Anastasia laughed lightly, though completely polite. "You are very welcome." Not wanting to take up too much time with the hostess, as she was obviously rather busy greeting guests as they arrived, she turned to her son, her eyes matching his in color.
"Come now, Howl," she simply instructed, which her teal-haired son easily responded by simply guiding her away. He casually glanced through the various groupings of people as they settled into the setting, seeing familiar faces and some unfamiliar ones too. There was even another Hillworth student present (though sadly, Howl was not very well acquainted with the lad).
As they sifted through, the brunette simply reminded her son "If you see anybody you know, I insist that you introduce us." She paused and smiled at her son. "I almost feel like a stranger now. I cannot even say I know any of your acquaintances, son."
With his free hand, he patted his mother's arm which was linked with his own. "I promise, Mother, I shall if I see any I know."

Elke waved jauntily (barely within the restraint required by such a formal occasion) to her mother as Aysel joined the society sharks. Then she spun around, staring at the opulent surroundings with a smile. It was like being at home again, when Papa was having fancy state dinners or some such. She missed this.
It was just then that she spotted Howl, recognizing him as the Hillworth boy she had curbstomped a youma to death in front of; she had been about to go say hello, maybe perform Reconnaissance about how he thought of the senshi, when someone tapped on her shoulder. Her society smile in place (Maman had warned her about old men wanting to marry pretty young girls) she turned, and then the expression widened into a beam. "Yes, I am she," said Elke properly, tilting her head and giggling at the strange pronunciation. Still, it wasn't a common name, so she assumed she was the right one.
"Oh!" She brightened, clapping her hands together. Her skirts swished across the floor as she almost danced in place. The bag around her wrist jingled. "Of course I do!" She slipped her arm through Audrey's. "It's so nice to meet you, your hair is so pretty, how do you get it to be so blue? I try but always, always, it comes out teal." With a pout, she checked to see if the other girl was smiling again. Maman had said to be on her best behavior, which meant not effusing compliments, but a friend of Jada's was a friend of Elke's, surely?

Gabbie watched the people flooding in with curious eyes. A few she recognized in a vague sort of way, a very few she recognized from school. But the vast majority were people she didn't know and wasn't sure she wanted to know.
She caught a flash of purple out of the corner of her eye and frowned slightly as she most definitely recognized Idiot Boy (as she'd mentally dubbed him that day outside the fast food place). Well, monsters and aliens and magic cards weren't likely to intrude on this place tonight, so she wouldnt' have to worry about him.
Murmuring polite nothings and nodding to those who spoke to her, Gabbie found herself heartily bored. If only her leg wasn't broken, she could have danced or gone for a walk outside or something. I don't belong here, she thought irritably. She wished that Khalla or Elzo could have been there. At least then she'd have had someone to talk to!

It was always the hair! Thankfully somewhere around age ten Audrey'd learned to simply laugh and take it in stride, while assuring everyone that no, it was her natural color. Patting Elke's arm comfortingly, she broke the bad news. "I've never dyed my hair in my life, this is all natural." Realizing that pulling her arm out like that revealed the healing brown and pink scrapes, she immediately lowered it again with an embarrassed smile. "Thank you though, most of the time I love my hair. The hairdresser Jada was nice enough to share with me did something miraculous and made it not frizzy for a change." Fallon had done the same thing with condition, something the teen had been unable to replicate on her own lately.
Quickening her step as they neared the stairs, Audrey disentangled herself from Elke and nodded up to the top where Jada was hiding around the corner. "Gotta make a quick move up the stairs before the Dragon gets you, but Jada should be right up there. I'm behind you though, so don't worry about a sneak attack from behind!" The grin was wide and conspiratorial. This was possibly going to be more fun than she thought!

For the most part Emmeline wasn't a huge fan of getting all dressed up, especially when it was more for her mother than herself. Luckily, on this night Emmy would be left to her own devices at this ball. Her mother and father were called away last minute, so all she really had to do was get pictures taken them. She had tried to get out of going but alas to no avail. So here she was, at a party where she was sure most people didn't like her. If only it were a masquerade, then at least there was some mystery in it.
On this night she was wearing a black and blue gown, accented by a sapphire and diamond ring, necklace, and bracelet. Even though her hair was done differently than usual, it still adorned her trademark hair sticks. Maybe no one would recognize her all done up? That was..doubtful at best. Maybe she would just stay by the food all night long. She wasn't quite sure how this was all going to play out, as nothing really interesting happens at these things. However, deep inside Emmy had a sinking feeling she might be wrong.

Calintha was the recipient of a smile and a bow, as well as two curtseys for her small donation, which was whisked away just like the rest of them. "Such a lovely little dress." Szelem complemented her, but her lime eyes were drawn to that little pet pauper of her daughter's talking to Elke Arma. What on earth had- Oooooh! Szelem kept her eyes level, her smile benevolent. "Have a wonderful evening, Miss Johnson." she said finally, to Calintha. "Welcome to the ball."

Elke's eyes widened for a moment, then she said, "I am envious. Sigh." Her smile only grew, though, as Audrey continued to talk. Good friends, she hoped, maybe, someday. She tended to make friends fast, and hoped it out be the case with all of Jada's friends. Then she gathered her skirts into one hand, exposing her black pumps with their conservative heel as they hurried up the stairs. "There's a dragon," asked Elke over her shoulder, voice pitched to sound curious. Jada's mom seemed nice enough. Tight-lipped now, she noted, but nice enough. Was Jada's grandma around or something, ruling over the ball with an iron fist--claw--something? She would have asked another question, but there was Jada, and she was so pretty. Elke drew to a stop once out of sight of the ballroom, curtsied, then said, "I'm so sorry I didn't visit you when you were ill, Jada. Maman--" She paused, pouting a little. No French tonight. It was an American party. "Mama was here, and she wouldn't let me. I'm sorry." Her restraint (remarkable, for those who knew her as Elke or as Virgo) broke then, and she threw herself the remaining distance to hug Jada close. "I missed you so much I was so worried and I don't know when your birthday is but I got you this because it must be soon or already passed, I guess, I don't know, here--" The tiny green drawstring bag was held between them. Inside, Jada would find a labradorite pendant--not expensive by any means, but. "Mama made it," she said. "I promised to let her dye my hair for tonight if she would let me give it to you."

"...I can sympathize with that." Jaimie noted, wandering through the crowd toward Jaimie. He'd recently managed to get un-casted himself, ((From a run in with Moonstone.)) and was still limping a little. "Can I get you a drink or something?"
Because of his own recent liberation from plaster, he planned to largely excuse himself from dancing, though not entirely. He didn't have that good of an excuse. But talking to a girl in a cast... That was at least good way to tie up a few songs.

Upstairs, hidden from view, Jada was ecstatic as she watched her friend start back up with the other girl in tow. So that was Elke! Jada refrained from making her gleeface, waiting to do so until the door was closed on the screened-in room. "Powitanie, Elke." she teased her friend with one of the two polish words they had learned together. Elke flung herself at Jada and was caught by her. "It is fine you didn't visit, my darling." She clung to her friend for a moment before releasing her.
She stepped back, twirling for Elke in her white gown.
"Ugh, my friends are all so gorgeous." she beamed at the three women in the room with her. "I'm positively green with envy." Well, it wasn't envy making Jada green. It was the numbers of people out there, most of whom would be judging her. Deeming her worthy or unworthy. "My birthday is in August, but I told you how Mother is. She's hoping my husband is in the crowd, so I can be married on my eighteenth birthday." She rolled her eys, and tugged open the gift Elke had brought her, gleefully.
"Oh, Elke, it is lovely." she beamed at her friend. "I wish I could put it on right now." she paused, then laughed and slipped it on, removing the string of pearls to let the pendant hang between her breasts. "It is beautiful." She wrapped the pearls around her wrist to remind herself to put them back on before she went out into the pool of sharks down below. "Thank you so much."

Xander was content to let his sisters mind wanders. As of yet he had not have to fend anyone off of his sister and the night was turning out to be a rather pleasant affair. He wondered what time it was and was a bit sore that his mother had insisted that he not wear a watch. Xander of course understood why and went along without an argument.
He was pulled from his though by a tug from Lily, "I know him." She was looking at a boy that resembled a puppy and Xander frowned as he sister began to pull away from him.
"I am going to go say hi, okay Xander," she said walking toward Azzo and leaving her brother standing alone. She gave a smile to her brother over her shoulder. He was goregous and she was sure some lovely lady would come keep him company soon.
She continued onward toward the waltzing pair and Lily wondered if the woman was the grandmother the boy had spoke of. She approached the carefully, not really wanting to interupt, but at the same time wanting to say hi.
"Hello Azzo," she said softly, almost to low for her to be heard.

Kallista stepped out of the limo, being guided by a young man that was guiding the guests in. She wore a dress that went to the floor. She was not one to get all dressed up for a ball that was occurring while she was in school. It wasn't very often that there were balls around. She lifted her dress so she wouldn't step on the hem and wore pink matching Cinderella shoes. She walked into the room sheepishly, afraid that they came too late but it seemed like some guests were still arriving. ~*~ Trevor stepped out from the limo following after his younger sister, slightly glaring at the man that was guiding the guests in, he was not one who trusted anyone for that matter. He made a face as he adjusted his tuxedo, he wondered if he knew anyone at the debutante ball, and he had to come since Kallista was so eager to come but couldn't come without an escort. He figured it would be good for both of them to meet some new people and make some friends. He followed his sister into the house and looked around at all the guests, he saw Emmy and he saw Liliana, but decided to go see them a little later.

Zora's voiceless praise made Vanessa beam with delight. Fortunately for everyone in attendance, particularly Kayley herself, the china doll's distasteful sniff went completely over her head. Mr. Rae, however, noticed and, desiring to avoid any kind of violent confrontation at all costs, hastily placed a hand at the small of Vanessa's back as she stood up and endeavoured to get her the hell out of there. The auburn haired girl looked to her father and shook away his hand, not wanting to be pushed around, but followed him anyways as he led her away from the front of the line.
John Jr wanted to stay and chat but, as his father placed a protective hand on his shoulder and started steering him towards the food, the little boy only had time to wink conspiratorially at his new friend. He made a mental note to find Lucas again as soon as the opportunity presented itself.
Mr. Rae stopped his children at the buffet, and John Jr, one part hungry and two parts curious, dug eagerly into the food. There were things here he had never seen before, and he wanted to try them all.
Vanessa was less interested in the food than she was the people. Except for in Disney films, she had never seen so many dresses or sharply dressed men in one place. Here, surrounded by all the glitz and glamour of the ballroom and the sophisticated mannerisms of the event's attendees, it was difficult to feel like anything other than a princess. She liked it.
She recognized some of the people here from school. Most of them she had never met before, but there was Azzo, the boy who'd helped her with her groceries, and Howl, whom she'd rescued from a stray dog in the guise of Super Van. Vanessa forgot that he wouldn't know her as herself, and waved enthusiastically at the boy who'd bought her tea. There was a brilliant smile on her face.

Teal eyes managed to catch the wave of an auburn-haired girl's hand. Yet, there was no recognition in his expression. There was no familiarity. In fact, the lad simply assumed she was waving to some other person who might have been behind him at that point. Yet, Howl was not rude in the slightest and simply smiled in the girl's direction.
"Who is that girl?"
Anastasia was apparently fairly observant as well. She glanced to her son, keeping her lips close to his ear so she didn't have to speak loudly.
"I have absolutely no idea, Mother," was the calm response he gave to the woman he was escorting.
"I see..." It was not past Anastasia to form ideas about people simply based upon how they carried themselves. The rather sudden and brash greeting only seemed to lower the brunette's opinion of the girl. The auburn-haired girl was absolutely unrefined.

After being greeted very respectfully, if not a little distracted by the hosts, Calintha nodded her head politely and swept into the ballroom looking a little lost. She hadn't seen any sign of Fallon, but she would bet that the girl was wherever Jada was, waiting for her grand introduction. She recognized several people from school, but there were even more that she had no clue. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of teal and gold. It was a bit too high up to be someones dress, so that only left one option. She turned and maneuvered a bit checking to see if it was actually the boy she'd given violets to. After a second she spotted him again, with a beautiful older woman dressed in black. Calintha might have guessed that she was his date if they had not looked similar; while the woman lacked his teal hair, she certainly had the same feminine charm that graced Howl. Calintha weaved her way through the crowd over to him, a smile on her face. She wondered if he would recognize her after all of her primping, considering she did double takes of her own reflections in things. "Howl, I had a feeling you might be here tonight."

Serenade Soriano arrived alone to the ball, with no escort or with no family, even though she was driven there by their family driver. (It was not right to be escorted by staff.) Still, she had been assured by Elke and Eve that they would be there too, and that Crystal schoolmates were invited. As long as she had someone from her Court to hang out with throughout the evening, she figured that it would be fine. Besides, it was for charity, which was a worthy cause to support. Who knew how many had gotten hurt because of the Negaverse's tricks? Destiny City Memorial had probably gotten more patients than ever now, and she and a few of her friends had been hospitalized there before.
The occasion was a formal one, and being a concert pianist, she knew how to dress formally and appropriately for the affair, or so she hoped. (Serenade really did worry too much after events such as being the subject of theft.) After much deliberation, she had chosen to wear a sweet little black dress complete with pearls around her neck, and black heels. Her jewelery was matched by pearl earrings and the usual hairband she constantly wore was substituted by a pretty tiara instead. She had almost wanted to simply wear her long green hair down, but Eve had came by and insisted that she do it up in a half updo and declared her 'a very pretty princess indeed'.
When she reached Szelem Chamberlyn, the girl gave a curtsy before introducing herself. "I'm charmed to be invited to such a worthy event, ma'am. I'm Serenade Soriano. My parents express their regrets that they cannot make it here; they are still currently on tour." With this, she presented an ivory envelope which had $20,000 enclosed. Perhaps it was more than her parents expected her to donate in their absence, but they did not know the cause of Destiny City's attacks like she did. Perhaps it was a way of reassuring herself that she was doing some good even when not in the guise of a Senshi.
