It had been a while since the blue kittyman had gone outside. He had been sick for months, so close to death and forced to stay inside for weeks on end. All because some Beorc b*****d didn't wash his hands when he served the food back at that Host party during the winter. And dammit, it was a b***h to get over.

Fortunately, he was all better now and took this chance to take in some much deserved sun. Perhaps today he would swing over to the North Gate and explore that side of town to see what was new. Hood donned to hide his ears, Sunil ventured outside.

The light! It was so bright! IT BURNS! The poor kitty had to shield his eyes for a few minutes for his vision to adjust. During the time it took for his eyes to adjust to the light, he took in the smells. Oooh, it seemed like someone was making delicious cakes nearby. Perhaps he would swing over there first and grab a dessert and some milk to wash it down.

Tibarn's eyes narrowed instantaneously to slits, and slowly, calmly, he put his daughter down, then patted her head. "Why don't you go on back to the living room to stop Mommy from slaughtering our guest?" he said, sending her off with a little pat on the back.

As soon as Vaherianslyeri was out of the room, the heel of Tibarn's palm struck the back of Skrimir's head with enough force to send him nose-first into what remained of his soup. "I'm going to assume you know why you deserved that, and I'm going to take you out to show you around before I introduce you to my beorc wife. Because she's got ears like a wolf and would probably carve you up if she saw you right now," he added grimly.

Fortunately, the kitchen was connected to the foyer, so passing through the living room, where he could hear Vaherianslyeri being as adorable as she could to soothe her mother's notorious temper, was unnecessary. With a scoundrel like the King of Hawks for a father, she found herself doing that quite a lot. He opened the door and stepped out, gesturing to Skrimir to follow. "Look," he sighed as he walked down the hall with his old... friend. Acquaintance? Peer? Peer was a good word. "I probably should have warned you about Vah earlier. We get, you know, very few laguz who show up and know what it means. Here," he added, turning right and down a wide, sweeping staircase into the front hall. "Ayra and I met several years ago in the middle of a crisis here. Big battle, we were both jailed together, long story short, Vah was born, and we got married. Now, I fully expected to lose my Hawk form." He pushed aside the screen netting hung in the wide open doors to keep mosquitoes out of the castle. "Apparently, the rules are different here. Look around, Skirmir," he said, gesturing as they walked through the center of the street. Despite his resignation, Tibarn was still a bit of a celebrity and regarded as an imposing figure; people tended to stay out of his way in the street. "Mostly beorc here, the odd laguz. Eyris is run by a guild full of people like you and me-- people who showed up here from other worlds and have no way home. I'll introduce you to Rath, our Captain, later. Point is... this place... it isn't Tellius, Skrimir. You can't treat it like it is. Beorc here don't hate laguz, for the most part. I mean, they did at first, but they don't have that nasty history to back it up. They were just confused. They're getting used to us, now." The North Gate loomed ahead of the two of them, and Tibarn stopped to look up at it.

"Heh. When I showed up... in this world, I mean. I stepped into the door of a house and walked out of the window on that tower. Fell like thirty feet before I got my senses together and opened my wings."

Edward woke up and yawned. The sun stretched into the room giving it a slight glow. He washed up and grabbed his gear.

"Thank you sir!' Edward put a tip on the counter of the innkeeper and left. He stretched and took a deep breath. Ugh... I'm running low on money again... Mercenary jobs were not paying well this month and Edward needed funds for living expenses. Edward continued to walk towards the North Gate, he had heard that there was someone trying to find mercenaries to deal with monsters or something and he was interested in finding out about these... "monsters." Momentarily lost in though he bumped into a slightly taller man with a hood and fell down. "Ow..."

User ImageAs soon as her morning shift at the local hostess cafe was over, Aruna quickly cleaned the sugar off her body. In all honesty she didn't enjoy the taste of sweets, let alone like the feeling of frosting and syrup coat her skin and scales after an unfortunate accident caused by a clumsy customer tipping her tray of desserts and breakfasts right onto the nagini. She held her tongue and gave him a shy smile as she tried to wipe the food off.

Later in her room as she ran a warm, damp cloth along her tanned skin, the snake woman glanced at the various glass bottles and vials sitting on her vanity. Most of them were empty while the rest were perhaps half full. "It has been a while since I last made an elixir," she muttered. "Last time was with Master Solomon." Aruna shuddered as she said that name. She wanted to forget that part of past. Still looking at those potion containers made her think of the lives she saved in the desert: that young soldier girl and her lover, Ganon. Maybe she should pick up some of her previous herbal hobbies.

Slithering to a bag she kept in the far corner of her bedroom, Aruna dug her hand around determining how much materials were in usable condition. Sadly most of her herbs had withered away and easily crumbled to dust the second she touched them. High quality healing concoctions required fresh plant life and the female naga didn't trust the shops in Eyris. She let out a sigh as she realized she had to go hunting for new ingredients. Aruna changed out of her uniform and into her usual black and gold outfit laced with pearls. At the last second she grabbed the half full bottles then stuffed them inside a side pouch. They would be used as reference in case she couldn't remember which herbs she needed.

Finally Aruna left the Hostess Club traveling towards the city's northern gate.

Lyre finished dumping a load of plates into the washtub for someone else to deal with, stretching her arms out above her head. She was restless, now being done with her shift... she untied today's elaborate apron- she had become quite skilled with designing and creating numerous aprons and uniforms to shuffle around her work week- and folded it neatly into her bag. She covered herself with her cloak after wrapping up a scone, with the intention of bringing it back home for her sister. Shouldering her bag and slipping out the door, she caught a quick glimpse of her coworker Aruna heading out as well- she would have waved if she had been going her direction, but she was heading out elsewhere and had her back turned already.

The cat laguz made her way back to the home that she shared with her twin- they were the closest they could get to being outside the city, without being outside of the city itself. Neither one of them really enjoyed a bustling city, but Lyre at least had no desire to be outside of the protection that it provided them. Lethe was a brilliant warrior, but Lyre would always feel inadequate in comparison, despite how hard she tried. And besides that, Lyre was here first, so she had chosen the house...

As it was, their home had all of the comforts they needed- which was rather scarce compared to beorc homes, with the exception of Lyre's growing collection of garments. She left the wrapped scone in its nice little bag on the table, and absently went to change into her more usual garb. Perhaps she would go take a run... she felt stiff today, and like she needed air. She stretched again, leaving the house to start out on a walk towards the town border. Once she hit open plain, she'd dart off into the woods for a bit, perhaps...

She sniffed the air, the hair on the back of her neck rising and her ears twitching beneath the fabric of her hood. Huh... why was she getting a feeling of... Gallia? An odd sensation, but she shrugged it off and went to go stick her nose into the business of some people that seemed to be crowding up the North Gate.

Hm? Something seemed to bump into him. Looking down, Sunil noticed a Beorc man had run into him. Clearly the brat wasn't paying attention at all in where he was going. But he held his tongue, since the man had a weapon with him. Last thing he wanted was to get cut for mouthing off some bloke. Oh, and just in case, he checked his money bag with the hand that was hidden in his cloak. Okay, still there. So maybe this guy wasn't a thief.

He extended a hand to Edward to help him up, his face hidden due to the hood. Once the man was back on his feet, the kitty man continued on his walk towards the northern part of town.

After a few steps, he paused. There were quite a number of familiar smells in that direction. Laguz, certainly. He could recognize Lyre's scent, having spoken to her briefly at the Host Party. Wasn't that the Hawk King's scent too? And...a recent one he hadn't smelt in quite some time, not since he left Gallia.

"Can it be...?" the beast Laguz murmured before he quickened his pace a little.

I shall now demonstrate the law of Sacae...
all our tribesman banding together against our invaders!

~)Sue(~

User ImageAlthough she hadn't have moved out yet, Rath was already expressing how proud he was of Sue. Maybe it was the fact that she took the assignment she was given with such ease. Maybe it was because she'd grown ever the more stronger since the first time she entered Learania, and fought against Madriana's morphs. Then again, it was probably a mixture of those, and the fact that she was indeed Rath's only child. Sue had to work hard and finish this assignment fast so she could grant her father's wish of a swift and safe return. The nomad trooper would not fail her mission. She couldn't.

"I'll send out a message to whomever is able to gather at the North Gate, then... and then I'll be off. I wish you luck in keeping Learania in order, Captain." Sue gave her father a single nod, before the nomad went to her residence in the castle to ready her inventory. An elixir bottle, the short bow, silver sword, plenty of arrows, and a good month's worth of food rations were all stored in various places either on the pouches of her steed, Andre, or inside the proper quivers or sheaths. Long story short, everything was where it should be, and a nomad was about to lead a charge that would hopefully clear the name of Learania. Getting atop the horse, she went towards the northern gate.

There were quite the interesting group of people that had gathered after Sue sent the message out that they were departing for Adliana. The crew member, Tibarn, who had always come to the guild's aid in their time of need was here, along with a new lion laguz face that Sue had yet to get familiar with. Lyre and Aruna Sue recognized from the Hostess club, but there was yet another unfamiliar laguz, a blue cat by the looks of it. It was good to have this amount of followers, and Sue was certain that many more would show up and follow her lead. "Listen, everyone! I was given news from our Captain that Adliana was attacked, and Learania was put to blame for this! We must meet with Chieftain Songhua and prove our country's innocence! We might meet hostility on the way, so please be very careful. We go forward... to keep our ties with Adliana strong!" Sue said the message clearly, raising her short bow to get a little cheer from the small gathering crowd. Then, it was time to go, just as quickly as they came.

Without looking back and noticing if anyone else would join the already gathering large group of people, Sue set off for the border city of Leera. According to the intel the nomad got, this is where Songhua would be waiting. She wondered if the rather laid-back chieftain would keep that nature about him, with such grim news broken to him. "Of course he'll still be the same. He's got the sense to question the situation rather than acting rashly, so Songhua must still trust the Learanians." Hopefully that was the case, Sue thought as she rode her horse in almost complete silence until they arrived at the city gates of Leera. After announcing who she was to the tribesmen guarding the gate, Sue and her companions went right inside. Soon, they would all be in a meeting that would change the course of history and fate.

~Ninian~

Ninian opened her pack for a third time, double checking to make sure she had everything inside it she might need, elixirs, bandages, emergency food rations. Wearing her standard clothing, the two rings still in her possession securely placed on two fingers, she tied the pack shut before securing it around her waist. Hovering around her frame was Briseschal, the magic scarf given to her after the death of its previous owner, the dancer Teifi. Finally as prepared as she could possibly be, Ninian paused to look at herself in the mirror. She ran her fingers through her bangs, ensuring that they covered the faint scar above her left eye, the last remnant of her injuries from nearly a year ago. With that completed, the mother-dancer left the room she lived in at the castle, having no desire to live on her own, but having no one to live with. She made her way down to the north gate, as per the summons of one of the few people she considered a friend, the nomad Sue, daughter of Rath, Captain of the guild.

Ninian didn't quite understand what the problem was, but her dreams of late had warned her of a coming conflict, dreams which only worsened with time. Tired of sitting around and doing nothing but working at the Hostess Club, and having stayed out of the Estarcia conflict in the months earlier, she wanted to get out and do something. Yes, she had promised herself and her son that she would do her best not to get hurt again, but if that meant being left behind while everyone else went out and fought--she couldn't stand it. During the previous conflict, Ninian had constantly been worrying, not knowing for certain if her family and her friends were safe in the distant land of Estarcia. She hadn't known if her headaches had meant that someone she knew was in danger, or if their absence meant that someone had died. She hated that feeling of not knowing. So she would do what she had done so long ago, ignoring the danger of facing an unknown enemy in the dark of night in order to help her saviors, her friends, her loved one. . . . She would face danger herself to help those around her. Thus she had decided to answer Sue's summons and join the nomad in her journey to Adliana. perhaps the dancer could even be of some help in the talks that would surely follow.

Upon reaching the north gate, Ninian saw a mix of those she did and did not know standing around. Sue soon arrived, and the dancer followed the nomad off to the border city of Leera. As they entered the city, Ninian did not miss the quiet prickle in the back of her head.

There was a message that was going around Learania. It was spreading like a wildfire, reaching all corners of the city and fast. It was something that every Learanian citizen was familiar with: a leader amongst them was making a call to arms. While many warriors would gather to meet this demand for able-bodied fighters, and healers were going to be needed more than ever. Victoria heard the stories about the horrific fray in the desert, where there were no lights of a staff to sooth the wounds of those who fought so hard to save one of their companions. There were plenty of other priests here to help those at home in this clinic Victoria gave her healing services to. The Bishop of Elimine would join those going on the battlefield, helping them in whatever way possible.

While the risks were great, Victoria was more than willing to take them. As a missionary, she remembered one of her foremost duties was to travel the world and help those in need of the Lady Saint's favor. She and the other bishops, whether they were missionaries or not, believed that they were Elimine's messengers: giving her graces to those who were still alive long after the great Etrurian had passed on from the world. Victoria's steps toward the Northern Gate must have been the Lady Saint's will, much like the bishop's own fate to end up in Learania. She told herself these words many times, but she couldn't help but say it once again in her mind. "These people of the Guild are my new Order. When someone's part of an Order, they protect one another... if this is the second chance Elimine gave me, I'll take it."

And maybe it was even more than just helping her new Order, doing her patriotic duty, and her holy duty. She thought about how Learanian life was exciting, but not too dramatic all at once. There was never a dull day here. There were always forces of evil to smash, people to rescue or allies to be made in the daily life of a Learanian citizen. To live in the city of heroes, one expected to become a hero themselves. Even those without swords and shields could be saviors.

When she arrived at the North Gate, Victoria heard the talk of the others whom had gathered there. At the head of the group was a Nomad Trooper. Everyone mostly recognized her as the crewmember, Rath's daughter, and she was supposedly leading these warriors to the land of Adliana. "This will be interesting, won't it?" The bishop said to no one in particular, wondering if someone would respond. She hadn't personally met any of the nomads of Adliana, but if they were anything like the Captain of FEF, they were worth making acquaintances out of.

With her boots on that she always trusted in her years as a missionary, Victoria was able to walk the distance on foot to the border town of Leera without too much effort. Often times, missionaries were too poor to afford horses or carriages, so a good, comfortable pair of boots kept a servant of light walking for long hours they usually went without seeing a village or town. This felt like just another trip on the many pilgrimages Victoria had been through.

Taking a good look at the town, it was kind of exciting! It was a nice blend of Adlianan and Learanian cultures in this town, where the heroes of both worlds were celebrated with grand statues. Vendors sold luck charms made hand-crafted from the nomads, and classic Learanian and Adlianan cuisine was lined out for all to smell and see on the streets. What would she go for first, the tribal charms or the delicious food? There was so much to choose from! Wait. "We're supposed to meet with Chieftain Songhua first! Stay focused and buy things later!" Hopefully, no one noticed her almost giddy expression just a second earlier.

Ahhh come on. Live a little!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm betting my happiness life on this one

"You lose again, looks like that's a new sword you owe me now." Joshua said as a grin split his sweaty face, offering a hand to the fallen guard member who was now probably hearing more then a few bells.

"You can't be serious... I already owe you; all of my money, my next commission, my house and my firstborn child!" The solider wailed as he accepted the offered hand.

"Hey now, I'm always serious about gambling... tell you what I'm a reasonable man and I'm in a good mood, how about you just buy me two really nice swords?" His was starting to get dull anyways, a new one would be really nice, maybe a sliver one. Walking with his current sap sparring partner across the Guard Training Field, Joshua looked a sight better then he had the last mini-event.

After the Rajin Fiasco, Joshua had taken a temporary vacation from the Guard and had locked himself in his home for a few weeks. He probably would have stayed there for a few months had he not grown tired of trying to gamble with himself... the dirty cheater. So he simply repressed his memory of almost being raped by a Tiger-Man who in the end settled for simply beating him down for no reason, of course Joshua was probably going to return the favor the next time he saw the tiger.

"Is Joshua here? Joshua! There you are, I've got a message for you." An out of breath messenger rushed towards the swordmaster and handed him a note which Joshua read quickly.

"Adliana? The nomad country?"

"Yes, you've been chosen to represent the guard."

"Uhhh, why me?"

"Your clothes"

"My clothes?"

"They look..... uhhh Nomaddy."

"......... What? No they don't! I'm from the desert."

And so, Nomad looking or not, Joshua had found himself dashing towards the north gate, with a shiny new silver sword, and a cool longsword in either side of his sash. He was just in time to hear a bishop comment on how the trip would be "Interesting".

"Interesting isn't always good when you've got luck like mine... we're probably walking into a trap."

Thankfully the trip to Leera was completely trap free and faster then you can say "Time Skip" they were there.

Forthcoming Resentment

[X]
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Leera. It is a small town, or more accurately put, a small Learanian province town. It has been established since the days of Leander, when Learania actually took part in setting up colonies within the plains. When Leander outlawed slavery, many Learanians returned to their own country, but there were quite a few who decided to remain despite the cultural resentment. The ones who stayed kept their citizenship, and the colonies became simple province towns. They do not belong to either Adliana or Learania, these days, and people from both countries have long called the province towns their home. Many traders come through these towns, as they are filled with vendors of all kinds. The cultures of both countries can be seen and is always refreshing. Throughout the years of bottled up resentment, these towns have shone through as hope that it was indeed possible to live in peace, together. Lately however, things were different.

As the newly arrived group entered into the town, an eerie hush fell upon the citizens. They observed the group who had clear representation of Learania for a few seconds and then slowly got back to their business. But never once was there not a set of eyes glaring at the group.

The reason for the strange behavior of the citizens of this town could easily be guessed. Word travels fast, and even these townsfolk had learned of the news about Learania's attack. In a town where both Learanians and Adlians lived, life suddenly became very, very awkward. So far, there had been no huge fights, but to say that there was no tension existing in the town was a blatant falsehood. Learanians suddenly could only be seen walking with other Learanains. Adlians could never be seen walking alone, as if they were suddenly insistent on using the buddy system... like they thought that something would happen, if a Learanian citizen came upon them, these days.

The town bustled as it normally did, though. Outspoken words on current events were few and far between, due to fear from both cultures. One side feared to admit that they had an issue with the other, while that other feared of saying anything at all for chance of making things worse. But nothing could stop people from giving off looks; disgust, fear, resentment, hatred. All these things were slowly coming to the surface from one way or another. The Learanian group would be able to see just how deep the lies about their country and the effects were reaching.

User ImageWhen a messenger from the castle arrived at the humble home the Fire Dragon and Nils shared on the outskirts of Eyris, bearing a message of the call to assemble at the North Gate for a journey into Adliana, FD gladly decided to take the opportunity. Nils had been busy as always with his work as a crew member in the guild, the two were still in the process of planning their ever-delayed wedding, and FD needed an outlet to think about something other than wedding plans. Besides, he had forgone participation in the war in Estarcia this past winter and had been looking for an opportunity to travel outside of Learania for a while now for a number of reasons. He and his future sister-in-law, Ninian, had both vowed to participate in the next Learanian effort that took people outside of the country, both having been absent during the Estarcia dilemma.

Nils wasn’t home, so FD quickly scribbled a note explaining his answer to the call should the bard not already have been aware of it when he returned home and then readied himself for the trip. Fire Dragon didn’t really need much in terms of supplies – he was his own weapon when transformed and had no difficulty hunting should he have to procure a meal with his draconic abilities. Still, he was sure to take with him a satchel with a fair amount of money with him, along with the spare flask of water and some rations of food should hunting not be an option before departing for the designated meeting place. He was unsure of what locations the trip would involve visiting, and usually carried little-to-no gold on him, but the very possibility of going to Ardisis for whatever reason excited FD with the idea of getting an exotic wedding gift for Nils he wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else should their paths cross the bustling trading town at some point while in Adliana. Heck, even if they didn't go to Ardisis specfically, he was sure to come across all sorts of Nomadic goods worth taking back home.

Once ready, he set out for the North Gate. He arrived around the same time Sue, his Nomadic friend and fellow Host Club member in charge of this endeavor, did. Sure enough, Ninian was already present, as were other people the dragon was familiar with, such as the lovely Aruna and Victoria, mixed with others he’d never met (perhaps the dragon would befriend a new comrade today). Soon enough, the group was off.

Also soon enough, they had arrived in borderland of Leera, which felt like a collection of white elephants, with the citizenry very awkward to unfriendly vibes and glances, oozing silent hostility. It wasn't the first time FD had experienced such treatment, but it didn't change the fact that it made him uncomfortable, let alone the unpleasant old memories it ressurected for the dragon. Regardless, they were here with a purpose, and certainly couldn't return without having done anything to actualize their goals.

Edward was helped up but before he could say sorry and thank you, the stranger left. "Oh.... That was strange.... why do I have such a familiar feeling? I feel like, that person was something else." Edward shook his head. He continued on his way towards the North Gate. The myrmidon's arm guard's strings snapped and he felt it slip a little. "Damn it, I really need more money, I usually keep these things in check but..."

Edward quickened his pace rapidly. He got to the North Gate and a man there was hiring mercenaries just like the rumor said.

"I'm hiring anyone who wants to clean out these freaking monsters. They look like humans, but they're not. Be on your guard."

Edward took the job, his employer gave him money right on the spot. "I want you to go to Leera and take care of any monsters there."

Edward nodded and headed on the road to Leena. He whistled happily as he checked how much gold he had received. 5000? Not bad. I'd better finish the job. He arrived at Leena pretty fast and he started looking for people... that didn't look human.

User Image Were they there yet? Were they there yet? Were they there yet? Kalilah honestly did not expect this many people to show up but guess Sue's words spread fast that so many people wished to come along. Bah the little sword user just wanted to go back to her beautiful sea of grass and chase bunnies, capture butterflies...the works! She was homesick, never had she been so far away from Adliana before so it was quite a bit to get used to.

Where was she suppose to meet him anyhow? Oh! Leera? This town they just entered? It seemed....gloomy! D: Why were people staring? Or looking at her funny? Was she sitting weird on her horse? Granted she's not really used to riding a horse in the first place. Was her saddle wrong? Was she holding the reins in a funny way? Kalilah didn't know! She just kept smiling, so much that if someone looked closely, they could see flowers randomly popping up around that cheeky face of hers.

Kalilah wasn't even sure where Chief Songhua wanted to meet her. Borderline of Learania and Adliana was all she remembered..he didn't exactly specify which location..so how was she suppose to find him in the midst of this town! D:!

Oujay doubled checked the pack in his room to see if he had everything he need. He heard the news that had quickly spread around and volunteered to go. He nodded to himself as everything was checked off to be in his bag. Everything seemed good to him so he closed the pack and quickly tossed it to his back. He took one more look at the room and walked out closing the door behind him.

Instantly, the door opened back up with Oujay standing in front of the door. He had never felt like such an idiot. He walked over and picked up his sword. He can't believe that he nearly forgot his own sword. It seemed as though he apologized to the sword. He looked around once more to make sure he didn't forget anything else. After making sure, he left to meet at the North Gate where he was told to meet. After they had met up they took off towards Adliana.

In a way, Oujay was looking forward to going on another journey since he hasn't been on a journey in so long. The last time he actually went on a journey was with Lord Roy and to fight against Bern back on Elibe. Oujay looked around the group and saw some people he recognized like Sue and others he did not. And as always, Oujay felt just as shy as ever being around people he did not know. Some of the Laguz terrified him in a way, like the lion looking one. He had never seen him before either. Not sure if he had been here already or is someone new. Oujay shook his head and tried to be brave and focus. He's a warrior and shouldn't be scared or something like that. However, that doesn't mean he can get rid of his shyness.

As Oujay kept on being shy around the new people, they eventually arrived to Leera. He looked around and noticed something was different in the air. He saw the eyes looking at him and it seemed as if tension around the whole town. Something seemed wrong and Oujay could only take a guess.
