As far as Zach was concerned, Vulpes was the biggest threat on the field. He saw Seth's choice in character, and decided that he would be easy to handle, since Mike was such a slow character, and should be able to see him a mile away and be able to handle him accordingly. As such, Garth went straight after Vulpes.

Seth had sat and picked his character. Zach had decided that Hayes was the strongest player it seemed. Panther wasn't fooled. he was getting the hang of the awkward remote and attacked Seth, spelling out his own doom, and he knew it. but better then not fighting him, he might be more agitated if he didn't recognize him as a player. Besides Zach had Hayes occupied, there was little reason to focus on him.

Panther pulled out Link's bow and started shooting at Seth from a distance.

It looked like Zach was completely underestimating Seth. Good, because he would end up regretting it.

When the game actually started, Link was paying the most attention to Mike. Seth used the character's shield to block the arrows that were fired. And as items starting appearing on the screen, he snapped up a cloaking device and Buneary ears.

Now invisible, relatively speaking, and significantly faster, Mike jumped over Link and spun in the air before coming down on him with his sword, knocking the character back while dealing damage.

He then dashed over to where Vulpes and Garth were fighting. Coming up behind the later, still invisible, and swinging his sword to smash the other sword fighter, sending Garth careening off the screen and losing his first life.

Zach most certainly hadn't seen THAT coming. Perhaps this guy isn't all that bad at this game after all.

He was now trailing in lives from the looks of things, since he was the 1st to die. So he needed to play catch up some, he glanced around for items, and spotted a fan. He picked up and attacked Seth with it, hoping to whittle down his % while keeping him too occupied with the knockback to fight back.

Hayes' playing style had changed. While Vulpes fired shots with his blaster when the opening presented itself, he didn't press forward with his attacks. The blond's entire strategy now seemed to be 'stay out of the way,' and when his opponent's attention turned to Seth, Hayes retreated to the far side of the stage.

Something under the couch nuzzled against the back of Seth's ankles.

Garth had decided that Mike was a threat, finally. After loosing a life. Even though his character had been knocked back, he had managed to stay on the stage. Hayes was doing the smart thing, getting the heck out of the way. But the far side of the stage was also closer to the edge. He sped over there to take advantage of that fact pulling out a sword attack. He also keep an eye on the dropped items.

Mike was about to go take care of the other two... when Seth suddenly felt something fuzzy against his ankles.

"What the..." He suddenly exclaimed, his eye twitching a little as he nearly jumped off the sofa.

There was only one thing it could be...

"You damn vermin!" And reached under the sofa to try and grab it.

Only to have Mike get fan slapped off the stage and die.

Zach was rather confused by this turn of events, he hoped that the fan would help turn the tides some, but he certainly wasn't expecting him to just fall down the pit like that. He looked at Seth questioningly, and decided it was better not to ask. Seth was pissed.

A little tongue slurped across Seth's fingers, which met with something soft.

Hayes used his character's speed to his advantage, staying well out of Link's range with little effort. But there was a limit to how far you could back up, and just as Panther used a sword attack, Vulpes fell off the stage.

And grabbed the edge, pulling himself up in a sliding kick that would lead into a rapid combo of attacks.

At this point there occurred a moment in gaming history.

Hayes was used to the elite insulting his underlings with the occasional random outburst. What Hayes wasn't used to was Seth losing. The blond squinted in disbelief, then glanced away from the screen to check if his immediate supervisor was dead.

Just as planed, Vulpes feel off the stage, but he came back up with a series of attacks that made it difficult. he tossed up a shield and then grabbed the other character tossing him off the stage. he ignored the elite's yelling, he was becoming used to it. He was too focused on the game to realize that he was not yelling because he lost, but because of something under the couch.

"Argh.." Seth growled as a tongue slurped his fingers. But then he felt something soft and quickly dragged it out.

It was a sock.

One of the elite's, actually, a bit chewed and damp.

Nemerle stared at him, ears angled back.

Zach didn't realize that Seth had stopped to deal with other issues until after he had knocked him out once, when he looked over at Seth, he saw him pull a sock from under the couch.

Why is he pulling socks out of the couch? How did a sock even get under there?

He decides that the best thing to do was to pause the game, beating up people who weren't even playing was pointless and proved nothing in terms of relative skill.

Suddenly the game stopped and he looked up. Seth was bent over, looking under the couch. It took him a moment of resistance to not reach over and push, it was a good thing Hayes was between them, cause he probably would have wound up in the brig, or worst. "What's up?... sir?"
