Ekundayo nodded and smiled as Cordelia swelled with what look like surprise and pride. Her mind briefly went to the Raeven called Zul. If her friend was right, where had Zul been? And why hadn’t he met her first. Ekundayo tried to remember if Alex had said anything about her Raeven but couldn’t recall. It had already been a few months since she had left the Lab with Faye. “Wow… ,” Ekundayo murmured softly as her golden eyes watched Cordelia’s fingers count off the Raevens she could remember. For each one, there was a guardian too. She glanced over at Faye and wondered if they were all like him.
When she turned her head back to her friend, Ekundayo caught a rather unhappy look upon her face when she mentioned new Raevens. She couldn’t help but tune into Cordelia’s feelings and read a subtle sense of deplorer; was she not happy about a birth of a new Raeven? But why? Ekundayo shyly studied Cordelia’s face carefully for any more clues but to no avail as she smoothed her face into a happy smile once more. “Yes… I would like to meet your friends. I hope they are as nice as you,” she said with frank kindness..
Fathle smiled and set down his cup and propped his elbow up on his metal armrest to study Ebony as if she was an interesting conundrum. “I am glad, Ms. Shade. You had me on pins and needles for a moment,” he said with a small grin. He waited for the waiter to refill her nearly empty glass before continuing. “I also became involved with Raevens on a stroke of accidental luck, though, perhaps not in such a direct manner as you, Ms. Shade. I saw Alex’s Raeven on a brief encounter and I was rather adamant on solving the mystery behind such a unique being. As you can imagine, it wasn’t long before I was making inquiries upon becoming a guardian myself.”
He smiled to himself as if he was lost in some amusing memories, his fingers absently brushing against his bottom lip before raising his red eyes to Ebony once more. “Does it ever disconcert you that Raevens look much older than their mental capacities? This disparity was something I had to grow accustom to when I first took Ekundayo to my home. Of course, it makes one wonder why Raevens are ‘born’ fully formed and not as… infants. Did you ever feel the same, Ms. Shade? And I apologize if I am rambling,” Fathle said with a smile before pausing to wet his lips with coffee once more.

Ribbon curled and making looks of being like a kind of spring, Cordelia bounced in her seat, delightfully excited for Dayo to meet some of her friends. "They are! They are! Since we've been talking about him, you should meet Zul first! Maybe then we'll find out why he wasn't there that day at the Lab with Alex." Of course it never once occurred to the basilisk that the demonic Raevan might not want to see the downy haired eagle. Nor did it ever occur to her that maybe Zul didn't quite meet ALL of the newborns, but only a handful, and that maybe he had a life outside of the Lab like her or anyone else. Nope, she was absolutely convinced that Zul would meet with Dayo and that they'd like each other immediately and would all have lots of fun.
Ebony had meant to wave the waiter off as one cup of coffee was more than plenty, but the man had already come and serviced her before she was able to stop him. The woman sighed and said her thank yous, but also made sure the waiter knew not to give her anymore refills. She wanted to be awake tonight, not a jittery mess.
Blowing gently on her cup before taking a sip, "Ah yes, Zul. He was the first Raevan Cordelia ever met and thus she's quite smitten with him. Although not on any romantic level. At least..." Her grey eyes momentarily shifted to her ward then seeking to perhaps find something in the girl she hadn't seen before. "At least I certainly hope not. I still think she's far too young to get mixed up in any of that nonsense."
As if reading her mind, Fathle's question fell quite easily into line with her previous comments and the Brit had to chuckle a bit. "It has taken some getting use to, but since Cordelia acts rather childish most of the time, I can't help but see anything other than a child now."
Ebony tried, but she couldn't bring herself to drink anymore coffee, so she just abandoned the half cup of joe on the table, pushing it aside so there would be no mistakes as to her wanting more. Could never be too careful after all. Lacing her slender digits in much the same manner as Fathle, Ebony pondered greatly on his question. "Hmm, that's a good question Mr. Lekabel. Best left to Doctor Kyou or some other Lab staff, yet...maybe it's because of their souls? After all, who knows how long those souls actually lived before they were...reassigned."

Ekundayo smiled brightly. Her friend’s enthusiasm was literally infectious and she could feel her heart beating with excitement. The overwhelming feeling of happiness that washed over her was adequate in keeping her from noticing the strange bubble of territorial jealousy that could be so easily inflamed. “What does Zul look like? Does he look like you?” she asked. Ekundayo looked around her and pressed a small napkin in front of Cordelia and then pushed the crayons toward her. “Can you draw him?”
The thought of Ekundayo being romantically interested in someone was enough to throw Fathle’s attention off of their conversation for just a moment. He could just imagine the trials he would put his charge’s suitor through… “I never thought of it like that, Ms. Shade. An ‘aged’ soul is an interesting concept,” he said with a smile as he fast-forwarded his thoughts back to Ebony. “It was a passing fancy. I am not sure if my interest is deep enough to bother the good doctor about it.” Fathle considered asking the young woman what she envisioned for Cordelia in the future but he decided against it. It seemed to be a question that was a bit too personal for mere acquaintances. He glanced up toward the skies and saw that they had grown a shade darker. The clouds seemed to be dragging their distended bellies and falling lower until they almost seemed as though one was a ladder’s reach away from touching them.
“I would love to keep you prisoner within my company but I’m afraid that might be a bit rude of me considering this is just a chance encounter,” he said as he reached over and took the small check book the waiter had placed discreetly on the table. Fathle pulled out some money to pay for the two drinks and leave a generous tip. “And it seems that today’s showers may be upon us soon and I would not try to hinder you considering your charge’s apparent fear of rain,” Fathle added in a softer tone so he could not alarm the dark-haired Raeven sitting a small distance away.

When Dayo asked if Zul looked like her, Delia couldn't help but giggle. Shaking her head at the eagle like it was the silliest thing she'd ever heard. "No, Zul looks like Zul. I mean, he has a ribbon like we all do, but other than that..." Accepting the crayons and napkin, the snake tried her best to draw the baphomet. It was hard since Cordelia hadn't done as much drawing as she had coloring so it showed in her haphazard technique. Tongue snaking out from the corner of her mouth as she concentrated, switching from black to brown to orange and blue, it was a few minutes before Delia was finished with what she considered her best ditch effort at drawing her tri-horned friend. "TA-DAH!" she exclaimed as she brandished the picture proudly at Ekundayo. Perhaps she missed a lot during their conversation, but something like the skies darkening over head was not one she could easily overlook. Especially not with how Cordelia was now momentarily looking up towards the sky with a bit of fear slowly growing in those soulful grey eyes of hers. Despite this, Cordelia remained quiet on the subject, probably wanting to get as much time as she could with her new friend. The Brit was just about to open her mouth to make mention of the pending weather when Fathle surprised her and said it himself. She was a little disappointed, realizing that just like her Raevan, she too did not want this meeting to end so soon. There was more she wanted to know about the mysterious Mr. Lekabel. Ebony remembered though that they'd agreed to dinner at a later date. This prospect was enough to placate her for the time being. Rising from her seat and offering a hand, "Yes, I should get her home. It was a pleasure to meet you Mr. Lekabel. And to see Ekundayo again. I'm sincerely glad she's doing better in your care." Ebony waved and called over to Cordelia before turning back to the tall redhead. "If you should need anything, my number is on the guardian list provided by the Lab. Or you may just call to schedule that date."Seeing that it was time to leave, Cordelia gave a small pout, but then burst in smile again. Pushing the picture over to Dayo, "Here. You can keep it. For if you see him before I can introduce you. Just tell him you know Stormy, he'll know who you're talking about." With that the serpentine Frei gave a farewell wave and joined her guardian. "See you later Dayo!"

Ekundayo immediately learned forward on her elbows to watch Cordelia draw out the mysterious Zul. Her golden eyes followed the pale fingers as they moved from one crayon to the next. What was that she was drawing? It looked like… horns. She tilted her head with mild puzzlement at the brown appendages coming from the head. A Raeven with horns? Ekundayo glanced up at Cordelia and smiled at her dedication to the drawing. She pulled back as she was putting the last details on the picture and clapped when Cordelia was done. “Yay!” she exclaimed as she touched the drawing carefully. “Zul. I think… I like his hair,” Ekundayo said with a smile. However, the expression faltered on her lips when she saw a flicker of fear cross Cordelia’s face. She glanced up and saw how dark the sky had gotten. Oh no… the rain. She reached over and touched her friend’s fingers, her golden eyes fluttering as she soaked in some of Cordelia’s emotions. “Yes, I am excited to meet him…” she said with a smile.
Fathle stood up when he saw Ebony begin to rise from her chair. He nodded at her words. “It was a pleasure on my end as well, Ms. Shade, and I am glad to say that Ekundayo seems to have made a new friend through Cordelia,” he said before taking her hand and lifting it up to press a soft kiss to it. “And I will most assuredly call upon you at your convenience, Ms. Shade. Thank you.” Fathle let go of her hand and turned toward his own charge, beckoning to her. Ekundayo immediately floated over to his side and smiled up at him. “Cordelia gave me this,” she said with a happy smile. “It’s Zul.” He hugged her close before turning his red eyes to Cordelia. “You are very kind, Ms. Cordelia. Would you like me to escort you to your car or mode of transportation?” Fathle asked as he looked to Ebony again.

Ebony's eyes widened in surprise as the other gently took her hand as any true gentleman would instead of the obvious handshake she had meant. Again she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks and thus was very much in a hurry to get away before Fathle could notice.
"N-no no!" she stuttered hurriedly dragging a smiling and waving Cordelia along. "I mean, we should be quite fine without your assistance. Thank you!"
