x Lobsel Vith

PostPosted: Sun Dec 26, 2010 11:28 pm

Vith seemed to falter for a moment, tormented with his need to be free of whatever was holding him captive, yet unable to push through as his brother had. The smell of blood was a comfort, warmth flooding him and soothing the ache as soon as he caught hold of Jule's arm and wrapped the length of his tongue around the wound, ripping it open further.

With his newly freed mind he had the sense that he had messed up gravely. He shouldn't have left his brother there, yet he didn't dare go back into the ring of power emanating around Jule like an electric fence. He didn't want to slip back into that cage. He knew who had really set him free; Pyrate. The smell of his blood sent back waves of memories. He was stunned for a moment, watching his past flit past like small movies in front of his eyes, but he had to push such things back for now. He wouldn't be useless when he was needed. He had to get Jakob out of there.

All he could think to do for now was stand his ground, hoping Pyrate had a plan of some sort, like he always used to. There was no way to arrange his thoughts right now and so he went on instinct; protect Pyrate, stay out of Jule's power, get Vith away.

Pyrate continued to step forward, keeping a hand back to gesture for Rose and Hugo to stay. He reached with his other hand, brushing the muscle of Barra's forearm before he stopped just beside him.

"You can't keep him held for very long with that... He's more powerful than you are, and you're treating him like some sort of mediocre corpse... Let him free and we'll spare your life long enough for you to run." he made the offer, though the look on his bloodied face seemed doubtful of that sort of promise.

Jule did not allow another wince - instead, he ground his teeth, tilting his arm to allow the gaping cut be torn open further. Fresh blood dribbled in thick trails down his arm, splattering the sidewalk and still glistening wetly. “Stay,” he continued to hiss between his teeth, the surge of power around him invisible save for the flutter of his battered coat, “Stay.”

The wizard stepped back, Vith’s tongue still delved into his ruined flesh; his eyes narrowed as Pyrate offered a chance at a possibly safe escape. He had spent years attempting to tame the beasts, working on and off for weeks on perfecting old dark magic to bind them - did the blind ******** honestly think he’d so easily abandon all hope of keeping at least one?

He disappeared with a faint, joyless pop, Vith vanishing with him.

Xuchilbarra stood helpless, knowing he could do nothing to sway his brother away. He was too deep in the blood now for anything else to make sense. The Red God reached out a hand as if to just grab Vith somehow, pull him away, but then they both had disappeared. He blinked, confused, tossing his helmet this way in that in attempts to see where they might have gone, but knowing that effort too to be futile.

He breathed deep the smell of Pyrate's blood, turning to face his now remembered lover. He dropped to one knee, unable to handle the confusion of it all. Relief, anger, helplessness, sadness. Memories of how they all were before any of this, together constantly, and the brief pain-filled flash of his own death. It had been dark for a long while, but now he felt the light again, felt alive.

He could feel the dirt under his knee, the dried crusty blood covering his skin, the faint cool breeze. Pyrate was here now. They would get Jakob back, together.

An odd noise escaped his throat, something close to a choked whimper at the sudden loss of Vith. He'd just had them both, the trio finally reunited, but now it was gone. That odd trinity of power lost before it could be completed.

He tilted his head down as if to look at Barra and reached out until his fingers skimmed the sharp edge of his helmet. "We'll get him back. I swear to you we will..."

Rose exhaled unsteadily, visibly floundering between standing still and going to Pyrate. “Well, we’re halfway there,” she muttered faintly.

Barra stood up and moved in closer to Pyrate, mindful of his helmet. He was much taller so by just tilting his head up slightly he was sure not to hit him or anything. He learned that quickly enough. He let Pyrate's power edge over him like warm water, cleansing and mingling with his own. He gripped Pyrate's shoulders, holding them tightly for a moment to communicate his agreement. They would get Vith back.

He released his grip, tilting his head to look at the children, curious.

Hugo dragged air in through his nostrils, his own expression as uncomfortable as Rose’s, a flicker of pain beneath the frown. The subtle mating of Pyrate and Barra’s power crackled like particularly nasty static electricity along his skin, raising the light fuzz on his arms as he rubbed at his elbow. “So, what now? Do you still feel the… other one? Can we track it?”

"I can't feel Him anymore... Jakob is on his own for now... It would be pointless to continue wandering the city with you today... We'll go home...get more information on the necromancer attempting to keep him." he held back a sigh and carded his fingers through his hair, uncaring that some strands had gotten stick with the blood clinging to his cheeks.

"I'll need to speak with Hermione...tell her all of it. Hopefully, it'll help our cause more than hurt it.."

“You want to tell MUM?” Rose squawked indignantly, her expression rapidly swept up in a panic. “You want to tell Mum Hugo and I snuck you out and wandered MORBUS for an entire day, faced off with some necromancer, and came home with a - a - what do we call it, a zombie? An Inferi?” she drifted off, visibly uncertain, and glanced at the creature in question. “Is it - is it looking at us?”

Barra tilted his head this way and that in order to see them both more clearly, looking almost comical, like a giant deranged bird. He didn't know exactly what would be a proper greeting given his current appearance. Shaking hands would definitely not work.

He figured just pushing his power down so it was only a low hum against his own skin was the best it would get. He inhaled, tasting the children's scent, but found nothing to his liking there. Which was fortunate for them because that would mean a much more up close encounter. A lot of what he did was instinct; he wasn't really one to respect personal space or understand most social cues. He had always been that way.

" stressed HE. For Merlin's sake, would you both stop acting like idiots. They're neither undead or living. And they are not some meager thing that can be controlled, nor some horrific guard dog. They're sentient beings.." he snapped, scowling darkly in the direction of Rose's voice.

"I'll explain when we return home. Neither of you will be in trouble, so stop your needless panic."

Hugo stepped back, uncomfortable with the further inspection by Barra. s**t, why did he have to be sensitive to things like this? Rose hadn't so much as flinched from the changing levels of power in the air.

“Right, fine, okay,” Rose responded waspishly, but relented when she glanced at Pyrate directly, settling for mild nervousness. “Do you want to hold my hand so we can go? Can… he… I mean, will I be able to take him too?”
