Well...I find them VERY useful...When I was little and playing Banjo Kazooie, I wouldn't have known, HEY, lets go through the giant key to get a jigsaw piece! otherwise.

But the thing is, you don't get to play the game for yourself if you just attack to the guide. I think you have a better experience if you only use the guides when you're absolutely stuck.

^every single guide to every single game...

But personally I think guides take away a games whole purpose of fun and adventure away from the gamer.

lies! that doesn't have every single guide to every single game crying

but yeah, I think it depends if you want a strategy guide or not. If your a completion freak, then yeah, a strategy guide could be helpful. When I order Zelda bundles that include strategy guide, I play the game one round with the strategy guide, and then after I beat it my own way, I play the game again using a strategy guide and see what differences it make, did I make it harder for myself, or did I find a way easier, and ect ect.

I don't really see the point, most of the time you can find everything on Gamefaqs, or other sites like it. ::shrugs:: Although if it just came out its a good idea to get it because many people haven't made a decent faq for it. Well unless its like the FF9 strat guide >.< That was a complete pile. Oh well what can ya do besides attack square when they pull stupid stunts like that

What's the point in buying a strategy guide when you can find them for just as good, if not better, for free online? It seems like a waste of money to me.
And if people are so fixated on art, they should buy official art books by the artist. I assure you, the images are more often than not, higher quality and much more numerous. They even include original designs and what not. That seems to be something more worth my money than a strategy guide with perdy picatures.

I buy guides for the art. I refuse to use them to progress through the game.. I don't think you're a gamer if you use strategy guides personally.

I buy strategy guides mostly for the art, but I'm also a completion freak so I sort of need it to find the stuff I would normally miss. When it comes to just playing a game only to beat it then the guides are kind of a waste of money since you can get the info off the web.

It depends on the game really and even then, I search the net for the info I need and unless it's for the whole game, I'll probably just look at it while in the bookstore. 3nodding

I almost never use strategy guides. ._.
Well...back when I was playing Xenosaga I....

Anyways.
It makes me feel like a ninny for not being able to beat the game on my own. And besides that, my brother makes fun of me when I do.
I usually only look at strategy guides if I want to find secret areas. And if I'm going to do THAT, I go online. Save the trees! And my money. ^_^
And my computer's in the same room as the TV, so it's never really an issue.

I'd like to know if they're really worth paying the money for them. Couldn't you just get the game info you need for free on the Internet or am I just missing something here?
I buy them for fanart reasons to help me draw the chars.

the guides are good when you get caught somewhere or for secret rooms and what not...but ive solemnly made a vow to myself not to buy them unless for artwork...personally i think it makes it seem like, myself as a girl player can't make it through the game without help...i am not saying that its just girls, guys too...one of my girl friends will not buy the game without the guide and it seems to be a weakness for her...*shrugs* but thats just my opinion on the matter...then again im usually really stubborn and like to figure things out on my own with no help...>w<

Honestly, the only stat guide I have ever actually gotten, was one that came free with Magna Carta-Tears of Blood. And I actually looked more at the artwork like everyone else, then the actual strat guide of it. So usually its just the artwork I get, and more often then not you can go to places like RPGfan.com and get the same artwork, so the strat guide itself becomes worthless even for artwork. Maybe some people just need a strat guide to be able to understand certain aspects about a game? ::shrugs:: I don't really know myself.

To me, if the guide has information or art that is worth it, I will buy it. If I need cheat codes or anything like that, I memorize it or look it up on the Internet. Nuff said.

I don't know anymore, really. I used to buy strategy guides, but I don't really do that anymore, seeing as there are guides on the internet already.

No. You're better off finding the stragedy guide online. Such as gamefaqs.com or any other one that has been listed as of yet. Besides all the game guides I DID buy were either typoed or were missing information.
