Farellen laughed "now what fun would that be?!" he said, treading water as she swam in circles around him, his eyes watching her as she swam "this is fun, i'm glad you dragged me out here Gabriel" he said with a soft genuine smile.

Gabriel smiled back. "Yes, well, I thought a change from clothes folding was in order." That had just been entirely too boring. Giving a soft giggle, she swam around behind him and climbed onto his back. "Alright, if you are a dolphin then that means I can ride you, right? Swim, onward, Fishman!" she commanded, lifting one arm to point forward. Fortunately for Farellen she didn't weigh too much.

Farellen chuckled, and adjusted Gabriels arms around his neck slightly so he could swim "just put your hands on my shoulders" he said swimming strongly towards the bank, "i'm getting hungry what about you?" eyeing the picnic, glad that so far, it hadn't attracted unwanted visitors of any species.

Gabriel placed her hands on his shoulders, and couldn't help but laugh at his question. "We just got in the water, silly!" she pointed out, bopping him playfully on the back of the head. "Food does sounds rather good though, so maybe we can eat some then come back in?" She rather enjoyed swimming and came to the lake quite frequently as a result.

Farellen ducked his head as he was bopped, "well we can stay here if you like" he said rolling his shoulders a little. he stopped heading towards the bank and trod water "so, anything else in mind for today" he said.

Gabriel let go as Farellen rolled his shoulders, and floated patiently in the water behind him as he stopped to speak. "Oh, I dunno~" she said playfully. "It's still rather early, isn't it? I say we just make it up as we go along." She gave him one last splash before swimming back toward the shore to drip-dry. "So, remind me what we snagged from the kitchen again?"

Farellen thought for a second, and sent a small splash towards Gabriel, "sure we can wing it" he chuckled at his pun. He put on a mock thoughtful face as he recalled what they'd brought "well, we have meatrolls and some bread, i scroundged some cheese and a few slices of leftover wherry" he said trying to think of anything else "what did you snag?" he asked.

The teen grinned at the proffered list. "You're good. I wasn't able to snag any meats, but I did manage to grab some cheese, bread, and fruit. I think we'll have ourselves quite the meal." Indeed, even as she spoke she began to feel more hungry than she had even realized she currently was. Gabriel grabbed a small drying cloth and began drying herself off enough so that she would at least not soak the blanket through. "Picnic time it is then."

Farellen swam slowly towards the shore, admiring Gabriel as she dried off. "picnic time sounds great" he said jsut as his stomach growled "seems my gut thinks so too" he laughed . Once out of the water he retied his hair with the leather thing he used to that purpose. "what do you want to start with?" he asked sitting down, not bothering too much about his soggy pants, they'd dry in this heat soon enough.

"Does it matter?" she asked as she finished putting her tunic and pants back on. "I could probably go for some fruit though." Just as she sat down on the blanket, however, she began to here some chirping and trilling from not too far away. "Is that a... firelizard?" she asked slowly, straining to listen. Soon enough more of the little voices were beginning to join the fray. "Farellen, I think we might be near a nest!" she said excitedly, quickly grabbing up some meat and bread to carry with her. "Come on! let's check it out!" The two grabbed as much food as they could carry with them before running off in the direction of the noise. By the time they found the nest, the last of the hatched firelizards had just disappeared Between. "Aw, we missed them," she said with a small pout, looking over the remains of the eggs. Some movement soon caught her eye though. "Oh! there are two eggs left!" Out of one of the eggs hatched a very small dark green female, with two feet that were a much lighter shade of green. She trilled questioningly at the sight of the two, her eyes whirling red with hungry. "Come here, little girl. I've got plenty of food here." The teen projected warm and welcoming thoughts (as she had always been told to do) as she held out a small piece of meat for the baby, and the firelizard all but gobbled it down. Gabriel continued to feed her while trying to be as nonthreatening as possible. "Farellen, why don't you check out that other egg. It might hatch soon too."

Farellen was about to hand Gabriel some of the fruit when the trilling and chirping started to be heard, along with her statement of a nest nearby "Great MORE pests" he mumbled getting to his feet again and following her "you know there's probably Wherries and possibly even felines around with all this calling and stuff" he grumped but keeping close to her anyway.
"oh dear, looks like we missed them" he said sarcastically but was forced to eat his words as one of the two unhatched eggs split open showing a green flit that Gabriel immediately attempted to Impress, he could see that the other egg was rocking furiously as if the occupant was desperate to get out. At first Farellen considered just ignoring it but he hated to let even a fire lizard die for no reason, he figured that it could always just go off and join it's clutchmates wherever they'd gone. Grabbing a fair sized rock nearby he tapped hard on the eggshell, trying to split it without harming the flit inside.
The shell split neatly in two and a little silver form fell out covered in hatching goo. "Gabriel, a Silver!" he said picking it up and holding it out towards Gabriel, the flit on the other hand had other ideas and chittered harshly at the green almost in her arms then struggled up Farellen's arm painfully, settling under his hair and wrapping it's small tail around his neck. "what do i do?!" he asked.

"Feed it, ya dimglow! Look how hungry the poor thing is!" she replied, referring to its eyes. "Plus I don't think atypical flits can survive in the wild. They run out of energy quickly just like their young dragon counterparts." By this point it seemed that the little green flit had successfully attached itself to her, but she certainly didn't appreciate the harsh tones from her clutchmate. The green had started her own chittering back which Gabriel quickly diverted with some more food and petting. "Hm... What to name you..." she mussed aloud, leaving Farellen to deal with the other flit.

Farellen sighed and did as he was told, before he realised that it would mean the flit would 'Impress' him feeding it bits of meatroll he lifted it down off his shoulders and into his lap, looking down on the tiny creature he blinked "Shards Gabriel I didn't want this!" he said but some part of him already held a soft spot for the silver lizard.
Rather swiftly the little Silver's stomach was bulging and it snoozed in the sunlight and Farellen glared at Gabriel "why couldn't youhave fed it, you're fond of the things i see" eyeing her conversing with the little green. Absently he stroked the Silver Fire Lizard's head without noticing he was doing it.

"If you didn't 'want' him then you shouldn't have opened his egg in the first place," Gabriel pointed out, not at all phased by her friend's tone and glare. On the contrary, she was faintly amused by his reaction even. "Such a drama queen. Just think of it as practice for your future dragon," she said with a grin, petting her own flit who had likewise dozed off after being fed. "If you end up with an Atypical then you'll need to be used to the care they require. Besides, he's quite a cutie if you ask me." Indeed, the silver flit in the other teen's lap had very unique and striking markings on him. She was almost jealous... Almost. "Hm... I think I'm going to call her 'Mossy'." After all, the firelizard was dark green like moss, so why not?

"if you say so Gabriel and HEY! .. i wasn't about to let it die in the egg, just because it couldn't get out!" he said slightly grumpy that he apparently now owned a pesky fire lizard, though he did have to agree with her on a couple of points, while a heck of a lot smaller, caring for Flits, was pretty much the same as caring for dragons he guessed "hmm.. how about Zevra?" he mumbled, to which the silver kind of squeaked in his sleep, causing the corner of Farellen's mouth to twitch in amusement, ever so slightly "he IS kind of unique i guess, i dont know of any other silvers around here." Slowly he got up, cradling the flit in the crook of one arm. "we'd better go and inform O'rer" he said with a grimmace "these guys are likely going to interrupt our lessons... YOU can tell him since YOU wanted to come find them" he said with a chuckle.
