When she saw him look away from her she grinned toothily, rolling over onto her side and thumping her tail against the ground. Hrm, so maybe he'd be a bit hard to get.... Or was he not interested in her? This thought distressed her quite a bit, but she decided to ignore it. "Oh yes, I am. But what about you?" She asks curiously, tossing her head slightly to the side and looking at him again out of the corner of her eye.

He blinked, taken by surprise by her question. "...Me?"he echoed, and tilted his head, genuinely confused as to what she was inquiring. "....Am I happy, do you mean? Of course I am." He remained sitting in a sentinel-like position, back straight and senses on the alert, at attention, perhaps a bit stiff. "I am well-provided for here."

Taiyou tilts her head a little at this, then scoots herself closer to him and playfully paws at his forelegs. "Yes, but do you get enough attention?" She asks with a sly smile, her tail wagging slightly back and forth. She could tell by his posture he wasn't very interested, but now she was genuinely curious if she could get him to do something.

His brow quirked, baffled but slowly realizing what she meant, and now he was finding himself unable to ignore it. A slight trembling in his legs gave away his uneasiness, but perhaps she would misinterpret it as excitement...perhaps. "I receive the attention that I deserve," he replied, cautiously. He looked around nervously, again ascertaining that they were alone.

She notices the trembling and gets even closer. until she's practically on top of him. Sure, she might be a warrior, but that didn't mean she couldn't have some fun in awhile. "Is it usually like this?" She asks curiously, now verbally prodding him to see how much she could get from him. He was so tense and she was hoping to get him to loosen up. She figured if another female happened to stroll by she could pass this off on her taking a break and using him as a bed to rest on. or something of that sort.

"Not...as a matter of course," he replied, and allowed her touch, his soft eyes sweeping over her. He did not return any affection but did not pull away; he could invite no attention that was beyond his place. He wanted it to be quite clear that he acted only on her orders, no more, no less. "But then, you are quite...unique...among the sisters."

"How so?" She asks, shifting herself even closer to him. She was still on her side, and would wiggle slightly every once in awhile to get his attention. Being flirtatious was not one of her strong suits but she sure was trying. She paused then for a minute wondering if she was putting him off with her snuggling. She really, REALLY needed the comfort though. Despite her seemingly carefree attitude, she was still adjusting to this new lifestyle. She'd been alone for a long time and now she craved attention of any kind.

"There is a....softness to you," he said, hesitantly, and -- with another furtive glance around them to assure their solitude -- he laid beside her, his chest to her back, allowing his tail to lay across her flank. "It is really quite singular, the kindness you bestow to even a slave."

Taiyou couldn't help but murr happily when he finally relaxed enough to lay down next to her. She reached up with her head and rubbed it against his neck, noting his own softness. "You really think so? I don't see why a slave couldn't get some kindness every once in awhile. Besides, it's not like I'm disliking it myself." She chuckles, pulling her head back to look at him again. She decided she really did like the color of his pelt, and the way his eyes sparkled when he looked at something...

"I just entreat of you," he said, speaking boldly but quietly, "For the safety of us both....to practice discretion within the pack. Your kindness could well be interpreted as weakness, and I could not live with myself if I were responsible for any trouble on your behalf."

Taiyou pauses at this, her ears flattening. She looks away from him and tenses slightly, thinking more fully about this. "I...suppose you're right. I'll try and be careful...." She says, wondering if this is what had been bothering him. She did like her place in the Pack and didn't want to get him in trouble for her own antics. She sighs, but doesn't move from her position, looking a little forlorn as she imagined how much trouble they'd get in if they were caught.

He lifted his head, gazing narrow-eyed at the sky, calculating some things in his head. After a moment, he nodded to himself, and heaved a sigh; truth be told, he was almost beginning to enjoy himself. It had been a long while since he had last felt the touch of another, also, although her touch had been different....more demanding, but without that same air of quiet desperation, of neediness. He was warming to Taiyou quickly, though it felt like a blasphemy to the memory of his mistress to say it. "The shadows grow long," he said, and nuzzled her shoulder in a friendly way before rising to his paws, "and there is much work yet to be done, I'm afraid. I had best be taking my leave of you for now." He smiled, and there was kindness alight in his eyes. "It has been a pleasure, Taiyou. Another time, to be sure."

Taiyou had been close to dozing again when he got up. She blinks and sits up herself, looking a little sheepish as he spoke. She curled her tail around her paws and nodded, feeling a new lightness in her heart that hadn't been there before. She thought she might have a friend in this male wolf, which both excited and worried her. She'd finally have someone to talk to, but she'd be endangering him...
She shook her head slightly to clear the jumbled thoughts that had gathered there. She'd just have to be careful around him was all. She looked up at the sky too, checking the time before standing and stretching. She made a content sound and nuzzled him right back, wagging her tail slightly. "It was my pleasure as well. I hope we can do this again sometime." She says, giving him that flirty sideways look glance again. This time it seemed more playful than serious though. "I have hunting duty soon." She states, fluffing her fur up and grinning.

He gave her a respectful dip of the maw, his eyes glimmering with a smile, and backed away from her with a bow as he headed back towards the dens to tend to any cleaning or pest-control activities that would require him before he settled in for the evening.
Something had changed today, he thought; something that, as alien as it was to him, felt good.
