As the dark-colored Buck releases Twilight, Lower Down, tenses in case of an attack-- but there is none. Manslaughter simply ups and walks away, and when he's far enough away not to be seen any more, Lower finally relaxes a little. The laugh the other makes is chilling in it's sound, no doubt, but he simply snorts and moves over to Twilight, checking over her without actually touching her.
"You alright?" His dark purple eyes are lit with concern and a bit of lingering anger, but he is noticeably more calm now that the threat is gone. He turns his gaze then, to Peeper, as if to ask the same question of the pink buck.

Peeper hops once, almost in place, and considers Lower Down, and then Twilight. It's almost solemn for him--for a moment. Then he grins and his tail flicks back and forth in a way that signifies amusement. "You have an admirer and he's a creeper, Twilight. Man, aren't you lucky?" He shakes his head very hard, sending his ears flapping back and forth, and hops in place again, like he's limbering himself up. "Bet if we keep calling him a creeper he'll never show his face again. We could always try flicking mud at him next time, too. What do you think?" He turns bright eyes on them both; no lingering signs of fear here, no sir, just cheer and amusement and a plan so obnoxious that only a pink poodle could come up with it.

"Unfortunately, I doubt calling him a creeper will run him off, and flicking mud, well." She sighs, thankful that the whole creepy ordeal is over. "He was hiding under that mangrove tree, so mud is the least of his worries." She sounds shaken, and she is, but thankfully she's completely fine. He didn't do much: just pinned her down and breathed on her, but it's enough to make her shudder.
"I'm alright," she reassures Lower Down, seeing the concern in the buck's eyes. Her plan for exploring this pond now thoroughly destroyed, she realizes that she's even lost the glinting jewel she'd found at the bottom, and snorts in irritation. "It's probably best that we get out of here, isn't it? Before another kimeti decides to play gator and stalk us through the Swamp."

The brown-and-purple buck simply laughs softly at Peeper's suggestion-- a nice sound after the chilling cackle of that nightmarish-kimeti and his dog. It's warm and full of life, and the glint of mischief shines in his eyes once more, as ever-- as if moments before he hadn't gone completely serious with a hardness in those same eyes that would make a stone envious.
He turns to Twilight after a moment, nodding simply, realizing that in the scuffle the little jewel had either been trampled into the muck or else kicked into the deeper, algae-filled water surrounding the clear pond. For some reason, he feels some regret at that, even if he'd never cared to collect baubles. "Yes... it probably is. Perhaps all of us might walk together until we get out of this mess-- just in case. He seems to be gone, but I wouldn't put it past him to come sniffing back after a time."

Peeper considers this, head dipping, then grins again. "Sure, why not? I don't mind." Either Twilight's orneriness has been forgotten (likely) or Peeper has decided that they're just too interesting to wander away from just yet. Though he does still bounce. "Where to?" His tail twitches back and forth and Bleeding Heart chitters quietly from his spot curled between Peeper's shoulders. If the mongoose were a slightly different shade of pink, it would be almost impossible to distinguish them.

Twilight sets a sedate pace away from the pond, not really concerned anymore with keeping her coat clean -- she walks slowly through the water until it goes from knee-high to ankle-high, and then up onto the swampy ground. Somehow it's much nicer to be back in the marsh, even if it is the same swamp everywhere you look. And here, where the mangroves and cypresses aren't tangled so thickly together and clotted with moss, there are less places to hide. Twilight chews this thought over slowly, as it's not one she's ever had to think before -- and then decides that it's a good thing, if a little strange.
She looks over her shoulder at the other two bucks, "C'mon. I know a decent place to go and eat sweet berries. I can almost guarantee nobody will leap out of a tree at us there."

As the three of them move through the muck, the shadows growing longer as the day wears thin, Lower Down is quiet. He doesn't say anything until they reach the end of the bog-- but it's not a tense quiet, not really, just thoughtful. He takes his time, following behind Peeper and Twilight, and observes the two of them while he thinks about their encounter with Manslaughter. Part of him knows that he'll likely never forget that encounter-- mostly because it was just so strange. There had never been a kimeti like that who crossed his path before-- so vicious and obviously a thing of evil. But then as Twilight's voice breaks the quiet, he smiles a little and nods at her and the other buck.
"That sounds great... All that excitement has left me hungry. Maybe we can get some rest there, too. It looks like it's starting to get dark, soon."

He never walks. He doesn't even walk now. Instead he bounces, making little wavelets and splashes, in Twilight's wake. It seems obvious that someone like Peeper would like sweet things, except-- well, he doesn't particularly. "Sure, I'll go that far with you." Bleeding Heart is clinging tightly between his shoulders and he's perfectly happy to go springing around with them that far-- and then maybe a little further. There's more to see tonight, after all.

It's not a short walk, but it is, at least, a pleasant one. The trees thin out just a touch, enough that the sky overhead is visible and painted with all of the vivid oranges, roses, and purples of sunset. It's Twilight's favorite time of day, and she spends a great deal of her time looking up through the branches, watching the sky turn colors. By the time they get to the berry patches, they're in a different part of the swamp entirely; the ground there is drier and the trees more spread out, giving way to wonderful bushes chock-full of sweet, juicy dark-red berries.
Standing at the edge of the thatch of berries, switching her tail across her legs, Twilight looks pleased. This isn't the kind of place a kimeti like Manslaughter -- an evil kimeti -- would go. And although the encounter was scary, she's made two new friends out of it... and one bounces. Peeper will be an endless source of amusement for as long as he sticks around.
She finds herself smacking her lips in anticipation, something she would normally never do if she was aware she'd done it. Finally she just tosses her head and starts gleefully forward, already tasting the sweet-tart berries. "Let's eat!"
It will be an excellent way to spend the rest of the evening.
