Wait a freaking second, what? How was this possible? James was running towards Cyrus, meaning his weight was moving forward. For him to dodge in such a manner, while even making an after-image, would be impossible since it was beyond human capabilities, even at their finest. Even if he left a flaming after image, the distance he could have traveled within the parameter of the 8 feet range Cyrus made indefinitely (since the run wasn't fixed and was adjusted to James's movement) was not enough considering the arc, speed, power, and range that was made with the seven foot lance. At the very least he would be skimmed, but that was even stretching it since the speed necessary to change direction enough to get out of the arc would be rather difficult to attain.

Since this technically defied all laws of human nature and god-damn physics, it seemed that Deus-Ex or 'God's Hand' was involved.

Presuming this bs passed for logic, Cyrus was still on the ground during this entire event. And after the release the right foot would be forward as the distance between the combatants would begin to close, though the fighters were still far enough apart for Cyrus to react properly. Cyrus himself would prep his legs and senses to move as he would wait till the moment he got close enough and began to actually punch forward. At that moment he would jump to the right to side step the uppercut and return with a cross to the ear that would disorient all of James's senses for a good moment should it land. Cyrus would prep the legs to jump at that moment, and he timed at the point where James couldn't just change direction of his punch. That's what could happen should a Cestuses with extra brass at the knuckles would be smashed into someone's most sensitive orientation organ.

James crossed six feet using a normal technique, a variant of the charging step of bajiquan, zhen jiao, who was to say that he couldn't cover eight feet while he was in a state of supreme empowerment?

Cyrus just barely whiffed him, his cross going over James's head. Aside from the flames surrounding James obscuring his outline, you just couldn't hit somebody accurately when they were moving that fast, the dumbass would've done better to aim for James's body, center of mass.

At that point, it was instinct that allowed James to track his opponent's miracle of a dodge, a blur in his own eyes, and catch him in midair with a bone-crunching left straight to the chest as the duration of his brief empowerment ran out. For all intents and purposes, Cyrus jumped into the explosive strike, and all the world to see, he would be flying away in a great deal of pain.

James crossed six feet using a normal technique, a variant of the charging step of bajiquan, zhen jiao, who was to say that he couldn't cover eight feet while he was in a state of supreme empowerment?

Which meant he was moving even closer into the arc of the lance which itself was freaking 7 feet long. This still didn't make a lick of sense since that meant technically he was moving straight at the thing full speed with no proper ability to dodge the assault. And if the 7 foot lance was moving in such an arc which made it so moving left, right, back, or forward didn’t work, there was no freaking way he could’ve dodged the entire thing scotch free.

Fierach

Cyrus just barely whiffed him, his cross going over James's head.

And with his cross, rather than retracting the right fist or setting back up for a guard, he would feel the fist going through James's hair and instead of retracting, would open his palm and lower the path of his fist to clutch the side of James's skull, where from there he would center his grip to the ear and maul the thing to disuse with an iron twisting grip. From there he would also yank James into himself where he would smash his right knee into his skull. If it landed, which it should

This entire movement would move at the same speed of the punch and take less than a second. James would have no time to react nor throw his left jab at all. The crowd would go wild in favor of Cyrus for once since he was actually not acting like a fool.

Cyrus missed grabbing into James's ear as the man bulldozed into him with his left straight and transferred all of the momentum he had into one single devastating punch that sent him flying.

A straight =/= a jab. Considering that jabs were usually also faster then straights, there was pretty much no doubt in anybody's mind that the man couldn't redirect his punch into a grab fast enough to stop himself from being, in the common vernacular, ******** owned.

And as for the crowd? Was there anybody really cheering for Cyrus? The spectators wanted action, blood, fighting, yet half the time Cyrus was the one running away like a coward and still managing to mouth off in his delusions. Hell, the dumbass had just about pissed himself shitless witnessing James unsheathe a knife, and lengthened a bar of lightning almost double in response.

How he dodged to clasp was unknown and also, what momentum was he talking about? James used all his momentum in an uppercut that had missed entirely. And now that he was moving closer toward Cyrus to throw a straight to god knows which part of the body, Cyrus didn't need to grab to yank him anymore, rather he would bend his shoulders and lean his back back to dodge the punch that presumably was toward the upper body.

And at the same time would force a clutch from the back of James's skull due to the body movement, from where he would force the head down and deliver a rock solid knee to his nose. His hand never left from it's position behind James's head, and now that he was in close range, dodging allowed him to put his hand in position to clutch again from the back this time and nail James. He couldn't exactly dodge this since Cyrus's fade put his hand back into a clutch and that was something he couldn't magically block like usual.

Well, it wouldn't matter what tactics Cyrus used, at least he wasn't a p***y like James and had to use a knife and steroids to fight. Plus the lance extension was used to make the spear have more range since he wanted to avoid being shanked like a smart person. The shorter lance would move faster but require more up close contact to be accurate.

Cyrus's right knee struck James square under his left arm, mostly because his face was pressed against his left shoulder during his punch, and that guarded him from lower attacks from that angle, and also prevented him from pulling his head down. One hand, not strong enough at the handle James was barreling in. Being hit in the armpit ******** hurt, but it was nothing James couldn't deal with.

Then the daemon-slayer presumably bowled Cyrus over, since the latter was on one leg. It was at this point that the martial artist quickly gained a mount his victim and began alternating between stabbing and punching the living s**t out of him. There was no flame, just a brutal beatdown.

Cyrus upon landing the knee was either forced to fall on his back and refer to Jiu-Jitsu or pivot step with his back left foot. The more desirable option was to pivot step, so he simply needed to lift his weight off his left heel (which is for the foot still on the ground) and unto his toes and using the momentum that was crashing into him, turn counter-clock-wise to have his left foot lead in front. And with his prior knee's motion path, this was very possible.

The reason he was able to do this was simple, he had his foot and his body in a position where he could either take the weight coming at him head on and fall over on his back or divert it to the left with the momentum coming from the knee and rotate to get solid footing. And since he had a solid pivoting foot and his knee was crossing from a back foot (meaning it was going from right to left inward), he had the momentum of the knee aiding in the pivot. And it also helped quite a bit that Cyrus had 30 some pounds on James to help with this move.

And with that, Cyrus was able to land solidly and also was able to divert some of James's momentum to the left. From there, James would be flung hard because he was trying to bowl him over with his weight and momentum, and Cyrus would throw a step-up left side kick to the ribs with his steel toe boots. James really couldn't guard after being flung like that unless he decided to fall over or use a dodge roll while falling. Even so, the impact of those two options would still hurt a bit and it would be a desperate dodge anyway.

James didn't know it was possible to take the weight off a foot while the other was still in the air, but it seems his opponent just managed to barely slip out of the way of his body slam. James took an ukemi, a break-fall technique as he landed on the ground roughly on a shoulder, facing Cyrus as the man came up to kick him on the ground.

He absorbed the hit handily with a quick cross arm-guard, and then Cyrus would feel nothing but pain as James retaliated by hacking viciously into the foot at the ankle before it could retreat. The knife , held in his right hand in a reverse grip, would bite deep and maim the foot completely.

Really. It wasn't the size of the weapon that mattered, it was how you used it. James did with a combat knife what Cyrus couldn't do with a makeshift lightsaber.

The Thunder Tyrant

PostPosted: Thu Jun 10, 2010 5:11 pm

A spectator in the crowd pointed out that "Deus Ex" did not mean "God's Hand." Deus was Latin for "God" and Ex was Latin for "of" or "from." The proper phrase was Deus Ex Machina, or "God from the machine."

The Latin word for hand was actually "manus."

Then the spectator, after breaking the fourth wall, promptly HERP DE DERP'D and died.

And then the crowd went wild!

"HERP-DE-DERP! HERP-DE-DERP! HERP-DE-DERP!"

Stopping the fight due to asking for interference and giving a ruling. The fight will resume after this ruling.

Ability misuse. Acropilis, you clearly stated about your magic use:

Quote:
With MP, he starts with 5 per fight, and once expended, he has no magic for the rest of the fight till he's out or his opponent is. As for Zeus Bolt, Since it wastes all magic, it would be like getting nailed by a thunderbolt straight from the sky if full contact was made, enough to pierce and burn through a good deal of metals, flesh, bone, etc. while dealing electric shock effects of parastalsis to the nearbye area of contact (though it is limited in a sense since this is designed to be thrown at a very high speed.) But it only goes vertically like a javelin.

He already used MP earlier in the fight, and since there was no regeneration of MP stated at all in both the profile or any of the clarifications we did with you, he is unable to use his Zeus Bolt attack. In fact, him using it should have basically given the win to James considering it's a very All or Nothing attack to begin with, thus knocking you unconscious.

However, I don't want to end the fight like that, so restart the fight from the post when you threw the Zeus Bolt. Basically, REWIND and re post from this time moment, only with the fact that your character only has 1 MP and can't use any Zeus Bolt at all.

Acropilis

Cyrus let out a muffled cry as he was sent flying a good few feet from the blast itself. He felt a rampant onrush of burns and aches as he later found himself on the ground about ten feet away from his opponent. He flew a good distance and he knew that the distance wasn't going to last long unless he did something. Blood soaked his neck and collar bone as the skin was charred as well. The burns all around his neck were overall pretty bad but the fact he was blown away in the process sparred him from death.

He could breathe and he could move, and that meant he could fight. He got up and took a few deep breathes as he began to pump his legs up and down a tad and move to the other side of the stadium. As he did so he would begin to focus all his energy into the ultimate attack he had, the Zeus Bolt, and in doing so he'd have to tap into his life force once more to squeeze more energy out. He was gasping for breath even harder as a solid bar of electricity, about 4 feet long and about inch thick, formed. It was pure lightning, and like it’s natural predecessor was 13 million joules and 30,000 degrees Celsius. It was held in a concentrated, straight, and almost javelin-like form. He held the pure bar of energy as he stared at Eredas with a death like grin.

The reason Cyrus didn't burn or electrocute himself was obvious since this incarnation of pure energy was partly his life force, meaning he wouldn't get hurt nor feel it's heat/energy in a harmful manner. But if this bad of energy even touched Eredas, the fight was done. If Eredas got hit in the heart, James was dead. But unfortunately this 'javelin', unlike its lightning counter part, would only fly, if thrown, at visible speeds. But it would be an azure blur just like lightning raging out of the sky. And it would still pierce and burn clean through Eredas's skin regardless of his heat resistance.

He wanted the demon hunter to finally get the clue that this was the end.

"This is it...."

He said as he held the bar of lightning parallel to the ground with the end facing James. The two combatants would still have a fair amount of distance between them at that time and if James approached Cyrus would obviously move away while keeping within the arenas boundaries. This was the last move, and he waited for James to approach...

Things that repeated itself

He could breathe and he could move, and that meant he could fight. He got up and took a few deep breathes as he began to pump his legs up and down a tad and stood his ground in his as usual right leg forward boxing stance, and he'd wait for James to rush at him since this time he had one hell of a plan in store for him...

"Stay down" the daemon-slayer muttered darkly.

The moment Cyrus tried to stand up, James simply struck at him with his signature flame technique, the Serpent Wave.

As he seemed to just glide a feet feet forward, James swept his right arm arm forth, projecting a searing, short-ranged wave of fire off his being with his right hand beind the focal point.

User Image

That was it, the flame technique for which James was known best for. What it lacked in actual power, heat, and range compared to most of his charged flame techniques, it made up for in size, range, and raw force. Already hard to dodge even for a normal person, being hit by it was like being struck by a giant, flaming fist.

For James to do that, he'd have to close the gap he just freaken made with his own 'Explosive Punch'. Meaning he'd have to run some ten feet and do this move, and thus there was no way he could close that distance fast enough for him to nail Cyrus as he was getting up. Cyrus had time, time enough to get up and quickly prep his already electrically charged right arm (which still had remaining energy from the half-completed Dual-Electric Leg Taser) to be ready to release volts of energy with enough power to taser someone completely.

So rather than just standing there and taking the hit, Cyrus would watch James's movement, and the moment he brought his flaming right hand to his left shoulder to pull off the wave attack, Cyrus would pounce forward and use his superior reach to pin and shove James's arm at the point right above the elbow back into his throat with his left hand, and then throw a brutal electric right cross to James's completely open and unguarded nose .

The initial 'hop' forward would be timed in sync with the pathetically weak footwork James presented at him, and Cyrus's hop would rather be a step inward with his left foot hooking behind James's right foot that slid. This helped in halting and inhibiting a good deal of James's momentum while even presenting the opportunity to trip him, and it even inhibited more if Cyrus could pin at that right spot above the Elbow or anywhere around it. The reason that would help was because there he could grab at the pressure point and pin the arm at such a distance where he could take advantage of his reach to give James one hell of a beat down without any retaliation. And even this initial punch was bound to hit since the arm was pinned around the neck so James couldn't dodge the punch with a head or body swing.

-Vintrict made spelling error and I have (or should say 'had' since I used a point) 4 MP, not 1, ask him for details, it was discussed over PM-

Even if by rule of God there was no way James couldn't move forward a few feet and have his arm and the fireball cover the rest of the way to hit Cyrus, (which was his intention) the man just jumped into it for him.

So he was probably knocked back or horrifically burned, which is about on-par for running into a wall of fire. In the rare case that Cyrus wasn't deterred at all by being burned, it wasn't like he could see James accurately behind the wall of flame. Things like that tend to be blinding.

But not for the fire-starter himself.

Superior reach, Cyrus might have, but the difference was of a few inches, and it wasn't a slugging match that Cyrus just hopped over seven feet into, where his superior reach might've actually been useful.

James simply brought up his left arm on the inside to parry out the right cross, the punch flying past the side of his head, and then he shoved his entire body forward behind his right side, easily slipping out of Cyrus's attempt to hook his feet and hold his arm in check, and slam his arm into Cyrus's midsection. The hook only stopped James from escaping, not moving forward, and there was simply too much force behind the shove to hold it in check with a simple grip on an arm.

Besides, James never ran away. CQC was his speciality.
