What was this thing doing to him? Onisim groaned as he laid atop the piece of wood, his head lolling to the side. Why couldn't this just end? Why did he have to go through all of this? Wouldn't it just be easier just leaving him to die here?
Who was this needless Samaritan anyways?

Cassius drug him over a small hump, huffing with the effort and cursing himself over and over again for not training more. This shouldn't be as hard as it was.
"I hope she's.....not causing too much...trouble out there. Ssstupid mother." When he was stressed or under pressure, his lisp would kick in.

Onisim really couldn't feel anything anymore. It was odd. Just before, he had felt that, but now...he felt oddly at peace. He could grasp that this thing was dragging him somewhere, but felt no discomfort. Was he finally dead?
Though, he froze as he heard something. Something odd. Hissing? Where did he hear hissing before? The cervitaur couldn't piece it together for he was too far gone to think clearly.

At that moment of physical exertion, it became clear to Cassius. The one who had done this, the one who had hurt this cervitaur so badly....."Mother." He hissed with a curse. How could he not have known? At this very moment she could be watching them, waiting for the best chance to strike.
"I am ssso sssorry," He said louder. "What happened to you....it's not my fault. I don't know if you can hear me, but I'm sso, ssso sssorry."

Whatever the thing carrying him was saying, Onisim really didn't care anymore. His breathing was still shallow, the blood soaking through the cloak.
Though the sound of this hissing. This hissing was still nagging at him. Where did he last hear it?

It felt like ages since Cassius had begun the process of getting this cervitaur out of the swamp. When he saw solid ground, he could have cried. The naga picked up his pace, practically slining Oni along before he flopped them both onto 'dry' land.
He panted, laboring to get a breath as he sprawled out. Slowly, he turned back to see his ward. At this point, he didn't know if he was dragging a dead body around or not.
And where would he take him? The male had never said a place, maybe because he wasn't able to, so until then he figured on Tree Haven. Cassius may not be accepted, but at least the male would be treated.
Resolutely set, Cassius grasped the board once more and started dragging.

Drifting in and out of consciousness, Onisim could barely register where this creature was taking him. Though it was less humid and more cooler now. Though thinking was near impossible to the cervitaur. Though he could only barely think to himself, how he managed to survive for so long.
Was there something above that wanted him to survive? Did it want him to be reunited with his parents again?

Cassius couldn't tell where he was going. He just kept dragging and dragging until his limbs were numb. The little village was just off a ways now, but he didn't know who lived there or if they were prepared to help. Either way, at least the cervi could die warm.
He huffed, running a hand through his hair as he pushed Oni towards a field. Then he bent to check his bandages. "You know, it'sss a miracle. You being alive and all. Your a real fighter."

Onisim continued to moan, wondering how long this journey would take. Where was he now? He opened his eyes, but saw nothing. He just saw darkness and blurs. The thing was speaking again, but he still could not understand.
A small elderly cattauress looked up suddenly, her ears twitching as she heard rather loud rustling through the woods. Leaving the small basket of herbs on the ground, she stood up cautiously, slowly and silently making her way towards the source of the sound.

His heart broke. Ever so gently, Cassius unwrapped the bloodied bandages, careful of the places that stuck, and tore off a new strip from his cloak. If only he could turn back time, then he would erase Darcy from it. If it meant that he and his brother would never exist, so be it. At least real families could sleep safely without fear.
Cassius swiveled up, rising slightly to look at the approacher. He squinted to get a good look, and could have cried with relief. "Here! Over here, please, we need help! He's injured."

He felt the bandages come off his arm, being replaced with new ones. Onisim was too weak to squirm, his breathing getting more and more shallow.
The cattauress' expression turned from curiosity to worry. Injured? That wouldn't do. Picking up large stick from the ground, walking as fast as her old legs could take her, she lit the tip on fire so she could get a better look.
She was finally able to rush to Cassius' side, looking down at Onisim shocked to see the state the cervitaur was in. "Oh dear..."

Cassius exhaled deeply, though he still shook with his urgency to make the cervitaur well. "I'm not for certain, but I suspect my mother did this. She's a demon; it fits her. I-I'm just not...I don't know what else to do."

Onisim heard another voice, much softer and quieter than the other one. What was happening? Was he getting help?
She merely stared at the Naga, her eyes filled with sorrow for the Cassius. "I understand..." she said, handing him the torch so she could get a closer look. Crouching down to look at Onisim, she clicked her tongue, "Poor boy...he's still breathing that's for sure." She stood up, facing Cassius, "If you could...drag him to my house? I'll tend to him there. Though..." she glanced at him, "...I'm not sure if its worth all the trouble."

Cassius brushed back the sides of his cloak and held the torch over Onisim. He had to choke back a gasp. If at all possible, the male looked worse than he ever could have imagined.
"Dont' say that." He said sharply, passing the torch back off to her so that he could grasp the board again. "Don't say that. He's going to be fine."

"How can you be so sure?" she asked as she tightened the makeshift bandage on him.
"We can't waste any time." she said firmly. She tried her best to straighten the cervitaur lying on the board as she held the her hand out to take the torch. "I'll lead the way to my home, if you could drag him along...?
