Linkg sistergoldenhair miturn Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! scream My 'rents are freaking out and not letting me dress goth because they think I need to be more "light" instead of "dark"!! It's making me seriously very freaking mad becuase I feel as if I'm not expressing myself and I hate that....... They keep saying that I don't know what I'm doing or this is gonna make your life miserable or this will separate you from god and all that crap!!!!!! My family thinks it's all satanic and stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What should I do???? Hmmm..... I don't know how put this sort of thing to your parents gently, but... here's what I did when I was your age. I wasn't even goth, btw, I just wore a lot of black and watched a lot of horror movies. My mom told me one day that the horror flicks were making her "worry about my soul" or something (she still holds this opinion) I told her that maybe I should be more like and be 17 and have already had three abortions.
Of course, it helped that there actually was a local preppy girl who was 17 and had already had three abortions, and my mother knew that.
As a teacher, if it makes you feel better, I'll tell you that love my little goth kids, and not just because they remind me of my teenage years. They're usually smart, and kind and very thoughtful.....which is more than I can say for a lot of my white-t-shirt crowd.your a teacher? *nods slowly... I haven't found my first full time job yet, but I am trained as one...and you can't change your nature. lol Right now I work at a youth shelter and I'm about to start work at a call center (my poverty but not my will consents). Last year I substitute taught all year, but I can't make it on $50 a day.

My parents didn't like it much either when I started dressing goth, but they kind of got over the shock after a little while, but they still didn't like it much. A while later they noticed my personality hadn't changed, or if anything, I got better. They really enjoyed my new friends that were into the same style as me and were really on fire for Christ and they really were a lot better that the friends I had before I got into the goth style. So showing them that I'm the same person that I was before and stuff really helped them accept the this style. And, just a suggestion, there are a lot of clothes you can find that are goth styled and have Christian messages on them. Your parents might like that a little better. Good luck! ^^

*~*~*I'll close my eyes...I used to wear all black. But being goth isn't about what you wear really. It's about other things (see the site that was stated earlier). My parents used to hate it. I wear whatever now (it helps that I'm in college now though).
My main problem is my mother right now. Anytime even the world goth comes into a conversation - she just gets this disgusted look on her face. Which gives me more and more reason not to bring up the fact that I myself am goth.
At one point in time I tried to approach it a little bit (a few days ago actually). I explained to her that goths are simply people who appreciate dark stuff - i used the explanation from www.christiangoth.com. She still had this disgusted look on her face.
My sister knows that I'm goth. My friends know that I am goth. My boyfriend knows that I am goth. They are all okay with it. But, my parents don't know. And the main reason is because of my mother (who is sorta the head of the house even though she isn't the money maker). I know she wont hate me...but i don't want to hear her go on about my faith slipping and it being satanic. *sigh*
Overall parents are a touchy subject when it come to being goth (unless your lucky and your parents understand or are goth themselves) ...and let the whole thing pass me by.*~*~*

And just like SaiBlackNight said my parents don't know I'm like that (although they are pretty suspiccious and they think really bad about goths.) Well, you should tlk to your parents about this in a calm manner and explain to them that you just feel more comfortable wearing what you wear and being what you are. And if that fails!....Well...just pray to the Lord that you hope they will eventually understand XD There's nothing impossible for him!

idk, but my mom allows me to do it as long as i don't act satanic in anyway, so try making a deal to your parents, that might help. If not, well you tried.

I have a conflict with my parents about fashion as well.
I'm a gothic lolita. Go google if if you don't know it... ^_^;;
Ignoring the title, the style does not have anything to do with child molestors or the book. Seriously. xd
But it took a long time before my mother stopped thinking I was bluffing...

I know it is not about that, and I think that style is cute. Hey? what's wrong with girls looking like cute girls??? That' why many of my girl friends that like that style refer to it as 'cyber goth'.
