Miles, now nearing his room, heard the phone ring. He turned to the source of the disturbance. Micky had begun to follow another girl before a boy ran into them. Miles smiled to himself as they began to chat. I leave just when more people show up. And it looks like they're somewhat stable, given the fact that their conversation doesn't consist of inane shrieks. Miles took out a book from his bag and began to read. After a few minutes, he got bored and tried to sleep again. I guess I'll talk to them later. Or tomorrow. Damn, what time is it? Miles rummaged through his bag, looking for his watch. Oh, now I remember. I forgot it at home. Daaaaamn. I'll just sleep until I wake up, and completely ruin my sleep cycle. Fun.

Keep me awake
Before she could get a reply from the girl, she got bumped. It was a bit hard, but nothing to hard to fall from. Though that could be her reflexes when being caught off guard. Her body turned to the boy and she smiled. "It's ok. Nothing broken." Starr replied to the boy's sorry. He looked sad about it because he was constantly looking at the ground.
Her eyes studied him for a long moment before speaking again. It was just that he looked so distrot over something. "You ok?"
When she heard her full name being called by one of the announcement speakers in the hall, she looked oddly at it. Then it clicked that she had no room number and did not get a chance to talk with a nurse yet. She really did not need to see a nurse, but it was for the best. She hated being like a dog-- listening to someone's orders, but if she wanted out, she'd best be on her best behavior.
She whilred her head to the two of them. "I have to go. See you around." she stated before going in the opposite direction. She gave another boy a small wave as she went pass him to go to the office.
Several minutes later, she found herself lost like a little puppy caught in the rain. There were too many hallways and they all looked exactly the same! Did these people ever think to put direction signs up? No. A sigh came from her lips. There was a sign here and there, but it was too worn out to make out. Yep, this place was definitely cheap.
 I never want to go back to sleep again...

(aw man and I was hoping we'd have enough funds for a councilor)
Micky looked up briefly at the girl walking ahead of her. Why was she slowing? Micky cringed as she felt her fingers tense in temptation. Her inward thoughts of doubt disappeared as the girl spoke to her, she looked up again in an attempt to make eye contact but before she could speak an older boy bumped into her. She felt her shoulders twitch, why did they always want to fight?Star Holland was the girls name, she hoped to remember it. She turned shyly to the boy and smiled, what she thought was a smile, it was a glare. "Are you okay?" she asked the boy wondering if he'd hurt himself walking into the girl

Derek's lips twitched into a half-smile. "I guess I'm about as ok as one can be in a mental institution." He slowly brushed himself off and glanced at the younger girl. Standing just behind her, Selena smiled sweetly and disappeared. Derek swallowed and looked back down, not sure what he should do now.

Micky gazed at the boy confused, he didn't have any deformity, nor any sort of mental block, he even had decent humour. Why was he here? He looked behind her and she glanced nervously afraid she's broken some sort of rule. She too had no idea how to continue, then her question resurfaced, "Why are you here?"

Derek looked at the girl, a little shocked. Honestly though, he couldn't blame her. His nurse even told him that over-looking a few minor things, he seemed normal. Derek focused back on the girl and said in a quiet voice what he had been saying to doctors for three months now, "My sister died, but she's still here. She makes me do things... she's scared and she wants me with her. I was on drugs for a while to try and get rid of the pain, but Selena didn't give up on me. The doctors keep saying that I'm a danger to myself by being suicidal and schizophrenic." Derek shrugged and looked akwardly back down at the floor.

Mickys mind passed right over the ghost issue. She didn't believe in them at all but was not going to try to tell him that, there was somethings the mind could not figure out. She took the drugs the most seriously, in school there had been a few days where they went over all the side effects and she'd even seen a few TV shows about them. The way she saw it, when you were on drugs the worst of you came out. She shook her head, this wasn't very good at all...but she couldn't help him. She had no sympathy for one that heard things. She knew all the thoughts in her head were her own sinful cruelty. "Did your sister get you into drugs?"

Derek was instantly defensive. "No! Of course not!" He stared at the girl in anger. Selena suddenly put her hand on his shoulder. Derek, she doesn't believe in ghosts. She doesn't think that I'm here. Don't be so defensive. It'll all be over soon. Derek shook his head to clear it as Selena leaned on his shoulder. "The drugs were my idea," he said quietly. "The suicide is our idea." He thought back to the many failed attempts. Someone would always come in at the last second. It seemed as if they were cursed to be apart. Selena gently touched the corners of Derek's eyes as if to keep him from crying. Derek swallowed and glanced at Selena, a half smile forming.

Micky bit her lip slightly as she realized she'd hurt him. She didn't want to affect anybody negatively. She watched as he smiled to the air. He really does think someone is there... "..." She wanted desperately to tell him no sister would want her brother to live this way, now would she want him hurt. That was why she suspected his sister had gotten him into drugs. People tried to kill each other over drugs, sharing them with someone you loved was nothing. "What's she like?"

Derek smiled at the girl, his eyes glazing a little as he thought back. "She's nice. She's always been there for me... especially after our parents died. No matter where we went after that, we were inseperable. And we still are." He laughed once and Selena hugged him lightly, smiling a little. She still thinks I got you into drugs. "Selena's always has this innocent air around her. Gentle and just so pure...." Careful, Derek. It sounds as if you're describing a long lost lover.... Selena ruffled up his hair affectionately and Derek shrugged at the girl."What can I say? She was my twin."

Micky smiled, it sounded as if he really did love his sister. Then her brows knitted together in thought, "What happened to her?" She was unaware that he was at this very moment being coached by Selena, nor did she care. The person she was intending to talk to was...Who was she talking to? She'd have to remember to ask him his name later, if she forgot she could always get a nurse to tell her. She laughed at that thought. There was no way she could bring herself to deliberatly go up to someone and ask information like that. He was talking...She reminded herself to listen when someone answered her.

Derek's eyes grew dark. Selena rubbed his shoulder and whispered, It's ok. You can tell her. The more that know our story, the better. Derek nodded slowly and started huskily, "We were kidnapped by three sickos that all had a thing for kids. They did things to us... and made us do things to each other.... They beat us and tortured us just for the fun of it. They didn't even call our foster parents for a ransom." Derek took a shaky breath and shook his head, trying not to see the images. "They kept telling us that they would return us home after thirty-six hours. They took us to an alley about a mile from our house and slit our throats. Selena was so weak and injured that she was beyond saving. For some reason, the doctors decided to save me." Derek closed his eyes and shook his head again as Selena lightly kissed his cheek. Shhh... It's ok... You're ok....

Micky didn't know how to react, so she made sure she didn't say anything stupid by biting her knuckle. Hard. After a second the pain was enough to force her to let go. I could end up like one of those sickos...Micky had never heard of anyone feeling the same way she did, they all seemed to have reasons that drove them...and normally she was pretty good at figuring out the reason. Her lip twitched into a scowl as she figured they were sadists. "I'm glad you are here...Well...glad they saved you" Being here was not such a good thing, hopefully they would keep him safe because Micky's frustration with herself and his story made her want to force it to disappear. There was only one way she knew how to do that and she refused.
(sorry I've got an essay due midweek so I am not going to let myself on gaia till I've handed it in)

Derek half smiled at the girl. "Yeah, the doctors expiramenting on me are happy I'm here too." At that, seeing that nothing else could be said, he walked quickly back to his room. Selena appeared again, just before he opened the door. Heads up. You have a new roomate. Try not to scare this one off too, ok? Derek sighed and nodded, opening the door. At the end of the bed, he saw the new name tag. "Miles," he muttered, glancing at the sleeping guy. He seems... ok.... Derek rolled his eyes at Selena. "He's sleeping. How can you tell anything about him?" Selena smiled and ruffled Derek's hair again. Call it a girl's intuition.

Micky looked around, she'd been abandoned. Nothing to do here...she hoped it wasn't a bad idea to send herself here. Micky studied the signs that were placed around, they were all old and hard to read...She decided to learn the set up of this place so she could go anywhere without having a panic attack...She hated those, any sort of uncertainty or fear of being late and she couldn't breathe right, or wanted to disappear...but she couldn't disappear or she wouldn't get to where she needed to be. Looking around was a good idea.
