Yes, That Kawaiiloid needs never to be spoken again I'm gonna make an UTAULOID named Reine Shiro, gonna be extra high pitched ^^. Anywho, the belt that she'd wearing, that's like a garter, when you're wearing one of those uuuh..... Jumpsuits I think.. I dunno what it is really

The design is overall quite futuristic, which fits her name, Miku (未来, future) more. But no point ranting about the design, since it's only the voice which matters for a Vocaloid. The art is usually just to catch the buyers interest and it lets artists know what they are drawing.
The DARK Append is probably the best out of all the Append voices. Let's see. Light, Soft, Vivid, Solid, Sweet & Dark.
DARK Append makes Miku sound mature, like she should. And if she sounds too realistic, Auto-Tune can be used to gain back some more robotic tone.
And these Appends will give her songs more emotion, so that's why there's multiple appends. Each one can fit different moods of songs.
And if I remember correctly, LIGHT Append sounds more like the original Miku, but more realistic.

.. I didn't mind the whole thing until they did this. [link]. ... Rin just lost ALLLL of her originality, and her bow shrank. ;; Its pretty, but I dunno why they did that, I seriosly hope this is fanart. And not to mention; she looks like Miku with blond hair and bigger chest.

If anything they need to overhaul Kaito and Meiko and put the Append stuff on the back burner. I'm all for the new stuff, but for the love of god not everyone likes Miku or the twins. I prefer the older ones.

Crypton needs to do something with Meiko and Kaito. Atleast update them to Vocaloid 2 or give them appends or something.

I think that's fan art. It looks like Rin but I remember seeing that somewhere else as a different anime character listed as the person in the picture.

Seriously, who buys a Vocaloid without first being a cult follower of the Vocaloid music!? xD
You don't have to believe me, but, a year ago I drew a group picture with the current Vocaloid cast [Gumi hadn't been released.] Without even knowing what they sounded like, the people who commented on it had a clear consensus to design. Miku, Rin, Len, and Luka [in that order] were awfully more popular than Kaito, and Gakupo [whose gender was questioned on multiple occasions, lol.] Meiko was barely noticed, except for one of my friends, who absolutely loves her design. And this is a consensus from your average highschool freshmen, who spend their time texting in class and listening to Lady GaGa. Obviously it doesn't take a genius to see what's going on here. gonk

OnTopic: Cover artsu plays a part in advertising. Since they improved Miku's voice, they also probably wanted to put some flashy arts on it to make it appealing anyways. Imean, this is Crypton, the only one of Yamaha's commissioned corps whose sole mission is to make pretty and popular 'loids. I don't see them doing anything but trying to get people to buy their squeaky-voiced masterpieces.
& I quote myself from a similar topic: Alysoun @Meiko/Kaito: Seriously, if you edit the s**t out of their voices, it can sound very, very realistic. But, not everyone has the patience for that. Crypton would have to re-record them with human voices... to maybe get rid of that singing-through-a-metal-pipe sound they have D: [Their voices were computer-generated, btw.]
