he swallowed hard and let her words calm him. His legs shivering slightly from the change in water temperature.
"Just lake weed? Alright, just some plants. Right, alright. Goodness..." he mumbled to himself as he turned and looked around him with still slightly panicked eyes.
He looked up at her and nodded, "I wonder why that is. The water's coldness I mean." He looked up into the sky, observing the sun. he decided it was because the water was deeper; there was more to penetrate with rays of sun light and more to heat. His thought was broken though when he heard his watery friend's proposition. "S-Swim?" he asked hesitantly, "Me? Are you sure Ami? I-I don't know how! Errm," her cleared his throat, "How do you swim?" he gave an awkward smile.

"Well," Ami said, "To swim, you have to lift all of your legs at once and paddle... Maybe just start with your front legs?" She lifted her own out of the water, paddling alternately between her left and right legs. "You do it like this," she said, smiling. "Can you replicate that?"
She hadn't bothered to answer his other questions - his glance at the sun was enough for her to know that he'd answer his question about the cold water. As for his questions of uncertainty, she knew he would be able to learn, even if it took awhile, and figured he didn't need much encouragement... But, still - "I'm sure you can learn how to do this."

Ceros made sure to pay the closest attention to the movement she was trying to tech him. He took in and memorized her muscles' flex and her legs' angles. The way they dipped into the water rather than splashing and he finally took a breath not realizing he was holding in his previous. He replayed it in his head - it didn't look hard. A hope sparked in him and he let it grow as he planed how he was going to 'swim'. He smiled brilliantly, eyes glowing almost and began the strange dance in the water. He managed it! He had moved a bit and he had stayed afloat! "Was that right Ami?"

Ami let out a giggle and splashed a little water toward Ceros. "Perfect!" she said, "now, can you include your back legs?" She wouldn't be able to show him this part, since she didn't have any herself. Tilting her head sideways a little, she took a sideways glance down into the water. They weren't too far from the place where the land under the water dropped off abruptly... She'd have to be very careful with how far in Ceros went...

Ceros waited momentarily for a demonstration of that which Ami was suggesting until he sheepishly realized that was physically impossible for her. He blushed a bit and felt silly, then simply imagined how his back legs would need to work in order to preform the same task his front were doing. Once his plan was in place, he attempted it, feeling a bit of a tug on his stomach when he began using all his legs; not having much to touch ground with if he did start to drift down a bit. He had a bit of trouble with the initial need to keep ones body positioned properly so that his rear didn't float down, but then he caught it and another victorious smile stretched on his face.

Amitola smiled with Ceros as she saw that he'd gotten it. "Awesome!" she exclaimed, "Do you think you're ready to go into deeper water?" The ledge was right close by, and if he wanted to, he could try going over it... But she was a little wary. If his newly acquired swimming skills suddenly gave out, she'd have no way to catch him in the water. She'd be better off leading him back around to where the ledge leveled out into the rest of the lake bed to form a gradual slant rather than a straight drop down.

He looked into the depths to which she had motioned and he attempted to assess them. They looked like quite the drop and did not feel confident with such a change. "Perhaps something more gradual?" Surprised to find little of the fearful tone that had always plagued him when ever it came to water. He smiled, Ami was working wonders.

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking... I want to be extra careful," she said, turning around a bit. "The ledge smooths out over there." Nodding toward the right, Ami begin to swim slowly in that direction. "If you want to go over there, you can swim or walk; it stays about this shallow." As she smiled encouragement, she mentally grinned - all she could think was Yay!
