Kazvar grunted in appreciative agreement to Zerens assessment of the yet unseen Wher... and then choked on his Klah, thumping a fist on his chest to clear it as he recovered from the Flits continued bizarre behavior. Dragon Dung. It -liked- him.
Quick: what had he done to cause this? s**t. No idea.
"What..." He started, cleared his throat several times and coughed again. "The shards does she expect me to do with it? Cook it into a pie for her?"
Kazvask caught the whorl of surprise, and, after determining that it wasn't matched by threat, broadcasted his amusement to Kazvar.

Zeren was both horrified and slightly amused as Viska deposited her kill on Kazvars boots, though it was tinged with a little bit of jealousy that Viska hadn't brought it to HIM. "Sorry Kazvar Sir, she doesnt care what you do with it, just ... pick it up and tell her she's good" he said gulping "its the best way to keep her hunting snakes in the barracks" he admitted, finishing his Klah.

Kazvar heaved a sigh and stooped down to pick up the tunnel snake. It was an impressive kill for something her size, and he could always give it to Kazvask.
"...Good job." he noted, somewhat sparsely. "You should bring the next one to Zeren."

Viska positively wriggled in her skin, she hummed to Kazvar and even went so far as to fly up to Zeren's shoulder rather than climb him painfully like she usually did, she rubbed his cheek with her head and sent warm happy feelings to him.
Zeren smiled depiste the slight grump he'd been in, after all who could resist the flit when she gave such happy vibes off. "i think you made her happy Kazvar Sir" he said with a slight grin, he refilled his Klah and drank it down, eager for his first task now that he was in a better mood and he was more alert due to the Klah.

Kazvar cleared his throat uncomfortably and tried to think of how to restore his armor of irritability and un-approachability, which the flit was determined to chew off.
"Wonderful." He added, a bit uncertainly. He still wasn't exactly clear how he'd impressed the creature so vigorously, but it wasn't doing much for his ability to look intimidating.
He polished off the rest of his Klah somewhat hastily, only having one cup before he put down the cup and figuring it might be best to move along and take the boy to meet Kazvask. If for no other reason than he could get rid of the tunnel snake, which he didn't feel like carrying around.

Zeren shrugged off his feelings of inadequecy in order to focus on the jobs he was going to do "Kazvar sir, i can take that if you want?" gesturing to the tunnel snake carcass, notcing that Kazvar didnt much like having been presented with it. Viska had decided to chitter into his ear about something blue, and images of the tunnel snake "Sir, i think she wants you to give it to your Wher" he said nervously and caressed her chin.

"I thought he might enjoy it." Kazvar admitted. "You can try your hand at giving it to him if you'd like." He suggested. It had been a while since Kazvask had decided to go with his own theory on someone and made a go at fingers, and he was pretty sure that while he might do some wing display in bluff, to show who was really in charge, he was unlikely to actually try and hurt the boy. "Let you get a closer look at Dragons other kin."
Especially if the boy was remotely serious about trying to pursue a Wher-egg if his impression chances didn't turn up gold, so to speak.

Zeren gluped a little, nervous of meeting the Wher but he forced it down "yessir, i'd love to try and see if he'd take it from me" he said, trying to be enthusiastic rather than nervous after all, he was dreading the day he was too old to stand, he'd becme a Wherhandler if he could, just to prove to his parents he wasn't just some shadow of his dead sister, he'd PROVE he was better than she could have been. He was sick of living in her shadow, here, at the weyr, where no one knew his past really, was great, no one took pity on him, and no one compared him to someone who didnt even exist anymore.

"I wouldn't offer if I didn't think you'd get your whole arm back, though not all Wher's are like that." Kazvar noted. "Never approach one without talking to their handler. Brooding queens especially so." He repressed a shudder, barely, at his own memory. "Come outside then." He indicated, still holding the tunnel snake he gestured back toward the outdoors, cooler with the sun down. He hadn't missed the gulp, and he didn't disapprove of it. It would have been foolish not to be a little afraid of the stocky, powerful, -dangerous- kin to dragons, since unlike their much prettier, larger kin, there wasn't anything stopping them from mauling or killing a human, save training.
"Nerves are fine. Nerves keep you alive."
He purposefully didn't clarify if he meant this to be a general statement, or one specifically regarding the care and feeding of Watchwhers.

Zeren nodded at the comment about a brooding Gold Wher "yes Kazvar Sir, i remember the Dragon Queen at the hatching, i thought she was never going to let the babies find Theirs" he said, eyes shining as he remembered that day. He put his hand down since the Wherhandler kept a hold of the tunnel snake carcass and followed him outside. He nodded again, his mouth dry at Kazvar's comment on Nerves keeping you alive, in the dark, where it was hard to see, he had to admit the older man was right, there could be anything lurking out there, just beyond the glows so it paid to be cautious.

As if summoned by the flicker of uncertainty, Kazvask appeared, his eyes swirling with colors just on the edge of the glows, before the hefty, dark blue Wher stepped toward them a few steps, muscles rolling under thick hide. The sharp differentiation between most of his light and dark markings made the steep differences between his build and a dragons, especially the prickly protrusions on his head, neck, shoulders and tail, stand out and look even sharper than they necessarily were, and made his teeth stand out sharply against a dark muzzle.
The Wher stopped where he stood, nostrils flaring and eyes narrowing at the light of the glows, and he looked between Kazvar and the boy before abruptly flashing open his tattery, too small looking wings, displaying eye markings in a prankish display, fully intended to startle. He turned his attention then, wings still flared but closing slowly to his sides again, to the dead dangling tunnel snake in Kazvar's grip, eye color changing to hunger and interest as Kazvar only then offered it sidelong to Zeren.
"Want to try?" He offered, while the flicker of nerves was still visible in Zeren's eyes. He thought it wouldn't be a bad test. He'd already assured himself fairly enough from Kazvask's cues that the Wher wasn't planning to attack the boy, if he had disapproved of him that strongly, he'd have stayed outside of the light of the glows, regardless of Kazvar's coaxing, to take advantage of his dark colored hide, but he was pretty sure Zeren didn't know that.
He himself had his own thoughts on the brooding queen. He watched hatchings, same as anyone, but it was an squirm of discomfort that he'd never fully been able to quell, and it had actually gotten worse after taking Kazvask's egg, transposing the dangerous Gold Wher with the size and controlled power of the Dragon Queen, seeing the damage she -could- do, if something ever liberated a dragon from the secret bonds that seemed to hold them back from harming humans, once they were past the blind -need- to impress.
What if. The voice prodded still. What if that changed?

Zeren stared as the Wher came out of the darkness, despite the 'ugly' features of the creature Zeren could see the beauty within the Wher, the contrast between the dark and light blue was actually quite pretty. When the stood and flashed his wings, he had to force himself not to jump back in fright.
He stood shaking his hands balled into fists in fright, though he stood his ground and slowly reached out for the snake in Kazvar's hand. He sighed as the Wher seemed to calm a little, so he decided to hold the tunnel snake carcass out to the wher *there's a good Wher, little green caught you some food* he sent towards the wher, as well as speaking it out loud so that Kazvar heard too, Viska crooned on his shoulder to the pretty blue Wher.

Not a bad approach, Kazvar figured, quirking the corner of his mouth almost invisibly as the boy, in spite of his trembling, held out the dead tunnel snake, though the Wher staunchly refused to come further into the uncomfortable light, sending back to both a brief glimpse of his view, bright colors which seemed to have no direct correlation to human eyes with the actual colors revealed by the glows, though there was no hostility, just a sense of discomfort, similar to trying to adjust to eyes dazzled by stepping from the darkness of a tunnel into the dazzling brilliance of mid day.
"He doesn't like the light." Kazvar clarified. "Watchwher's are nocturnal for their eyes, not their vanity." The joke was, for him, rare, but he was somewhat amused afterall. And not a little bit impressed, which he let slide into his tone of voice.

Zeren jumped, getting the image the Wher sent "OH" he blinked, then Kazvar spoke "the glows are too bright?" he commented, rushing to the nearest glow and turning it so that it got darker, he moved to the next nearest and turned that too before he realised the grumpy Kazvar had made a slight joke. He turned and flashed a honest smile at Kazvar before paying attention to the rest of the glows in the area, until it was almost too dark to see anything. "is that better boy?" he said to the Wher, before moving back to stand beside Kazvar and offered the snake again, bending down to the Whers eye level where it stoood on all fours.

Kazvar raised both eyebrows steeply, shedding unexpected light on steel gray eyes that rarely escaped the shadow of his furrowed brows.
He didn't want to admit it, but he really was growing impressed, which caused another flash of amusement from Kazvask.
The Watchwher flared his nostrils again, taking in the mix of scents around the Wher, and especially those of Kazvar, Zeren, and the delicious fresh killed Tunnel snake, before making a curious gutteral sound of approval and padding forward. His paler markings made it slightly easier to track him in the darkness, but only just, these and glints on his hide giving an idea of where he was moving and how as he stepped forward, hot breath blasting over exposed skin as he reached forward to take the offered tunnelsnake. Although he'd never be close to dragon size, he didn't require much bending, at least when he felt inclined to raise his head from a lowered, almost stalking stance.
