Lenore truly was beginning to lose patience with this human. Truly, she’d never encountered such difficulty before, and while she considered herself a persistent sort of character, this apple was dangling far too close to let it slip back out of her reach for perhaps a handful of weeks or even months. She’d become far too intoxicated and enticed to let this nightbird fly away even for the briefest of periods.

It was with this in mind that Lenore finally and suddenly came to the conclusion to charm the fool.

“Oh, I do insist,” she said warmly, not letting an ounce of her true agitation and frustration show through. Instead, she reached out a hand with seeming absence of thought and carefully caressed his side, attempting to let the small amount of physical contact carry the force of her charm. He probably only needed a little push. That wasn’t really cheating, was it? All she was honestly doing was hurrying on the inevitable. Besides, this was how nature had equipped her to hunt.

She drew small swirling patterns with her fingertips, sending just a little magic with it to relax whatever tension it was which prevented him from being more… pliable.

The lord of Chronopolis felt the magic that Lenore was putting on his person as she caressed his side. Her touch, even without the spell, did have a comfortable feeling. For the moment, he'd play along with the spell although the spell didn't really have much of an effect on him for obvious reasons.

Thomas turned to her, the same small smile as before on his face. The look in his blue eyes seemingly softened a little as he reached out with one hand to... gently pat her head and playfully ruffle her golden hair. "You have fine hair," he commented.

To entice her further, he lowered his back to the bed, keeping a hand on her head, dragging her closer to his chest. However, his feet were still planted on the ground next to the bed.

Pleased with the apparent progress that was being made, she thanked him for the compliment with a smile, “I aim to please.” She complied with his pull, completely thrilled with his sudden progress. She continued her gentle caressing, slowly moving downward from his side to his thigh.

Only encouraged by her apparent “success” with the charm, she poured more energy into her spell, not wanting to take any chances.

Pulling herself up a bit, she hovered her face just over his, spilling her hair in a golden curtain around them. Convinced that it would only be a moment more or expending energy before her charm was sufficiently firm, she used her free hand to smooth his cheek and run her fingers through his hair. She smiled and bit her lower lip as if considering something, and decided that she probably could lean forward to kiss him now. Which she did.

((Lol, I have a thing with kissing today, I guess. razz ))

Do you really? the lord mused in his thoughts when Lenore thanked him for the compliment and answered that she aimed to please. He didn’t say a word as she continued to massage him, the touches solid enough to reach his body hidden underneath his dress top and his black pants. He could also feel her pouring more energy into the spell as she worked her way down with her fingers. She had absolutely no idea that the way he was acting had nothing to do with the spell.

Perhaps, Thomas had enticed her too much at once.

The glowing demoness moved her face to his, and Thomas’s hand dropped down from her head so that his palm was on the back of her neck. The lady’s hair spread around them, seemingly forming a cage enclosing the two of their faces in a golden cage made of Lenore’s hair. He said nothing as she ran her fingers through his dark hair and slid her hand against his cheek. After a short moment of hesitation, she did something else.

She kissed him. On the lips.

Thomas did not welcome the kiss, and when Lenore finally finished, he spoke, the expression on his face completely stoic. “Confident, are you? I don’t recall giving you permission to do that.”

It had been a completely chaste kiss, dry, lip to lip. No extreme pressure, no tongue, just... a test. She didn't like her results. Not at all. Not only did he not respond at all in any fashion, when the brief lip-touch (she wouldn't call it a kiss, no no) had ended, he'd almost seemed upset. A comical, perplexed expression came across her face.

“I'm sorry? I... hadn't realized I needed to ask.” She was more than a little put off by his lack of response, but was more challenged than actually turned off. “Well,” she smiled slyly, “I suppose I might have needed your permission to do this?” She pulled herself up and proceeded to straddle him, one leg on either side of his hips. “Yes, I can see something like this might require your permission.”

Now she was just being persnickety. How dare he tell her no! She played with his hair more, but did not kiss him again. She also refused to move from her position on top of him and added another sort of charm to help him away from his inhibitions. He certainly was a strange character. If only she knew how much she was in over her head.

The lord remained expressionless as Lenore reacted in the way he perceived she would react as she stated she didn’t know she had to ask with that look on her face. However, she didn’t back off and instead straddled herself across his body, and the arm he had on her neck moved off her onto the bed. He could tell that she wasn’t happy as she retorted.

He spoke, choosing his words particularly, and letting her interpret his words in whatever way she chose to. “Lady Lenore, perhaps your charm could entice the leader of Zion…” A small smile alighted on his face as he slyly added, “That is, if you believe you can catch his eye in the first place as he is perched on that lofty throne of his.”

Thomas wasn’t planning on revealing himself or hinting at his background. However, there was a chance he would have to drop some hints depending on how Lenore acted.

She was truly losing patience with Thomas at an alarming rate. His constant chattering was quite a turn-off, and Lenore couldn't help but snap at him. “Oh, and what matter is he, sniveling on his little chair, making believe that any of us actually care what he says. He can go screw by himself.”

Completely put off, she snarled something extremely uncomplimentary in her native tongue, and pushed herself off of him to stand next to the bed. She almost wanted to storm from the room in a fit, but was a little too angry at him for that. No, he could pay for his insolence.

“You know,” she put her fists on her hips, with a furious expression. “something is dreadfully wrong with you.” Her stance and aura emanated threat—she was past trying to romance this stupid, egotistical human. “I think I might be able to fix that for you.” She licked her fangs, debating just how she would go about 'fixing' him.

((Hmm… I should have probably found a way to phrase Thomas’s words from that last post smoother. Oops. Oh, well. Sorry for the short post.))

The lady was losing it. It seemed her patience was wearing thin, if it hadn’t already disappeared. The small smile remained on Thomas’s face. Her comment about the king of Zion was amusing to say the least. “Hmmm…. And I suppose that is your reason for being in my city.”

The lady was losing her grace, but despite her changed demeanor, she still maintained some sort of charming grace that would have kept others off guard. She was off him now, at least, not the least bit happy. He remained on the bed unmoving and said nothing more in response to her threat, letting his previous statement stand.

“Oh, in your city? Your...” she was practically yelling, but paused suddenly as she gained sudden insight, and then finished more quietly, “city.” A delighted expression graced her features, softening her previous anger remarkably.

“Why, Lord Thomas, it truly is an honor.” An honor and a long-time fantasy come true; she'd had what basically amounted to a crush on the fellow ever since she'd seen from afar at a human festival. How had she not known before? She made a curtsying motion, but couldn't actually complete the action because of the extremely short length of her skirt.

Wandering back over to the bed, she wrapped herself around the bed post, looking down at him with a truly lovely smile. “I apologize for not paying my respects sooner. It seems that you're measurably more handsome in person—I did not recognize you!” She smiled playfully as though she'd never threatened to kill him and began tracing patterns on his legs again.

What luck! Who knew that the dear Lord Protector of Chronopolis was disposed to taking early morning strolls and frolicking about old “decrepit” towers? This did of course mean that she couldn't kill him, which slightly put her out, but it also opened entire worlds of possibilities. And he hadn't attempted to kill her after she'd essentially revealed her nature, in fact, he seemingly was knee-deep in Zion's s**t if Sharun was any measure to go by.

Suddenly she found that she had oceans of patience, and she asked coyly, “how might I be of service to you, Milord?”

The lady had caught his intentional slip of the possessive term. How quickly her snappy voice melted into a sweet flattering brown nosing voice and how drastically her face changed as she caught the meaning behind his words. Words were powerful tools to manipulate others. Actions were as well. Both could be done subtly to target certain types of people.

Thomas made no motion to acknowledge her poor half curtsy, which he knew the reason for. He did, however, sit up and did not meet her eyes as he spoke. He was watching her fingers trace patterns onto his legs. A small yet dark smile formed on his lips. “You’ve already shown what you intend your services to be, lady.” Did she really think that such a dramatic change in attitude would make him forget what she had done earlier? Lucky for her he was someone powerful enough that he didn’t even consider her close to a threat. That didn’t mean that there weren’t repercussions for what she did though. He was still entertaining the idea of using her as a messenger for Zion. “Or is it possible that there are other services which you have not spoken of, hmm?”

Honestly, yes, she did expect him to forget. He was a man, and she was without a doubt the most desirable tail he was ever going to get. He shouldn’t be thinking with his brain at all! By now, with all her flash, and charm, and magic, his brain ought to be mush and instinct should be taking over. By all rights, they should be rolling around on the bed where he sat so cold and calm. But she wasn’t to be discouraged again so easily.

“Why,” she smiled coyly, “that depends entirely on you, milord, and how… creative you can be.” She climbed onto the bed and knelt behind him, massaging his shoulders and back with practiced ease and unnatural strength. Leaning forward, she whispered in his ear, “I offer you anything you desire.” She withdrew for a moment, working intently on loosening his tight muscles, and knowing she was making frustratingly little progress. With perplexity she pondered what it might be that was causing him to create this barrier she was fighting to break down.

“Tell me,” she said conversationally after a minute of working in silence, puzzled and not passionate for the moment, “what is it that holds you back? I do not require anything beyond this night. No promises, no attachments, nothing beyond this moment. I should think such a thing would appeal to you, considering the politics of court.” Personally, she loved the intrigue and manipulating involved in politics—it was an art she was quite suited to, but she knew how many tired of it. “There’s nothing to be concerned about, milord,” she added, still at a loss and surprisingly honest. “Just… relax,” she grinned, a little bit of her enthusiasm returning, “and I’ll drive.”

((Hmm... this is harder than I thought. Thomas is hard to change. He's stubborn.))

"Anything?" the lord of Chronopolis commented in amusement when Lenore stressed the word in her sentence in her whisper. He took in the words she said and allowed her to massage his shoulders and back to her heart's desire. It did feel comfortable after a long day. Thomas hadn't slept for quite a few days, but being that he wasn't quite the typical human, it wasn't something that was out of the ordinary. While he always made sure not to, even he could exhaust himself.

Thomas could not answer her latter question easily. It was complicated, more complicated than he could let on. "Politics exactly," he answered slyly and choosing his words particularly. "Perhaps, this relationship could be a longer standing one." His interpretation of relationship was certainly not what Lenore had in mind. He added softly, "Relax I am, but it would be most unfortunate if I were too much so."

Still massaging, she bit her lower lip thoughtfully and interpreted his words incorrectly, as he doubtless expected. She didn't like the idea of a longer relationship than a one-night stand. That was why she detested incubuses--relations with them, while spirited, caused a plethora of long term problems. For Lord Thomas... no. She couldn't change her way of life even for him. Lenore lusted after many, never only just one.

Sighing, she told him, "no, Thomas. Neither you nor I wants a long term commitment here." The more she thought about it, the more she abhorred the idea of tying herself down to a recurring lover, even if it was just one among many. And he doubtless wouldn't survive her boredom for very long. It was lose-lose, going on about nebulous future encounters.

Figuring, however, that if she played on with his desire to meet again, she added, pretending to be thoughtful, "but perhaps. We shall have to see." Her hands moved to pluck at the fastenings on the front of his shirt. "Mayhaps you can... change my mind?" She kissed his neck playfully.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:21 pm

((Wow, that took me a while to think of something to write, and it’s still ambiguous in a way and short.))

As expected, Lenore had misinterpreted what he meant. The lord smiled mysteriously as he allowed her to continue massaging him. “A long term commitment could be beneficial for you, Lenore.” When she kissed his neck this time, Thomas didn’t comment and neither did he reprimand her. Surprisingly, he didn’t say anything when she began to play with the fastenings on the front of his shirt. Yet.

“Milady, you think too narrowly. There are many opportunities, potential for travel, and work in the shadows…” he said slyly. He put a hand on the fingers playing with the fastenings on his shirt. “… and many men.” He looked up at her. “And of course, much more.”

Finally grasping what Thomas was implying, Lenore paused with narrowed eyes boring into his. After a moments quiet consideration, she whispered sharply in his ear, “you, dear nightbird, are starting to sound like that pretentious p***k who presumes to command the legions of Zion.” She snorted in disgust and moved her hands out from under his to mess with her hair, muttering, “Must all men be so assuming, honestly?” Then, clearly addressing him again, “Don’t think you can manipulate me, my dear, especially when you’re trying to offer me something I already have. However,” her tone shifted dramatically from demeaning to pleasing as she caressed his cheek softly with one finger, “there is… something you have that I want. So perhaps we can predicate a business dealing?” Her hands began to wander down the front of his chest, caressing suggestively.
