I do believe Gary Mauer will be th Phantom...any one know much about him? The only thing I know is he was Raoul is past shows...but how well dows he sing?

Mauer is... baritone-y and yells a lot. But his acting is nice, especially the AIAOY Reprise.

(Sorry I'm being lazy with the Brad Little... I forgot to rip it last night when I had my CD drive hooked up. *getting to it*)

Ahem... You think I could get in on the Brad sharing? I was just talking to a friend about him (Who think she saw him around '97...) and we're both curious now...

Since I'm asking, it'd be only polite to offer that I have Gary Mauer singing MotN for those who were curious. PM me and I will happily share 3nodding

-cough- o_o; You're all going to hate me for this...

But... I've seen it five times on Broadway and I'm seeing it in February with the tour cast. o___o;;
My friend saw it six. Mostly because whenever she goes to the city with her mom and they don't know what to see, they see phantom.

I've seen the musical but not on Broadway. My dad was fortunate enough to see it there. I saw it at the Buell Theatre in Denver a few months ago.

One day, I'll see the musical! One day!

i saw mauer. but i dissagree with fox. i really don't think he yells... *can't wait untill i can see it on stage again*

Well, I've been told that he keeps toning it down and getting better as the show progresses. I think I just had the bad luck to catch him right near the beginning of his run when he was still getting into the role.
That whole cast was horrible to me, actually. It was the worst showing of POTO I've seen... Rebecca Pitcher is a great actress, but her voice is so shrill, and Tim Gleason has that grating American accent and vapid characterization. I hear the new tour cast is better. *wants to hear Marie Danvers*

I've heard that Rebecca Pitcher has improved since she was on tour, too.

Her I've seen four and a half times over almost as many years, and she's still shrill and shrieky. But, like I said, great actress. And at least she's not nearly as bad as Julie Hanson.

ETA: I have Brad Little goodness!

*snrk* I forgot he did that hissy-breathing thing in MOTN and PONR. All his Mr. McFeely songs with Christine he sounds like he's having problems breathing correctly.

"Mauer is... baritone-y and yells a lot. But his acting is nice, especially the AIAOY Reprise."

Well atleast I'll get to see it...

"His MotN is pretty good too in places, his soar especially is stronger than a lot of Phantoms. His fansite had a webchat with him and his wife recently and I lurked, he's a nice guy, quirky sense of humor.

I know it's unsure whether he'll go to Jacksonville (Stop after MI) but I hadn't heard if it was certain he'll be tour Phantom in April... Anyone know? I may be seeing the show in Kalamazoo as well. "

If he doesn't will anyone take his place? Errr, I'll have to see it in May then, and I didn't want to cuz thats a busy month for me.

MUAHAHA!! Me=Lives in NY and goes to see a show onb roadway annualy!
I saw it twice on broadway, me and my mother love it. I soaked up every scene and relive it in my head every day. Believe me, it gives you chills. Especialy when the chandelier rises, you see Carlotta, you see the phantom for the first time, the rooftop sce,e the chandelier crash, masquerade, basicaly every scene in it! Its a beautifully designed set, using amazing, beautiful curtains (Persian, i believe my behind-the-scenes book said).

DID YOU KNOW: Half off the people in 'Masquerade' are ppuppets 3nodding
PostPosted: Thu Feb 02, 2006 7:48 pm

I knew that, the Masquerade thing! ^^

Highlight. If you do, it may be a spoiler if you don't want to know.

They're all robots, that's the reason the actors/actresses have brisk movements in the beginning, to seem like robots and blend in with the puppets. When they'd brush against them, the robots would move, giving you this illusion of 'Wow ... what, are, are tehre really that many people up there?' I saw it in the special effects DVD on the 2004!Phantom. <33

I've seen it! *raises hand* It was my first ever musical and it was on Broadway too, in Majestic Theatre. <3 I'm from Oklahoma, and the Broadway tour neeeeeeever comes out here, so I was sooo excited to see it. o_____o!

I saw Howard McGillen and Sandra Joseph - I don't care what you all say, but McGillen was AMAZING. His act in the end, with Christine leaving and he was singing Masquerade, and then the 'Christine, I love you ...' ... Wow. Made me cry. Seriously. And just everything, wow, I loved him. *w*

I didn't like Gleason. His voice seemed to deep, too ... 'powerful-ish' for Raoul. I guess I liked the subtle, heroic voice of Wilson in the movie. He was on Broadway as well, in Oklahoma!, so it's proof he's a good enough singer to be on PotO Broadway. D: Sucks that he isn't, oh well.

I saw PoTO on stage when I was six. Mom used to play the music in the car and I really liked it so she took me to see it. I really don't remember it that much, thats why I want to see it again. I'll have to take my boyfriend with...he hasn't seen the play or any of the movies...poor thing.
