spuntino Well, I don't think it's overwhelming just as fairy kei. Fairy kei alone is cute on it's own. It's the fusion with lolita that baffles the hell out of me and that I find I don't like, because it seems like the combination ends up making it really tacky rather than sweet?
Like, the fairy kei I've seen is very cotton candy, fluffy and cute.
The fairy kei lolita "blends" I've seen end up either looking like lolita with a slew of other things thrown on with very little planning, or else are fairy kei with AP accessories thrown on [not bad, but not a true fuse].
So.
Yeah.
I'm not very fond of deco-lolita either. Mostly for the same reason. Everyone either carbon copies the girls who do it well, or they look like they just couldn't decide what accessories to wear that day. I mean. I'm sure there are people out there who dislike how I dress, too. But that's everyone's prerogative, y'know?
Hm, well i suppose its ok for those who look at others girls cooridinates for inspiration, but it is annoying when someone tries to pull off the carbon copy cooridinate. stressed That I agree. Heh, I won't convince you otherwise. I like how you pull your coordinatates but its too mature in my tastes. sweatdrop Yet it well suits you best! 3nodding So we agree to disagree? heart

I almost died when I read that. razz I enjoy the look of sweet lolita. However, I'd look feel (it's an opinion, and I'm sure someone out there would be of the opinion that I'd look great in it, but I dont) about as silly as a 60 yr old woman in a mini skirt if I were to wear it. So I stick to classic and ero. sad I'm so oooold! but I like the "older" styles, I feel pretty in them, so it's okay.

Rofl, I figured you were being silly what with the whippersnapper comment ;p. Any pics posted of you in sweet? For me, it's the cut that I feel off in. I can wear the prints, but something about a high empire waist or a puffier blouse with the bib collar just makes me feel out of place. I wonder, with some of these style like fairy kei or sweet, is the cut as important as the print for it to qualify? I know the skirt has to be a certain shape at the bottom, but what about specific blouse shape or waist type? For example, if I were to get a classic lolita dress, but in fruits parlor print, would it still be classic because of the shape?

Kittywitch C a t h a r s i s Ophiucha There is a small group of (mostly plus-size) girls who go for a Viking-lolita look. Fur trims instead of lace, lots of greens and browns (sometimes white and gray, too), and a few girls I know made hair pins from small horns. From what I've seen, braids are pretty common, too. But they still use the classic skirts, corsets, and styles. It's rather pretty when done right. That sounds really interesting, I've never heard of it before. I wonder if there are any pictures of that style? Mouse: Go ahead then! When I post pics of myself in my kandi raver outfits, a lot of times people think I'm trying to be decora because of all the bracelets, neons, and retro screenprints and stuff. I guess being laughed at in Lolita (and raver outfits) doesn't bother me because I'm so used to it. I think if I tried anything else out, it might bother me more because a new style might be less "me" than "me in lolita". XD I tried to draw a viking lolita once but I failed horribly at the design. I'd love to see how someone made it work. I found this sprite once when I was helping my friend design a headband for her outfit. :3

There are quite a few photos of me in sweet, but most of them are from a while ago. Most of them have a some kind of twist to them.
Also, those photos are all out of order chronologically.
Also, the cut does and doesn't matter. They affect what can go onto the dress at different places, how the print interacts, but otherwise don't define the style. You can get A-line sweet dresses and cupcake-fluff classic dresses. It all depends on the details of how things are worn, to be honest.
Fruits Parlor will always be sweet, due to the colors and the content of the print. You could possibly tweak it into a punk coordinate for the sake of irony, or maybe into a hime style outfit, but the sweet implication will always be there. Rose Toilette however can be sweet or classic or hime or possibly even gothic depending on what you wear with it. The classification is all in the details of the outfit. A lot of the dresses I have in those photos could go three or four directions or substyles, just by changing my shoes, blouse and footwear. This is true for most lolita pieces, within a certain range.

Spunito- I love your pics! Your style is unique, and I have to say it looks fantastic. I, however, look adorable in even the most outlandish things I wear (which isn't that extreme), and I love sweet lolita fluff. I can wear classic, but the ensembles have to be less adult-like to look good on me. LOL I love the Kung-Fu Panda pic!

That helps a bunch, and I've been doing more research on my own too as far as bending and blending items, styles and patterns between lolita styles goes. A lot of stuff I wear could be one thing or the other apparently, which is kinda cool.
