Closer damnit. He missed, he slid to a stop doubling around again, trying to trick the rabbit, confuse it. Make it think he was following then go the other way to head it off.
Maybe if he hid behind a tree and just thwacked it when it came too close. But he'd have to disappear behind a tree first... He frowned.

Azzo heard the raven after missing again. He looked up at the raven. "What do you suggest I use!?" He shouted as he rounded again aiming to bash it in the head.
"Because I'm all ears! If you have a carrot up there with you please, tell me. Save us both the trouble."

Azzo's blow stunned the rabbit, letting it be picked up -- the rabbit had, in deed, thought that Azzo would be going the other way, and it lay still on the ground so that he could grab at it. Eos still slumbered a little way away by the tree, though...
... were its roots moving?
The rabbit was slowly coming to. It was making pitiful noises.

Azzo watched the rabbit fall lifeless. He frowned looking at him. Now, he looked and watched the tree... was it's roots moving. "NO NO NO NO!" He cried and ran over with the rabbit in one arm and tried to grab Eos out of it's way.
"You can't have her." He said looking at the rabbit. He was screwed either way. The rabbit was cradled in one arm. He was in the way of the tree's roots, or so he hoped.
"You can't have her." He said again looking at the tree sternly. "She's a... a... She saves people." He looked at the rabbit, in his arm, was he having second thoughts?
Rubbing Mitten's head softly where he'd bashed it. He paused, "What good am I if I'm like the Negaverse and kill you to save her... but I can't save her without giving something..."
"Oh for heavens sakes what do I do!?" He said in a whining tone as he looked at the rabbit, it'd be easy to snap it's neck give it to the tree, put it on the pillow, make sure it slept and let the tree have it, save Eos and himself.
It'd be just as easy to give himself, save both the rabbit and her. He looked torn, he'd just went through all that to have second thoughts. What a rat, what a rotten situation.... Why did Eos have to grab that stupid pillow!? He rubbed his face with his free hand.
Glancing up to the raven. "What do I do..." He whimpered. Still keeping himself in between the tree and the senshi. He couldn't hold both her and the rabbit...

"You could take the rabbit instead," suggested the raven, who for all intents and purposes had gotten bored long ago. The roots were shifting, underneath the carpet of emerald-coloured grass. Eos slumbered on. "I'd rather eat a rabbit than a girl. There's more meat on the girl, but it doesn't taste as good. Have you ever eaten another human being, Azzo?"
The ground was shifting underneath his feet.

Azzo tried to stomp the ground. He looked at the rabbit and sighed. "I'm sorry" He muttered and gave a quick yank hoping it'd kill the rabbit.
He paused, had he ever eaten another human? Lord he'd hoped not. "Not that I'm aware of." He answered, in truth though, it was probably better he didn't remember had had eaten a humanoid, youma.
He walked Mr. Mittens over to the tree, hoping the neck had satisfyingly snapped. Laying the rabbit just outside the fairy ring. "Take this, the rabbit, leave my friend be." He murmured, he was probably just as bad as the negaverse.
He shuddered at the thought. Turning his back so he didn't have to see, he quickly returned to Eos to make sure the tree didn't take her too, hoping she would wake up. He looked at the bird, whom was indeed probably as bored as Azzo felt bad for what he'd just done. Eye for an Eye.
"Now then." He said straightening up and cleaning off his hands. He shouldn't like to do that again, he'd chide Eos about it later. He crossed his arms. "How do we get away from this... death trap... and out of this forest?" He said wondering if this was starting to be some sick and twisted little game. He was keeping an eye on Eos, he'd push the rabbit aside in his mind till later, he could handle it later.

Something had become detached in Azzo's hand. The tree was moving, shifting -- the ground underneath him became unstable as tree roots broke through the blanket and started to drag the rabbit down. All he could do was drag Eos away -- the pillows dissolved underneath the grass too, as though they'd never been -- and watch as Mr. Mittens was absorbed underneath a thin rug of grass. The roots subsided. The hump that had been Mr. Mittens had things working briskly underneath where he could see the outline but not the act.
The thing that had become detached was the tail. A rabbit's tail.
"Good," said the raven. "You found a compass."
Were Eos' eyelids fluttering awake?
"That tail will point you in the direction you should go," said the raven. The fluffy part really was turning north. "That's a good compass -- you should have gotten one in the first place. Well, I'm off. Good luck with the center of the Elflands forest. Try not to look at anything until you're there."
The forest stretched out in front of them -- pretty, picture-perfect, sunshining and lovely. Snatches of music were heard in corners, and birds every colour of the rainbow twittered in the trees. No rabbits, though, not any more.
[Sailor Eos and Azzo have gained a compass to the center of the forest. Your reward is being able to follow it without interference -- for now! You can start following the tail and commence RP, and you'll all be informed when you've reached the 'center'. Remember that you can't meet up with anyone else until Stage One commences. Good job!]
