That was a bust. Tara racked her brain for ways to get more information out of him, but nothing occurred to her. When he announced his intention to leave, she was dismayed. If she didn't keep it going, or at least get contact information, she'd never be able to complete her study of this unusual person.
"I have to admit, your mental prowess impresses me." Every good coercion started out with flattery, Tara knew that much. "While I know that we haven't become friends, as you put it- though my opinion is another matter entirely- would it be possible to leave that door open for another time? I'd like to pick up this conversation another time, if you're receptive to that possibility."
Digging in her pockets, she pulled out an old receipt and a purple crayon she'd kept from a class project. That would do nicely. She hurriedly scribbled down her e-mail address, hoping he wouldn't walk away while she did. She would never forgive herself if she let this one get away.

Howl smiled politely and remained in place, catching drift of what she was trying to do. "I do keep a rather busy schedule, but if that is what you would like, I would not mind meeting up with you again, Miss Tara."
There had been a shift in the girl's choice of vocabulary once again, but the observation remained a silent one. He also noted that she was using a purple crayon. This led him to believe that the quality of the writing would probably be atrocious at best. Crayons were way too thick to look nice, even when writing in the nicest of script.
He waited for her to finish up before mentioning "Would an email address be sufficient, Miss Tara?" When he searched his own pockets, he was rewarded with small post-it note sized papers.

"I would like that a lot," Tara said firmly, scrawling her email address onto the scrap of paper. It was legible- barely- which meant that it would do. "I find you interesting, you know." Now that she knew her study would be able to continue, she found herself slipping back into simpler speech. "I'd like to get to know you better- if you don't mind, that is."
She folded the receipt up, printed side out, and handed it over. "I hope you can read it. Sorry, I didn't bring anything better with me today. Didn't think I'd be needing it. Now I guess I know better."
Why Tara was so interested was something even she wasn't sure about. Her guess was that she still had doubts about his origin. But really, it was that he was so foreign, so alien in a totally human way, that he was still unknown while being known. Howl Wickham was another puzzle to solve, and Tara never stopped trying until she found the answers she was looking for.

He glanced over the writing, and found it absolutely monstrous. Seeing as she had the only writing utensil amongst the two of them, he held out his hand and made the polite request of "If I may?"
Once he had the crayon in hand, he wrote out his own email address in a much fancier fashion than was normally expected of a male. He handed the crayon and small slip to her, and with that, he offered his departing words.
"I bid you adieu, Miss Tara." He offered a small polite nod of the head, and then with a smile, he turned and began to walk. His feet would lead him out of the nursery and his fingers would tuck the new email address in his pocket.
That had most certainly been an interesting encounter, to say the least.
