Soul chuckles in his low, quiet way and Frenzy's high-strung, prideful spirit makes him feel almost the same giddy, fluttery feeling of excitement he'd felt as a colt when he'd been chasing baby crocodiles and had run into a very angry mother. Except this feeling seems sweeter, not tinged in fear, but with some of the same adrenaline.

"Mn.. then we are both in good company. I don't mind flattery when it's true though, giving or receiving. You are a lovely doe-- and not just on the outside, either. I like your spirit."

She huffs out a laugh, tossing her head and giving him a sideways, almost coy look. "Good company indeed. But you know, words are cheap. Action, on the other hand--" She nips the tip of his tail and bolts, inviting him to chase her, her snake sliding off from around her neck and slithering out of the way.

Soul is laughing when it suddenly cuts off in a hiss of surprise at her slight n** of his tail and the flash of gray as she dives into the trees and low shrubs. This time when he laughs it's full out, but he wastes no time in giving chase, one leaping bound to gain some ground before he bounds after her. Tall grasses and small trees whip against him, but it doesn't really hurt. He can see her ahead of him, and his heart pounds with the sense of the chase.

"You're not getting away so easily!" He shouts after her, laughter in his voice, even if it doesn't follow the words.

She laughs as she darts rapidly through the roots, nimble as a dragonfly and twice as quick. It's a different kind of thrill for her than the usual rush of blood and focus and hunger -- this thrill is playful, full of love of life and laughter. Certainly out of the ordinary for her, but no less thrilling for that.

After a time, she slows; she's a sprinter, not a distance runner, and her stamina burns out quickly.

Soul is in good shape, and he often enjoys simply running through the Cypress and mangrove of the Swamp for no reason other than that he might have gotten the urge to do so. When Frenzy begins to slow, he rapidly catches up to her and laughs as he brushes his body, full-length contact, against hers in a playful manner. It's enough to make them stagger a bit, but not fall, as they come to a stop.

He's panting a little, but he's grinning when he moves forward to butt his head against her side a little. Teasing, flirting, and still full of the energy of the chase. "Caught you."

The brush of his side against hers makes her stumble, the first ungraceful movement she's made in years, but she can't find the energy to be angry. She stops, laughing, headbutting him in the side in return. "So you did. What prize would the winner like?"

Chuckling softly as the butting is lightly returned, he turns to knock his horns lightly against hers just as he hears her question. He pauses, blood rushing like fire to his face at the thought the question brings to mind and his half-nuzzle pauses midway. "Uh.... um.."

The look on his face makes her laugh, tossing her head back, tail lashing once. "Well, don't just look at me like that," she scolds, nudging his neck with her nose. "That's hardly a fitting prize, you've done that this whole time."

"I..." he pauses, and clears his throat with a faint cough. It surprises him to be so suddenly caught off guard, steady as he usually is, not much tends to surprise him. Still, he should have known better with the fiery doe, and as he regains at least some of his composure and wrestles his blush back down, he nods. "I'd like.... to spend these weeks traveling with you to the coast. To spend time with you and... and get to know you."

"I was planning on that anyways," she sniffs, with an airy flick of one ear. "Well, I'll let you pick something better later. It'd better be worth the ache in my legs." Another headbutt, and she starts walking at a more sedate pace, as if nothing had happened.

Nights he was used to spend alone were spent in company as the few weeks of their travel progressed, and with it each hour and every minute bringing them closer to his swirling, intense dreams of the Ocean. The gray doe beside him had started to show a telling bulge over the days, though she still walks easily enough, now. He knows that is none other than his own doing, and he feels a measure of protectiveness for the doe, even if it's absurd. A part of him knows that he will leave, fevered by the anxious desire that always overcame him to follow his dreams. He has no doubt that he will have no dreams, and that the desire to follow them will be stronger than staying at the doe's side. Still, seeing the very evidence of his offspring sets to him a small pain as he know they will be forced to part ways.

As the smell of salt tickles his senses, and the deep, damp, earth smelling fodder under their hooves turns thinner and takes on a drier stance, laced with fine sand, he knows they have made it. The beach is a mere few moments away, little more, probably than a few hours.

"It seems we have nearly made it."

Of course it was his doing; they hadn't encountered any other kimeti on their trek south. The closer they get to the coast, the heavier she feels, and when they are finally close, she huffs out a breath.

"Indeed we have. If our paths cross again, I will remember you kindly." She nudges his cheek, then turns and heads in another direction, surprisingly quick for the new weight she's carrying.

There's another task for her to take care of before she finds the coastal kimeti -- procuring a blessing for her young. She has no plans to coddle them after their birth, but until then, she will do the best she can to care for them, and to give them as much strength as possible.

Soul Drift is surprised and yet not surprised at her brief and quick parting. True, he had grown fond of the doe but then they had spent a few weeks together. If anything, he knows he will remember her as well.

"As will I." He smiles, nuzzling her back, and watches as she leaves, before he turns the other way and heads to the coast. There is still the matter of reaching the beach-- his dreams demand it of him. Nothing can stop that need, not even his brief friendship with the ferocious, gray-coated Frenzy.
