-He was right actually. Her room probably could have made it into the little brochures that the schools passed out. It wasn't really lived in or homey feeling. One would be hard pressed in fact to guess about the girl's hobbies from clues left around. She didn't mind however, she was far too busy to spend too much time there.
Motioning towards the door again, she began to prattle, finding herself somehow more soothed and comfortable with the thought of preparing food.- "I went to the elementary school back at home, but my step monster thought it would be best if I went other places for highschool."
-The door was opened and held for him, Aurora following after once he'd gone through.- "Not that it's entirely her fault, my father is correct in the thought that I'm better off learning how to be a proper lady in places like this instead of on some remote farm."
"But I know that her prodding is what started it all. She's always been quite jealous of how close Daddy and I were." -There was a look on her face that was entirely childish as she spoke about the situation, it almost seemed proud.-
"They thought it'd be best if I visited a few places, traveled the world so to say. So I was at two other boarding schools before I came here. But I'm going to refuse to move on to another one when the school year ends. Like I said, I quite like it here."
-Leading the way through winding corridors they reached the home ec room after a few minutes. A half dozen modern and well equipped little kitchens filled most of the room with a long table centered between them. Placing her things on the nearest countertop she slide off to the fridge to find the rest of the ingredents.-
"About twice a year I get to visit, whether I go home and see everyone or if father comes to visit the school. But I call atleast once a week, and he sends me some nice care packages every month or so."

Azzo frowned a bit when she said step monster, it'd be unfortunate to deal with such a lovely sounding lady. "Huh, my father might get along with her." He muttered before falling quite again.
He mused over the childish proudness that Aurora held, though he couldn't blame her, with a nod he agree, "Perhaps they won't make you move. It is a really nice place." He agreed as he continued to follow her when they got to the home ec room his eyes widened slightly, "Grams would love it here."
Of course Grams was no culinary chief, but she was the best cook he knew. Well as far as knowing cooking that wasn't fast food. He didn't often eat with friends' family or what not, mainly because he'd never had a reason too.
He paused, "It's a shame you can't see them more." He said softly, as he found a seat and settled in to watch. "I'm not much of a cook but if you need help washing anything or something I'd be happy to help. I can at least do that." He offered with a chuckle watching her look through the fridge.

-Nancy hardly deserved the title step monster. She didn't abuse the children, or send them to bed without dinner often. She wasn't even particularly cruel or even unpleasant to people. She was just a woman who loved a man and his money, with mostly indifference towards the seven little ones that came in tow with him. Very few could blame her for not feeling the desire to mother so many children that weren't her own. But to Aurora she'd quickly become the solo rival to her father's love and attention, and the child had acted, strangely enough for her, LIKE a child. They were rivals and in Aurora's mind she was the better of the two, and she couldn't help but try to prove it time and again.
As she worked preparing things she nodded to his offer, motioning to the sink as she put the first dirty knife into it. Time passed by rather quickly as she cooked and he cleaned.-
"Your father hmm?" -She'd assumed he hadn't had one.. being raised by his grandmother and all.-
"Maybe next time we have a 'family' cook in in Home Ec I can invite you and your grandmother? It's not like I have anyone near enough to come to them anyway. It could be fun."

He watched her and walked over to the sink cleaning the dishes as she finished with them. "Yeah, he's not quite pleasant."
Azzo muttered, "They're across the sea he's in the armed forces."
He paused when she offered to to invite them to a family cook. "Oh Grams would love that I'm sure." He said with a smile, as he leaned on the counter beside Aurora.
He watched as Aurora cooked and prepared the food.

"Oh the military? My father is a rancher."
"Military work is so noble.. but very scary I think. I would be worried sick if I always thought my daddy's life was in danger."
-In her attempt to impress she was making a large array of dirty dishes for him to tend to. Measuring cups, spoons, a bowl for the dough, a plate to flatten the dough, a cutting board for meat, a cutting board for vegetables, and spoons, oh so many spoons. Her meat was cut to three pieces before two were covered in the dough and shuttled off to the oven.
The last piece of meat was put in a skillet on the stove with a mixture of green beans, onions, bacon, corn, just a little brown sugar, and spices. Now and then she'd lift the spoon and offer to him to test it. More salt here? What about this? How was that?
The kitchen was slowly warming from the heat flowing from the oven and sink, and the atmosphere was no different. Aurora seemed relaxed in the kitchen, contented as she went from task to task, chattering away about nothing at all. Her classes that semester, the teacher that demanded way too much homework. The half hour of cooking came and went and when they were done two plates sat on the middle table. Beef wellington, fine slabs of filet meat hidden inside a crisply browned pastry shell and a pile of vegetables. It was certainly pretty, if nothing else. She looked at him expectantly as she finished, for now seeming to ignore the meat that was still nestled in the remaining vegetable mix.-

Azzo watched while he cleaned and occasionally took a break if it looked like she was going to dirty up enough that he might as well wait for a sink load.
"Mmm he's more of a Drill Sargent, he does field work every now and then but mostly he just yells at people." Azzo frowned, which is why they never got along. "He doesn't realize the difference between Grunts and Family sometimes."
Granted, Grunts were his father's family. "It's just easier to live with grams and since gramps is gone she needs someone to keep her company."
He'd taste test and offer his opinion however, he'd also point out he was no gourmet cook either. While he loved the taste of food, he couldn't say if that's how the recipe was suppose to be. Granted he never insulted the cook unless their cooking decided to try to break his teeth 'cause they forgot the baking soda in cookies... luckily that only happened once.
However when the conversation turned he listened mostly occasionally putting in two cents here or there, and asking a question or two to show he was listening. He didn't have much to complain about other than they were keeping him WAY too long in high school. He'd be 19 in April and that was enough schooling for him. However, he kept that opinion to himself as he watched her fix things occasionally peering over and asking her what she was doing and why.
Grams would've loved it. When she finished his mouth was watering and his stomach protested at the fact he hadn't dug in yet. "Oh wow. It all looks and smells so good..."
He paused, hmm... something was missing on the table. Forks and Spoons for one he took some of the freshly cleaned utensils out of the drain that was sitting there, wiped them dry once more with a towel and offered them to her, "I think we forgot these." He said with a chuckle.

"Ahhh.." -She responded softly to his explaination nodding her head a bit even as she'd continued to chop and stir. Her father's coddling was likely due to the loss of his wife and the fact that she was the only girl of the family then any real ingrained trait. Aurora didn't know if she would have been close with him at all if he were as gruff as Azzo was saying, and that was a difficult thing for her to think.. for a daddy's girl to think about not liking their daddy.- "It seems like you and your grandmother are both pretty happy with the arrangements though, so that's all that really matters, no?"
-Her smile was very bright as she watched him look over the final table setting, seemingly happy with his reaction. Taking the silverware, she settled herself into her own chair, pausing only briefly to peek at the clock. They'd have enough time to eat at a leisurely pace, and when she was done she could pack up the leftovers to send off with him. All before the sun set even. If he left before dark she'd have less rumors and gossip to attend to. Not to mention she wouldn't have to deal with rudely shoving him off so that she could get out and patrolling.
Cutting into the pasty wrapped meat delicately, she paused once more to look up at him, seeming intent on watching his first bite first.-

Azzo gave a nod, softly. "Yes, it's better this way at least." He said softly, he missed his mother but grams was the next best thing.
He sat down at the table taking up his own silverware, while he didn't quite remember all the fancy stuff, he at least remembered to keep his elbows off the table as he took the fork in hand and started to cut the meat, seeing if it was tender enough to do without the knife and proceeded to eat it. "Mmm..." He managed through a mouthful, and when he swallowed, "You're going to have to show Grams some of these recipes. You'd be like watching a cooking show for her."
He continued happily in indulging himself in food. "I think Grams always wanted to go to a school to learn how to professionally make meals, she just never got the chance." He added between bites.

((Unless you have anything you'd really like them to talk about (in which case I'd be happy to edit) I'm gonna push this towards the end so we can move on to our new rps! biggrin ))
-Aurora absolutely beamed as Azzo spoke eating up each compliment with delight. If food was, as they often said, the way to a man's heart, flattery was certainly the way to a woman's.-
"It'd be so fun to have a dinner date sometime! I'd love to come over or have you guys over for that." -Aurora was far more a homestyle cook then a gourmet one, having only a handful of really exciting or fancy dishes that she picked up through her rich boarding school classmates, but if he said she was good well then she wasn't going to argue! Taste was more important then looks in the right after all, atleast in her opinion.
Once they'd finished with their food Aurora took her plate to the sink before hunting out a bowl that she doubted would be missed to put the left overs in. Easily one meals worth, perhaps two was sealed away under foil and handed off to Azzo before she escourted him towards the front of the school once more. Bring it back just whenever she'd insisted, noone would miss it.
As she paused at the school gates for their goodbyes, she took a moment to gaze at the pink and orange creeping across the sky. That had been a lot of fun, they'd totally have to do it again sometime.-

((Nope. XD Ending it is fine with me~))
Azzo grinned, "Mm... You might like our kitchen, Iunno it's not fancy double stoves but all of it's nice or antique like." He said as he nodded, "But yes, a dinner date. Of course she'd love to visit the school as well. So perhaps we can decide that at some point."
As she put the left overs in a bowl and covered the bowl in tinfoil he watched curiously. Taking it and holding it so he know he wouldn't drop it. The school could almost be a castle in his eyes as he watched the sky turn against the background of the school.
"In a way it reminds me of a castle." He said softly watching the school just a few seconds longer, before biding her goodbye and walking home with his meal in hand. He'd probably try to make it last two whole ones at least by the time the food ran out Grams should be back... She'd be jealous she didn't get any of the cooking though.
