inu_fan77777 what I hate is If your a girl and you kiss your gf like a peck or a little more than a peck not making out and if your a guy and you kiss your bf they say oh don't do that in public don't do that in-front of my kids or the kids and yet straight couples make out shove each other in walls and group each other that's so true... and it's like when girls dance together, it's cute and like hanging out.. but when guys do it, people are like ew wtf. and same goes for linking arms or whatsoever. people just have to realize this.

There is something gays need to come to terms with. Americans are terrified of sexuality. That's right, not homosexuality, but sexuality as a whole. People don't just stand away from gays, but from all kinds of preconceived sexual deviants.
Whores are a curious part of the society we live in. Whores are women who are easy to get into bed. Something us straight men like, and enjoy. However they are not viewed in a positive light at all. The disdain comes from the sexual nature of their life. No one wants to marry a whore becuase she is so sexual.
Gays have portrayed them selves as overly sexual by means of parades, and the media took that fire and fed it fuel. Thus American's are distrusting of the apparent whore, then you have a compounding factor. Religion turns that distrust into an outright rejection. Christianity is a religion that has stated that homosexuality is a sin. This makes it hard for most Americans to be accepting of homosexuality.
Honestly a devout Christian should be trying to help the gays as they are saving sinners.

concrete egg haha. they're just weird. which makes us normal? i don't think so. i know plenty of ppl who are bi and all that jazz and i know a lot of straights who don't mind at all.

Zenophobia is part of biology, we instictively and animistically shun what is not like us. Children beat each other up and call each other names with out any help from parents. Some people just never grow up from being children, thats all. They never learn self control or realize that they don't have to be slaves to prehistoric mentalities like " Us versus Them".

Seriously though, picking on gays is currently the fad. Before us it was women. Before that it was black people, Jews, etc.
People like to put other types of people down because it makes them feel better.

Let me set something straight here. The bible says that only God can pass judgement. People shouldn't be judging other people because it's God's job to do that after you die. Even then it's not about homosexuality. It's whether you're a good person or a bad person. So even if you're gay but you're nice and honest an d follow the 10 commandments you'll go to Heaven

Society is too squeamish to accept gays right away. People have been taught that a men can only fall in love with women for centuries. It'll take a while to undo all that.
Then there's the whole bible thing, but that's the result of misinterpretation and several mistranslations.
Such as the stories of god destroying cities because of their homosexual citizens. (apparently a mistranslation; really being the citizens' unwelcoming behavior to outsiders)
If that's all true, then why isn't it happening now?
I live near San Diego, and it's supposedly a great place for gay people (it's true). It's still there.

Liberty Belle The issue really isn't just because they are "uptight" or "insecure", the main issue is that according to historic Christian teaching, homosexual sex is considered wrong. That is quite simply the fact of the matter. Before it was a Christian precept it was a Jewish precept - and laid out directly in the bible... at least by some translations. That's the problem. During a more conservative era the bible was translated to read in such a way that it says to men having sex is an abomination. Now whether or not you personally think that's what it says or means (I personally do not believe that is an accurate translation) that fact remains that current Christians are taught to see the bible as the inspired word of God and often meant to be read literally. So rather than accusing all people who do not see homosexuality as a natural condition, consider how they were raised and what their personal religion teaches and have a little patience teaching then that what they know may not be the truth of the matter. I don't believe there's any reason to post after reading this. had all my points in it.

My guess is that people fear what they don't understand and that fear often turns to hate. Some people hate anyone who is different from them (from disabilities to different religions, etc...) and they don't understand why or what their life is like, etc...phobe just comes the word phobia which means fear.
Other people that were always told that it is wrong when they were growing up and and they end up believing it (I used to be told that when I was little). They fear that they would be punished or go to hell if they don't follow or they go against what is they are told as they were told it was a sin, just like they were told sex before marriage is a sin, etc....So a lot probably has to do what people are taught or said by others when they are young.
The stories in the bible I believe were went to be fables or lessons, but not facts or taken word for word as law or truth (especially since translations vary). I think people took the bible the wrong way because of it being mistranslated and often take it literally.
This just from what I noticed, so I can't really speak for everyone. There are probably many reasons why people are a homophobe.
