves in the clearing and the brush, he lifted his head and nodded. He saw them, alright. If they wanted to skulk and stay hidden, that was their own affair. "Rouqie!" He called gruffly, finally taking his hard eyes from the young ones.

xxxxxIcarus shrunk back as he saw the large wolf emerge. Surely, the mysterious new comer was not of the same pack. The Haven pack generally was a home to kinder, more elegant wolves; the gruffiness of the approaching wolf seemed different. As a natural response to other adults, he was afraid. His fear for Rouqie had long since passed when she had accepted him and fed him. However, an uneasy feeling remained for other wolves. He watched the other wolf call the lavender female's name and flinched as he heard the roughness of their voice. He was intruiged, by the intricate markings of spots on his fur. The pattern of his pelt seemed alien to him, moreso than the others he had experienced. Although it was of a colour that seemed familiar to him, the earthy tones of dirt, it was still something he had never seen previously. Tempted as he was, to speak out to the stranger, his place as a pup restricted him from doing so.

Taki backed up slowly to let the other wolves as she slowly slid into the comfort of the bushes beside the deer and lay there, her green eyes watching the others. She hated how the other wolves were afraid of her. Was she really that strange that everyone had to fear her? She didn't even have a pack to go back to. She was alone and had to face the fact that no matter how nice she can be others will always fear her. She whimpered at the thought and lay her head on her oddly colored paws. Narrowing his eyes a bit, the male got to his paws and padded silently in the shadows, his eyes landing briefly on a pair of small pups a few meters away but his eyes lost interest and fixed on the others.
Memories flashed in his mind. Snow, cold and biting to the senses, and the sense of being part of a pack. That was a long time ago when he ran in that ice bound land. Twitching his ears brought him back to reality as he padded just a little closer to the deer. He would make his presence known in good time. It was wise to sit and watch the others for now.
The air around him chilled further as he narrowed his otherworldly eyes. The small orange pup generated heat he could feel from where he stood but he was young and the patterns in the heat waves were erratic. He let out a slow breath, the wisp of it slightly visible as he lay down again to observe.

Pup or not, A'cuil's eyes were drawn instantly to the blazing orange youth. This was one as he; heat came from his fur. The male wondered, as he fixed the little one with his harsh eyes, if he had a equivalent fire somewhere beneath that tattered breast.
"What are you looking at, bright child? If you have something to say to me, speak." His voice was no less harsh and the last word was spoken as a command. His pack was gone: A'cuil had little patience for procedure among these sad remains. It was not meanness that made him so, but unspent life, unspent energy. That, and the ever-present urge to disobey the orders given him by his Alpha, leave his responsibilities to all these, and seek the pack he knew as family.

xxxxxIcarus peered back at Taki as she whimpered, feeling bad that he was fearful of her. But he dared not approach, and only responded when spoken to. An odd sensation washed over him as he could feel eyes upon him. His ears twitched back and forth out of anxiety, hoping that the mysterious sensation would disappear or at least that the source be revealed. When the new wolf's carmine eyes fell upon him, Icarus wished to disappear into the bushes. The harsh look bored into him and made him feel uncomfortable. He cast his gaze downwards, too fearful to look the intimidating beast in the eye. For a moment, the warmth flared, his uneasiness demanding more comfort. He inhaled, mustering up the courage to respond. What he had hoped would sound like a prideful response was more of a weak whimper, "You look weird." He squeaked, his mind pushing the first thought in his mind out of hs mouth. Instantly, he regretted the comment and looked away.

Taki twitched her ears then got to her paws and stood over the small orange pup and fixed her gaze on the newcomer. "Who are you and what business do you have here?" She couldn't comprehend why she felt edgy all of a sudden or why this male just rubbed her fur the wrong way. Perhaps it was the way he addressed others. She knew little of the other packs and only knew wolves as individuals so gruffness annoyed her the most. The male's gaze flicked to the new male as he reguarded him for a brief moment before fixing his gaze on the pup. What other power did this pup have? He wanted to know but surely he would scare the pup not that he cared. Fear was a heady thing and powerful in controlling others as he had learned in his old pack. As his gaze zeroed in on the pup the air grew far colder, ice crystals beginning to form on the leaves and frost glittered on the grass.

xxxxxIcarus breathed a sigh of relief as the previously whimpering female stood above him and provided a sense of protection from the brown male. He idly gazed at the lime green paws that surrounded him from all four sides, delighted that another bright-coloured creature existed in the forest in which he lived in. Soon he felt the coldness that seeped from the outskirts of the forest. Icarus' head swung in the direction that it came in, and watched in awe as the grass and leaves began to frost. The cold air slowly creeped towards him; he could feel tendrils of it touch his paws. The slight coldness caused his fur to stand on end. Discomfort grew inside him, and as the grass nearby frosted over, he shut his eyes tight. He focused on the warmth inside of him, imagining the sun inside of his head and flashed images of the glare of the new wolf. The heat extended outward slightly and melted some of the frost. But, Icarus could not hold it. The warmth retracted like a rubber band stretched too far and a sense of tiredness overcame him.

Haku sniffed the air, looking around a bit before turning back to Cratea, " My name is Haku, I live by the nearby lake. And What's your name?" Haku could smell her scent now, he turned and began walking, "Hey, if your lost you can come with me. I just need to track someone down really quickly then I can help you." Haku told the wolf.
In front of someone else, he wasn't going to act like a lost pup that could hardly find his way. Nope, he was definitely an adult in front of her. In front of anyone. Even the female wolf, Poison Ivy, that he had helped before, he was an 'adult'. And so, he kept his head high and marched forward.
Yuma could feel the cold cut through the air, turning quickly she looked at the suspicious wolf. As the ice touched her, she could begin to feel an emptiness in her heart, the emptiness she tried to every day not to think about. She stepped back before going over to the beside the other female, the one with the green side ways x over her left eye. She too would defend a pup if needed, but she wasn't going to decide this wolf was an enemy before anyone even knew. "Could you talk to us?" Yuma asked, then looked back at the female wolf who offered her meal to them all, " Like she said, if it's food that you want, there's plenty for everyone." Yuma told the suspicious male, keeping her eyes pinned on him.

Taki's fur began to stand on end and she suddenly felt the grief she held deep in her heart start to surface but she shook it aside and glanced around her, watching ice form on the foliage around her as she shivered and sat down, wrapping her green tail around the small pup to keep him warm. "What is happening..?" she whispered to herself as she shivered again. The male sighed and got to his paws as he padded out of the bushes and towards the deer carcass. Where he stepped the grass or leaves froze in his wake. His glowing eyes were still intent on the pup as he watched him before he passed the other male and sniffed the deer, pretending to show interest in the food but his eyes never left the pup.

Rouqie's brow creased as she looked over the Sure-claw wolf. His eyes were steady but he seemed anxious, his tail and ears twitching, his claws cutting narrow furrows into the black dirt.
"A'cuil," she addressed him smoothly, contrasting to his coarseness, "Leave the pup be, he's had a harder time than most of us." She cast a warm gaze at the orange pup between Taki's forelegs.
He seemed incredibly distressed, and she was alarmed to find crystal of ice glittering at his feet! Could the pup have a special ability? Now, it didn't suit him at all, he couldn't have been the source of the cold she'd been feeling, the source was elsewhere.
She looked back to the deer and found it. Over the carcass loomed a massive white wolf. Crystaline ice spikes protruded from his shoulder blades, his head hunched as he stared intently at Icarus!
Rouqie snarled. Something was very wrong with this wolf. She could feel it.

xxxxxIcarus curled up in the warm tail of the green and black wolf. He tried to increase the heat around him once more to ease the shivering of the wolf that was protecting him. He jumped as he saw the ice wolf emerge from the forest, a sense of coldness turned the air unkind. The grass and leaves that froze in his wake left a path that he found to be horrific. To do such a thing to the unprepared forest made him want to go warm up the grass and save the small amount of life left in it. The pup shivered, not from cold, but from fear. The eyes of the wolf captured Icarus' attention. The urge to flee dissapated as the pup became deeply intruiged by the glowing purple eyes and crescent moon on its forehead. Unintentionally, Icarus released a light whine as he realized some of the deer might be eaten by the wolf.

His ears pressed into his skull at the pup's words. He had been told he looked weird before, all right - by his very own pack: told that he looked more like the cold-blooded reptiles than a wolf. Coming from this little one, even, it still stung. "Yes, well. Not as weird as you, warm one." A'cuil growled the words, nicer than most he had said so far.
And nicer than those he would say still. "What are you talking about?" He said, glaring at Taki - and snorting quietly at the strange tuft of fur on her head. "I'm here because it is my duty. Why are you here?" Silly girl. This was hardly time for ridiculous questions. "And I don't need your food." Dry laughter left his throat at the very idea! He was warrior - wolf of the mountains - beast of survival!
His eyes roved over to Rouqie at last as she spoke, and he nodded reluctantly. "Has he? Well, so have we all." But nonetheless, he moved away from the group. His eyes touched on the icy male, but dismissed him with another quiet snort. "Shall I bring back another deer?" He asked Rouqie, "since so many mouths have appeared?"

Cratea bounced happily after Haku. She wasn't alone anymore! Unable to decide where she was going to walk, she jumped from one side to the other, every once in a while catching his tail with one of her paws. "I'm Cratea. So who are we going to see? And I don't need an help. " The pup had a complete personality makeover when she had the luck to run into him.

"No." Rouqie replied, turning slowly away from the unnaturally white male, ready for any sudden movements. "I think it would be better is we hunted all together. Besides, the little ones will need to learn, that is, unless it is beneath you to tutor pups." The hollow feeling in the air gave Rouqie's words more insult than she had intended. The mountain wolf's standoffish nature had been grating on her ever since he was assigned to protect the group as the other went off to battle.
