Sho was aware that he was scaring the dark haired kid. Then again he was used to scaring a lot of people so it was nothing new to him. Shrugging it off the pale haired male shifted his weight to one side as he waited for his response with an eyebrow crawling upwards with each second that passed. Finally he got a negative shake of the head that had him full out frowning as the kid started scrambling in his backpack. He was not amused damnit.

"Alright, what the f**k is your-oh."He bite off his retort as Doormat wrote something out on the paper and held it up for him to read. It took him a second to work through the Japanese because he'd been reading and speaking English for so long but as it process he realized he hadn't heard the idiot talk at all since he'd met him. Kid was a damn mute? Figures. Sho's arms lifted and crossed his chest as he glared over the kids head towards the door with a full frown on his lips.

"Yeah fine, whatever."Blue eyes glanced towards the dark haired male that had obviously been here longer and therefore would be a better person to ask about the damn internet and where to find a f**king computer around her, but unfortunately Sho's conscious was not happy. Damnit all to f**king hell. Mentally cursing and working around the fact that he felt he owed Doormat for bitching him out when the a*****e couldn't read he sighed and jerked his head towards the door.

"Come on then, help me find the damn computer room."It was not even slightly gracious an invitation, but Sho was grumpy over not being able to shrug off his actions. He was an a*****e, he'd freely admit, but there was a softness somewhere under there he hadn't managed to kill yet. Not giving the red-eyed Doormat a chance to write out a response he started for the door.

The red-head had passed out not long after introducing himself which was fine by Kaito because it allowed him to work on his sketches in silence once more. He far preferred the quiet to the louder sounds of conversation and he took advantage of it as he didn't believe he'd be getting much peace for the remainder of the year. The tree with the bird he'd started sketching earlier was being recreated with the charcoal to give some of the vibrancy of the creature while maintaining the greyscale. He might be tempted to add color later but for now this was enough.

As he expected, based off the number of beds, it wasn't long before the door opened once more to reveal their last roommate. The pencil didn't pause in its even strokes, making sure the pressure was only adjusted to mimic the colors he'd seen from the window earlier. Dark blue eyes were hidden by the longer bangs thanks to the tip of his head and he paid no more attention to the blonde than he had to Jack when he'd first entered. His empty expression locked on the smooth movement of his hand and the image coming to life on the white paper.

The blonde moved just on the edge of his peripheral vision, making it to the last bed and setting down on the center where Kaito would have completely ignored him had it not been for the bright chipper announcment that broke the silence of the room and earned him a flat glare from over the edge of his book and behind his bangs.

"Doubtful."
He drawled, dropping his attention once more to the sketch before licking his finger and sliding it along a line much as he'd done with the pencil, only he flicked his hand in an upwards gesture to draw the medium in a different way to gain more than just the shading effect but an almost three-dimensional one. His head cocked slightly to one side as he pulled his hand back and hovered it over the paper while making sure the effect had come across correctly on the white sheet.

When he heard the artists response and saw his glare, his smile faltered, only to light back up again like a flickering light bulb. "Hehe. I hope you change your attitude one day. Friendship is a grand thing not to be missed." Dion tilted he head to the side and grinned wider. "If you don't mind my asking, can I know your name?"

While he waited for some sort of response, Dion stood and started to put his clothes away in the dresser available to him. All of the shirts he owned were happy, bright colors to match his mood. Not one was black. The same with all of his socks.

"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."

Akira thought for a moment. He really didn't feel like pissing this guy off anymore by refusing...plus he was actually a bit interested in finding the library. The crimson-eyed boy had also become fairly used to reading people's faces during his years of silence (though he was still as naive as ever when it came to figuring out what people were thinking), and he thought he detected a bit of softening in the other boy's annoyed expression. This only relieved him very slightly, as Akira never had an easy time trusting people, but he decided to accompany his roommate anyway (while still keeping a bit of distance). He gave a small nod, and stood, waiting for the pale-haired boy to go ahead of him.

"Not likely."
Kaito responded without lifting his head from his paper. He was adding some of the dotted swirls in places along the plumage and he had to make sure they faded correctly into the rest of the bird the way his minds eye had painted them. As for friends, it was an over-rated display at the best of times. Friends were only there to use you, even if it was only in something so innocent as not having to be alone. It was an activity that Kaito had never indulged in and doubted he ever would.

"Sorazorashii Kaito, eleventh grade."The blue haired artist introduced himself formally, not breaking his attention away from the paper as he added a few last important details and then set down the pencil in order to flip between the two drawings of the wren. It wasn't that he was being cruel but simply that he didn't care. It was very, very rare for anything to catch his interest but he never actively hated anyone either. He had nothing against the blonde he just didn't even think of him at all. Movement caught his eye and he partially glanced up in time to see a riot of color being put away into drawers. The blue eyed male blinked slowly, one eyebrow vanishing under his bang as he looked at the massive collection of color, it was almost painful. The page was flicked over to an empty sheet and the charcoal put away in favour of his more usual pencil.

Though not in color he quickly began sketching the image, his mind drifting to the shades he'd need to remember to catch the explosion that was occurring in front of him. Well ordered riot of color that was unlike anything he'd seen before. Oddly the painting contained not even a trace of the boy, just the open drawers and the spill of cloths that would need to be colored for full effect. He traced rapidly to get it all down before the image broke.

It took a moment before the kid apparently decided he wasn't gonna murder him in a dark hallway or whatever the f**k was going through Doormat's head. Rolling his bright blue eyes he raked a hand through the silver hair as the other boy nodded and got up to move towards the door where Sho was standing. Satisfied the pale boy turned and finished leaving the room into the hallway. A fight seemed to be happening up towards the higher numbers but he ignored it and turned the opposite direction.

"Where the hell would they put s**t like that?"He asked aloud, clearly not expecting an answer from the mute that was following him as he moved through the students still trying to locate their rooms and get everything set up. He didn't dodge anyone, letting them get out of his way rather than the other way around. Those not quick enough got just about the same treatment that Doormat had gotten when he'd first run into him...literally.

"So do you now sign language or something? Or are we gonna have to get you a damn slate to carry around your neck and tell us what the f**k your thinking?"Sho asked over his shoulder, turning his head slightly so the blue could hit the shorter male trailing along behind him. He was keeping part of his attention out for a teacher. Those weirdos HAD to know where the hell a computer lab or library or whatever the hell it was, was at. He was not staying here without the net. Forget that s**t. He'd find a way to fix his computer as soon as possible but he had stuff to look at tonight and he wasn't the patient type.

Dion shrugged when the boy gave another negative response. He hoped his bright and chipper attitude would rub off on his roommate one day. He wanted to make at least one friend at this school and preferably one that was his roommate.

Dion paused in putting away his clothes when he heard Kaito's grade and swiftly turned around. "Whoa! You're in eleventh grade? You're older than I thought." Dion gave a small laugh. "I'm only in eighth grade myself. I should be in ninth, but my mom told me I had been asleep for a long time and never finished eighth grade. So I have to start over."

Maybe if I share some of my life, he'll open up, Dion thought. Though with Kaito's current attitude, he couldn't have high hopes. But hope he would anway. He turned back around and finished putting away his clothing then pulled the last item that he had brought with him out of his bag. He set the picture of his mother on his beside table after giving it a swift kiss.

"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."

Akira heard his roommate's question, and shook his head. He had stopped speaking altogether about 5 years ago, but he had never bothered to learn sign language. He had actually never even thought about it, his collection of little notebooks (which he always kept, for some reason) had always been enough. The ebony-haired boy wasn't very used to expressing many of his thoughts anymore anyway, even on paper. Akira scrawled on his notepad again, underneath the word he had written earlier.

Ryou Takuma smiled as he exited his car. He was looking forward to helping to mold the brains of all the teenaged students...and seeing his little cousin Akira for the first time in almost seven years. The tall blonde smiled warmly at the boys who were still wandering the school grounds, and began to walk towards the dormitory, carrying two duffel bags and pulling a fairly large suitcase on wheels behind him. The bottom floor of the large building apparently had a few rooms especially for teacher's aides, along with a large cafeteria and small library (there was a larger one in another building). After a few moments, Ryou was setting his things down in his room, and wondering what dorm his dear cousin had been assigned to.

"Indeed."Kaito murmured, his tone suggesting he hadn't likely heard a word the other boy had actually said, he was merely responding to what sounded like a question. His hands were rapidly moving over the sketch, managing to catch every detail he could while locking colors correctly for him to paint it later. He managed to get the last detail into place just as the drawer was closed and his new room mate managed to finish unpacking with one final chore of bringing out a picture and kissing it. No warmth touched the dark blue orbs as Kaito relaxed back once more and turned the page.

The blue haired boy turned his head slightly as he set his hand, the pencil held lightly between two fingers, on the top of the notebook that now only showed a blank page waiting for his hand. He usually didn't manage to paint quite as many pictures as he had today. Though most of them had been quick sketches and nothing more. Yet he didn't feel like returning to the more refined version of the bird he'd been working on before the blonde had come into the room. Satisfied with the silence he was sure he'd get from his rather lacking responses to the boy's probing, he leaned his head back slightly so it rested against the head board and he could stare with empty eyes out over the grass just visible through the leaves and branches of the tree blocking his line of sight. The wind ruffled his bangs slightly as he closed his eyes and manged to convey a sense of being done talking. Not that he was sure the other boy would take it up given he seemed the type to talk, but eventually Kaito always got his way.

The response he got for his question was a quick shake of the dark head behind him, visible only because the angle he'd turned his own head to see. His azure orbs rolled from behind the strands of silver blocking his line of sight as the boy wrote down a quick note on his paper and held it up for him to see.

"Figures. I'll have to just hang a damn chalk board from your neck. What the hell do you do if you don't have a damn pen? Write that s**t in blood?"He shook his head, transferring his attention to the front of them as he turned down a corridor that wasn't quite as full as the one before had been. Obviously they were moving away from the students dormitories and heading into the area's that would likely be used during classes. Which should mean there was a damn library off this direction somewhere...at least there better be. He didn't plan on f**king wandering around all day looking for the damn place!

"Haven't these a*****e's heard of signs?"Sho growled as he reached out a hand to push open a door they were near and stuck his head inside only to see neatly arranged seats. He wrinkled his nose at the thought of being stuck int here come tomorrow before pulling the door closed and wandering deeper down the hallway.

"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."

Akira shook his head once again for his companion's benefit, wondering why he kept referring to a chalkboard. He realized that his roommate had probably come to the conclusion that the silent boy was an actual mute. He wasn't surprised, most people usually did. But most people came and went quickly in Akira's life, it didn't take them long to tire of his lack of effort to get close to anyone. Most of them gave up on him before it would even occur to the raven-haired teen to think of telling them the truth. But he would be living in close quarters with the blue-eyed boy for a while...he wondered if he should at least tell the boy that he was physically capable of speech. Akira decided to consider more later, and wrote once more on his trademark notepad.

Ryou stepped out of his room. He just couldn't wait to see the look on Akira's face when they finally saw each other again. He walked up a nearby set of stairs, he had learned from a map of the school that the chairman had sent to him that student dorms began on the second floor. He would just start looking there. Bell Liberty Academy wasn't actually that large of a school, so Ryou didn't think it would take him too long to find the younger boy.
A small crowd of boys were milling about the second floor hallway, so he didn't spot Akira right away. The blonde looked passingly from face to face, searching for the familiar black hair, and crimson eyes they had both inherited from their fathers. Ryou's gaze was about to pass right over an annoyed looking boy with silvery hair and clear blue eyes, when he suddenly caught a glimpse of blood red right behind the boy. The new teacher's aide grinned.
"Found you..."

Another door was jerked open and Sho swept the room with a quick glance, some sort of band room maybe? What the hell was with the tiered flooring? Schools were so f**ked up. He slammed the door with a little more force than necessary as he continued leading Doormat further and further down the hall looking for just one damn computer! He scowled and drifted towards the opposite wall where windows looked down into the yards outside to see if he could peer into any opposing windows and see a computer. He heard the scratching of the pen against paper and turned his head enough to quickly scan the writing. Well at least the dickhead was going to give him a crash course in remembering Japanese... wouldn't his parents just be SO proud?

"You can't ALWAYS have one? What if it runs out of ink or some s**t? Or someone stills the damn thing? Seriously, its a stupid way to talk to people."He snorted moving around one of the few people in this portion of the halls, not worried about offending them. He'd been in one form of fighting or another for years despite his parent's protests, it was their own damn fault for putting him in it in the first place. "teach him to control his emotions" bullshit.

"Okay, so say your wrist or fingers get broken, what the f**k would you do then?"He asked, sounding genuinely interested in-spite of himself as he turned so he was walking backwards so he could arch an eyebrow at his dark haired room mate. Doormat had some serious issues...with his back turned he didn't see the adult that behind him now. Not that he'd have payed any attention to him, one adult was just the same as another damn one.

"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."

Akira shrugged. Nothing like what the boy had said had ever happened to him, so he had no idea what he'd do. The shorter boy thought about it, knowing his roommate expected some sort of answer.
Suddenly Akira caught a glimpse of someone with eyes similar to his own appear a few yards ahead of his companion, who was now facing him. The person to whom the eyes belonged had a familiar shade of blonde hair.
The dark-haired teen's mind went blank in an instant, and he stopped short, dropping his pen and pad. Though most people wouldn't have thought it possible, his face suddenly grew even more pale than usual, his cheeks appearing almost translucent. Akira was frozen, his one visible eye wide as a dinner plate.
A single thought tore through his mind almost painfully, soon followed by images he had never wanted to think of again.
"...Ryou...!?"

Getting caught up in the subject, the perpetual annoyance drained from the blue eyes leaving an almost boyish excitement as all he got from the dark haired male was a shrug regarding his questions. He hadn't even THOUGHT about it? He can't talk, he only wrote, and he hadn't worried about running of ink or something? Seriously strange kid.

Sho opened his mouth to ask another question when the red eyed male looked just slightly past him and suddenly froze. What little color he had drained away leaving him looking pale and gaunt like he'd seen a ghost. Instantly the blue eyes darkened as he came to a stop as well and swept his gaze around the room. F**k this is why he hated people, how the hell were you supposed to tell what scared them? What the hell set him off? Fire, dead body....apparently a teacher.

"Wow, f**k, calm down, Doormat."He moved forward quickly as the kid practically swayed, his eye so dilated that it was almost impossible to see the red but for a thin band around the black. Kid looked like he was damn near close to passing out. Instinctively, Sho reached out and steadied him by holding his upper arm to make sure he didn't go down in a heap given he looked seconds from playing a fainting heroine. His frown was more than eloquent at expressing his annoyance as he swept his gaze towards the male that might have set it off, but hell, his back had been to him he could have seen the damn specter of Christmas past for all the hell he knew!

"What the hell's got you so spooked?"he growled, if he'd been a dog all the fur along his back would have been up. Sho was starting to get pissed cause the kid was straight up TERRIFIED, not just scared, but like not f**king BREATHING scared.

Ryou caught up with Akira and his companion just in time to hear the blue-eyed boy ask what his cousin was so spooked about.
Not giving the vocal boy a chance to see him first, the blonde placed a hand innocently on his shoulder, so that he was standing next to the dark-haired boy's new friend, and just a couple of feet across from Akira.
"Well hello Akira-kun. It's been a long time. Won't you introduce your favorite cousin to your new friend here?"
Ryou turned his warm (and almost imperceptibly fake) smile towards the boy next to him, putting the slightest amount of pressure on the boy's shoulder as he uttered the words 'favorite cousin'.

Akira didn't even feel feel his roommate's hand on his arm, it was like his body was numb. Out of the corner of his eye he say the pale-haired boy's mouth moving, but didn't hear a sound. Until Ryou placed a hand on the taller student's shoulder. Then the blonde opened his mouth, and the now ghostly white boy heard him speak as though from miles away.
Akira's visible eye twitched a bit at the words "favorite cousin", but everything else stayed frozen. He could not even think that he wanted to move at all. The only things in his mind now were his cousin's overly cheerful eyes, and too-wide grin.

As soon as a hand settled on his shoulder Sho's azure orbs went arctic. He turned his head slightly so the frigid orbs could land on the tall blonde male that was smiling at his room mate and asking for an introduction despite the fact he was obviously upsetting the dark haired boy. His lips thinned into a slash as his glare managed to somehow get colder. The hand on his shoulder tightened on two words and that was enough for the silver haired male, even if Doormat didn't look like he was facing the f**king executioner.

"Get your f**king hand off me."His voice had gone flat and cold to match his expression, and the true difference between him in a temper and him as himself became obvious. Sho always ran hot, but his temper was colder than ice. He jerked his shoulder at the same time he snapped his arm up to knock the offending appendage away from him. In an instinctive move he shifted so he was standing between Doormat and the a*****e who was obviously enjoying scaring the living s**t out of his supposed 'cousin'.

"Go f**k yourself."he ground out, not worried about getting kicked out because he'd been kicked out of far better places and for far worse reasons. Baring his teeth in a facsimile of a smile he shifted so he could grab Doormat by the arm again and keep his taller frame between the two males as he started towing the stunned red-eyed room mate out of the way. He wasn't his friend, hell he probably didn't even like the damn kid, but there was no way in hell someone who inspired that sort of look was gonna be up to good. F**k that s**t. He'd find the damn computer lab down another hallway. Shooting another hard glance over his shoulder at the blonde he tried to get Doormat the hell out of there.

There's no escape for me, it wants my soul, it wants my heart.

Ryou was only slightly surprised at the icy-eyed boy's reaction, he had met (charmed, and had his way with) others like him. He knew the sharp tongued kid had probably figured out that he was not a student, the blonde did look older than most of the teenagers there, but Akira's companion didn't seem to care about getting in trouble. Ryou only continued to smile, he kind of liked troublemakers. Though he was a bit annoyed that the stranger had taken his cousin away, he just sat down nearby and continued to watch all the students wandering about. He'd have plenty of future chances to see them both.

"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."

Akira walked along mechanically as he was towed by his roommate. He had basically retreated deep inside himself, so that he was barely away of what was happening around him.
He kept hearing his older cousin calling his name, and barely breathed as random scenes from the past played in his mind like a movie.
...A fifteen year old Ryou being introduced to a then smiling Akira...
...A nine year old boy with black hair playing happily with a blonde teenager...
...Noticing for the first time the slightest hint of cold, calculating, cruelty hidden deep in the crimson eyes so similar to his own...
"Stop...." thought Akira.
...A hand that seemed to burn like never before on his shoulder....
...A flash of steel...
"NO!"
And suddenly the still silent boy had fallen to his knees, almost pulling his companion down with him. He could feel again, and felt the real hand on his arm.
The panicked boy jerked his arm from his roommate's grasp, not recognizing him for a moment, and clutched his knees tightly to his chest. Staring in his roommate's direction with a look of pure horror, he let out a breath he had been holding for almost 2 full minutes in a quick, quiet gasp. It was the first sound anybody had heard from his mouth in at least 2 years.
