I could understand where you're coming from if this was the 60's and the M16 was terribly unreliable, but now? It's more accurate, the sights are better, not to mention more appealing to the eyes. The AK47 is an ugly a** gun. I meant among Kalushekovs. All I'm gonna say is, look up the M16. Look up it's stats and it's performance compared to other assault rifles, that's all I can tell you. And if you don't like the fiberglass stock you can get a wooden one. M16 are all military. Public equivilant in the AR15, not as reliable but still good. An M16 will almost never jam, is highly accurate, and the makers even brag that you can pick it up out of the mud, point, and shoot. Yea, it's definitely not a toy. And I'm not sure what your fiance meant when he said that, but I can tell you that anything short of a 50. BMG is not going to kill the target instantly in a single shot without hitting either the brain or the heart or the spine.

Archduke wonderwaffle The old 'Nam issue M16 was a jam-o-matic from what i've heard. Don't know much about the newest model though. That's true, but it's only because the man in charge at the time skipped the normal phase where the weapon is test fired and checked for errors in order to get it into combat as soon as possible. The a*****e... Modern M16's are very reliable, because they've been around long enough to have all the bumps in their design smoothed out through trial and error.

Get ANYTHING smaller, and they may take a few rounds before they die.

name is chris. been around guns for many years, ex .mil with about 3 yrs in, I attend machinegun shoots as well so I can tell you quite a bit about select fire weapons in both .mil and in the class 3 category. I also own several guns and generally not biased between AR and AK as I own both.
I am a well established hater of and heavily biased against the abominiation that is the 5.7x28 cartridge and believe it's existence should be wiped off the face of the earth for all eternity. same goes for .357 sig. both are retarded cartridges. I can probably think of more that are stupid and deserve to die.
