Syaoran-Puu Maion watched as Sonnet examined his wings and feathers as he spoke -impressive. Chandra on the other hand seemed more interested in listening to him talk, would that girl ever learn? Maybe it was just her way. He couldn't never wish for more than what she was. Her happiness was all that mattered.
Deciding it was safe to continue he did, "Right the simplest way to learn the shapes is to show you the shapes on my own wings. As you know Angeni's fly slightly different to other winged creatures because we have so many wings. This makes it harder to fly at first but with practise our powerful wings and unique shapes help to carry us higher than any other breed." He took a breath, watching both of his pupils. "Relax your wings so that the lower tips are pointing to the ground." He demonstrated. "Then add a little bit of tension so that you can feel the connection all the way from the tip of your wing." He demonstrated the tension, his wings kept a similar shape to when they where relaxed except they now showed a distinct muscle control. They would have to learn how this felt for their own wings -he couldn't teach that. "Remember how it feels, for that is how your wings need to be if you want to glide. It forces the air to flow faster over the wing than under the wing and so provides you with lift."
Syaoran-Puu Chandra listened and this time she tried to copy her father, it wasn't difficult to get the position on the ground but she knew it was much harder to remember during flight. "Got it" she chirped before watching Sonnet.

"How high can we fly?" Thinking he might as well ask now while he was working out the wing position. Looking carefully at Maions big wings. Clearly wishing for big wings like those when he grew up. Looking at his own wings to be sure that he has them in the right position, adding a little tension, taking a few trys before he feels the link all along his wings. "Got it... I think..." Looking from his wings to Maion, hoping he had it right, it feeling a little like there was a thin stick running from his body to the wing tip.

Syaoran-Puu With Sonnets question Maion dropped his wings to his sides as he answered, "We can fly to the tip of the worlds atmosphere, although I would not recommend staying their too long as the air is thin and you will become light headed. Their are mountains in this world that are higher than the clouds themselves, a lot of Angeni pick such places as their homes due to the tranquility and the fact that only other Angeni can reach them. I use to live in such a place." He looked to Chandra and smiled, "Before I met your mother." He added and gave her a little wink.
Syaoran-Puu Her mouth made an "O" shape. Chandra had never heard her father talk about his life before her mother before, and now that she thought about she never thought to ask. She knew how they met but that was as much as she knew about him. He had been an adult then, an entire lifetime of experiences before his life now. She would have to ask him about it, her curiousity suddenly peaked.
Syaoran-Puu Maion smiled at his daughter and his other student Sonnet before he continued his lesson. "Turning is simple enough. If you want to turn left you need to raise the wings on your right side and lower your left side at the same time, this will create a natural rush of air around you and turn you. For a right turn its just the opposite. Raise the left, lower the right." He demonstrated both moves as he spoke.

Sonnets head wings dropped a little with the talk of mothers and angeni living in far off high mountains. Wondering if thats where his mother was, and why she wasn't with his dad. Though he kept this to himself, it wasn't relevant and the only one that could really tell him anything was his dad, maybe he would ask him when he was a little older and could understand better. Distracting himself by trying out the manuvers Maion spoke of, lifting the wings on his right, lowering the ones on his left, finding that he wanted to lean left, walking in a small circle. Swapping the wings over as he compleats one rotation, turning to the right this time. "Lean...." murmering to himself as he stops, feeling the lean when he did that.

Syaoran-Puu Chandra copied her father and Sonnet in an effort to learn to turn. It seemed simple enough, she would just have to try and remember all her fathers tips for when she was in flight. She hoped that she would be able to fly - especially with Sonnet here, she really didn't want to be shown up or make a fool of herself in front of him, it was different with Io, she always felt second best around her yet with Sonnet they where strangely -equal?
As she looked at Sonnet she noticed a saddness... why was he sad? She knew how much he wanted to learn to fly, maybe it was something else?
Syaoran-Puu Maion smiled at them both, he always found watching them imitate his actions amuzing, not because it was funny but rather because they trusted him enough to copy him. How much more honor could he ever expect to have? "Good good." He said before taking a deep breath. "For now I think we will leave the wing shapes at that, when you can stay in the air for a while I will start to teach you the manovers and such." He smiled at them, not wanting them to fly without being able to land. "When you want to land you must relax your wings to a gliding position again and lean yourself forward so that you start to descend towards the ground once more, before you land bend your knees and as you hit the ground with your front hooves kick off slightly so that you bounce a little of the ground before landing softer. With practise no one will even notice that little movement." Trotting away from them he spread his might wings and took off into the air from the ground -not need a rock to help with his lift- he demonstrated gliding, turning left and right before finally landing in front of them with the softest of 'thuds'. "Now it is your turn... if you are ready?"

Sonnet watched, paying close attention, watching Maion, his sadness fading when the stallion took off, his eyes going wide. He went high, looking a little afraid, knowing he wasn't that good yet, he might fall. Looking over at Chan, wondering if she was feeling as nervous as him about trying these out. The wings on his head drooped with fear, not minding the height, it was the possible fall that had him afraid. Swallowing and looking back to Maion, nerve's clear all over the colt, not actually sure that he wasn't shaking a little at the thought of falling from that height.

Syaoran-Puu She watched her father, suddenly envious of how easy it made it look and from practise she knew how hard it really was. She pouted a little and her eyes lowered to the ground before she heard something strange from the direction of Sonnet. Without thinking she lifted her head, tilting it slight as she looked at him. He seemed to be just as nervous as she was. Taking a deep breath she looked up at her father, small tears beginning to form at the corners of her eyes. "But...but what if I crash? I don't want to get hurt Daddy." It was getting harder and harder with each passing moment to control the flow of tears that threatened to spill over at any moment. -------------- Syaoran-Puu Maion was a little take aback by both their reactions, he could still remember his own fear when he first jump off the cliff from his mountain home into the Ocean, if he hadn't been force to learn to fly he would have just fell into the Ocean and most likely have died. Yet he knew he could not remove their fear, that would come with their own achievements. Not wanting to treat his daughter differently to her friend during the lesson he spoke a little harsher than he would have if they had been alone. "Chandra. Sometimes you need to fall down in order to learn. Remember the saying 'we learn from our mistakes' well that is true here." He was going to leave it there but felt that it made him look extremely cold and so he added. "Plus... I am large enough to help soften your fall if I see you losing control. So focus on the task. I know you can do it." He looked to Sonnet, "Both of you!" ----------------- Syaoran-Puu Chandra ears lowered with her fathers words and one word came to mind -meanie. He never usually spoke to her like that and it angered her, she wanted to show him she could do it, that she wouldn't crash just to prove she didn't need to crash to learn. If only it was that simple. Deciding that he simply meant the best she looked at Sonnet before speaking, "Ready?" If her father was right about being able to catch her if she fell that would make her a little less scared when she was ready to try.

Sonnet looked back over at her, not liking to see his friend cry. Nodding back to Chan, offering a smile, he was in if she was. "Ready!" Spreading his wings to show just how ready, though he wasn't sure if they were going to try flying at the same time or one after the other as they had been. Moving over to her and giving her cheeks a soft nuzzle to wipe away her tears. Smiling at her "Want me to go first or you?" Letting her pick, thinking that it was better to have more room that way if they did crash.

Syaoran-Puu "Please." She said as she allowed him to wipe away some of her tears. How pathetic she was to cry over such a silly thing -and worst of all it was in front of her friend. How that thought made her want to cry more.....
She offered Sonnet a little smile but it was hard. She suddenly didn't feel like swimming. ----------------- Syaoran-Puu Maion cringed a little inside as Sonnet comforted his daughter but said or showed none of it. He knew he would just have to get used to it, plus it did seem he was only trying to be her friend rather than a typical boy.... With Chandras reply to Sonnet Maion looked at him and said one word. "Go."

Sonnet gave Chan a wink and whispered in her ear. "When you cry it makes me sad." Stepping back with the word go he gave a little jump and started flapping his wings as hard as he could, going higher than he usually would, dropping a moment before flapping harder, trying not to look down. Trying to adjust his wings to glide, dropping again, not managing to get the right shape, flapping again, having dropped a fair bit, needing to climb up again. Trying again to get his wings into the gliding shape, dropping again. "Ahh!" Flapping again in time to cushion his crash landing.

Syaoran-Puu Chandra blushed a little with his words as she went to say something back but all that happened was her mouth made an 'o' shape and silence. His warm breath still lingered on her cheek making her feel strange inside, it was a feeling she really didn't understand. Was something wrong with her?
Deciding to think about it before bed so that she was alone with her thoughts she turned her attention to Sonnet so that she could watch him. At first he seemed to be doing really well but every now and then he would faulter until.... Oh no! Chandra heart leapt into her chest, instinctively she went to move to save him only to find her father had beaten her to it. ---------------------- Syaoran-Puu "Better" Maion said as he watched Sonnet, he was ready to move in an instant in case the colt needed him to cushion his fall - a broken wing or ankle would take a long time to heal and would likely knock his confidence, something that wouldn't help him learning to fly. Then as Sonnet lost his balance on his last glide Maion jumped forward, spreading his soft large wings in order to provide something soft for the colt to land on. Just before his hooves touched the ground once more he felt the sudden weight of Sonnet, he exhaled sharply but made no comment as he curved his wings up a little in order to prevent the colt from falling to the ground. "Are you ok?" He asked out of concern. He had reacted out of instinct so fast that he hadn't noticed Chandra try to move to Sonnets aid.

Sonnet nods and grins. "Your softer than what I usually land on." Looking round finding it weird to be sprawled up high. "Thanks for catching me... but how do I get down?" Having not moved as he didn't want to hurt or do any harm to Maion or his wings. Peering down at Chan from up here, getting an idea of how small they looked to Maion. "Wow, your huge..." Resisting the urge to poke his head through Maions wings to get a good look at the ground. Wondering if Chan got to ride like this often.

Syaoran-Puu With Sonnets comment Maion couldn't help but laugh, he supposed he was large especially to two young foals. Lowering himself gracefully to the ground, trying to keep his back as still as possible to so not to throw Sonnet off, he tucked his wings as far out of the way as he could so that the colt could get onto the ground safely. ----------------- Syaoran-Puu Chandra's eyes were wide in respect as she watched her fathers fluid movements, oh how she wished she was that graceful. She knew that Angeni's where meant to be like that but something told her she would never manage it. At least no time soon. She could only hope that her father wasn't disappointed in her. Skipping over to where Sonnet would likely land off Maion's back she smiled and wiggled her tail to show how pleased she was that he was safe.

Sonnet grinned as Maion laughed, wiggling off his back, being careful of his wings, also not wanting to put his hooves on his back and make him messy, ending up rolling off the last part. Laughing as she gets to his feet, grinning at Chan his little head wings wiggling, having been excited with the flying once he had not splatted into the ground. Doing a little turn to show her he was totally fine. "Dun be scared, your dads really soft to land on." Blushing a little thinking that Maion might not enjoy being landed on, though Sonnet had no idea how heavy he was.

Syaoran-Puu As Sonnet left him he lifted himself up, just as Elijah wiggled from his mane to sort his feathers out. He would thank his old friend later, she really did look after him, especially since she kept his hair mainly tangle free and her feathers smooth and ready for flight.
Turning to look at Chandra he waited for their little conversation to reach a pause before adding: "It's your turn Chandra." He then gave her a little wink, "I will catch you if you fall." ---------------------- Syaoran-Puu Chandra wiggled a little at him, a big grin upon her face. "Glad you're ok", though her smile soon faded as her father informed her it was her turn. She gulped a little before deciding she could do this. She didn't want to relay on her father to catch her, didn't want to do it wrong. She could do this! Couldn't she?
"Wish me luck...." she said before turning and trotting away from them both. Reaching a collection of rocks she picked on that would help her get enough lift with her jump and climbed up it. Looking around she slowly spread out her wings, each feather wiggling with the soft breeze. Slowly she began to count down for her attempt. Three..... her wings where spread and ready. Two.... her legs where ready to move with the jump that she had committed to memory. One.... she pushed off from the rock face into the air. Flapping her wings as fast as she could in an effort to cause herself to gain height. To her surpise it worked, and in her moment of disbelief she forget her wings and began to plummet to the ground. Remembering what she was supposed to do she flapped her wings as fast as she could to gain more height again before changing the shape of her wings like she had been told. First she turned left. Easy enough. Next she turned right. Also fairly easy although her muscles didn't seem to like that direction as much as left. Now to decend....
....pointing her wings down she started to flow towards the ground, it was going fairly smoothly. But suddenly she couldn't remember what she was suppose to do. She bent her knees remembering that much, yet as she went to hit the ground her mind went blank and causing her to land on her knees scrapping them slightly. ---------------- Syaoran-Puu Maion watched proudly as his daughter followed his instructions, so much so he had not predicted she would crash until it was too late. He cursed under his breath as he rushed to her side.
