"Naw, I got it." Hayden shook his head, keeping his eyes locked on his laces while he finished putting them back on. He then slowly tied his shoes, since it was still a bit of an ordeal for him before he hopped up and brushed himself off. "Okay, Imma be the cap'n, and you can be my first mate." Hayden nodded and then turned to trot off to the playground. "Y'gotta hurry up!" He called back over his shoulder expectantly.

Ask blinked in surprise at Hayden dashing off but was quick to follow. He didn't want to be left behind. "What's first mates do Hayden?" he queried as he caught up to him.

"Ya do what I say!" Hayden announced as he climbed up one of the play structures. "MAN THE SAILS!" He cried, pointing at one of the center poles and then dashing off to the highest point of the play structure. "The sea police is after us!" He turned around to stare down at Ask to make sure that the younger child was doing as he'd been told to do. They couldn't very well escape the sea police with the sails down, now could they?

Ask quickly started manning those sails. Clearly Hayden had an idea of what was going on and until he was let in on the exact picture that was in Hayden's mind he was going to do whatever he was told. "Aye Aye Capt'n!" That sounded good, that's what he'd seen the pirates do in the movie Peter Pan.

Satisfied that Ask was doing what he'd been told to do, Hayden looked back out over the top of his own spot on the playground. Well, running from the sea police wasn't good enough, no, they'd easily escape... He grinned, an idea coming to mind. "There's a sea monster ahead!" He ran back down to Ask. "We gotta get th'weapons so we can kill it! Tie off the sails!" He grinned, and then ran off again to find some sticks big enough to be called "swords."
He returned a moment later and then held out one of the two he'd found to Ask. "Here's yer sword, we gotta chop it's tentacles off! It's a giant squid!"

Ask would rather have a spear, but he supposed a sword would have to do. He "tied" off the "sail" and quickly followed his Captain into the fray. He didn't know how many tentacles a giant squid had, but he was sure he got at least fifty of them.

After taking care of at least fifty of his own tentacles, Hayden stopped mid swing as an electronic beeping erupted from his pocket. "PAUSE!" He announced and then dug the crappy little cellphone Asu had given him out. Asu, being the not-always-attentive mother she was, had given him a cheap phone to keep track of him whenever he ran off.
"Hello? I'm playin' at the park with Ask. I know you don't know Ask. I just met'im. But we're in th'middle of killin' a giant squid! No it can't wait 'til later." Hayden frowned, moving side to side as he shifted his weight from leg to leg.
"FIIIINE, be home soon." He frowned and then pushed the red hang up button. "Mom says I gotta come home. But we can play again later, 'kay?" He started to put his phone away, but paused. "Heyyyy, we can trade phone numbers 'n then we can call for a playdate." A grin spread over his face.

Ask froze in mid sword swipe when Hayden called for a pause. When he realized Hayden was on the phone Ask decided to stop his awkward one foot in the air pose and stand properly. Upon being asked for his phone number he said, "I don't have a phone. But Shiny does we can go give it to her and she'll set play dates up for us."
Ask was happy to have made another friend. And he wanted to play another time too! Shiny would be thrilled that he was making new friends.

"Oh, 'kay, lets go get it then." Hayden tossed his stick to the ground, off the edge of the play area. He then crawled down the ladder and hopped off onto the bark that was laid out around everything.
He waited for Ask to get down before he sought out Shiny, as soon as he spotted her he trotted on over, holding his phone out. "I gotta go home but put yer number in here so we can play again 'kay?" He grinned widely, but the expression on his face said that if she didn't do it the pleasant smile would disappear in an instant.

Shiny smiled back. "Sure Hayden, I'd love to set you up to play with Ask again." She took the phone and programmed their home phone number into it under "Ask" with the little home icon and handed it back.
Ask grinned and sat on the bench beside her. "Bye Hayden! Thanks for playing with me! See you soon!"
