As the creature dove at her again, she swam deeper under the large pond, moving down the length of it. She was getting soggy and uncomfortable, but unless it joined her in the water, or she managed to smack it, there was no way she could risk the delay of hauling herself out of the water.

Icarus swam to the surface of the water. It was too dark for him... To much stirred-up up muck and not enough sunlight filtering down through the water. It seemed like the skull-kid had gotten away from him for now. He evaporated over to the bank of the pond, deciding on sitting there and waiting.

Amara noticed that the creature had left her alone for a while, the pond empty of ripples. She surfaced and saw it sitting there, watching. Chancing it, she pulled herself out of the water and shook herself off, watching the creature for its next move.
((There you go xD Battle can resume? ;P))

(( Heh. ty ;D
Now... Viable excuse consistent to character to continue fight... @__@ ))
"Too murky down there," Icarus explained, holding his lantern close to him as the mushroom-child shook herself off. He eventually made the lantern evaporate and got up. "I don't know what you are, but I think you're weird for liking mushrooms so much. Enough to make me breathe mushroom spores for picking one." Pushing off the ground, he propelled himself across the water in the air straight towards the skull-child for another tackle, evaporating at the last moment and coming from another direction insead a moment later.

Amara was tackled and she fell into the mossy ground, hurting herself again. She was beginning to hate this creature, and her mushrooms changed to reflect that. If it inhaled, it would feel a burning sensation from the new spores. She grimaced and dug in the ground beneath her, looking for another fungi weapon.
HP: 60/100. Jeeze, these battles are long @_@

"You're not fighting me," Icarus stated, materializing his lantern in one hand while watching the mushroom-kid dig. He didn't understand what digging a hole was accomplishing... Darting in close, he swung the lantern in a wide arc at the skull-child.

"Mmm, you're so observant," Amara retorted, her voice positively dripping venom. It hit her with its lantern again and she hissed as it collided with her, swiping up at it with her dirt-crusted nails. In her other hand, she clutched a fat grub, which she threw at it after she swiped. Kind of a one-two for the weird little forest child.

Icarus managed to avoid the slash by backing up, but quickly found himself with (ooey-gooey) grub guts splattered on him. "Thanks. That's gross," Icarus said, wiping some off and looking at his hand. "Why don't you just fight me?" he asked, throwing another shot at the skull child with his lantern.

"Why would I do that? I'm patient. I have time. Mmm, even if you keep fighting me until the end, the forest will protect me." Amara spoke with complete confidence in her home. Even if she got hurt, or fainted, the forest would never leave her defenseless. In the mean time, what would she fight with? She didn't fight, wasn't a fighter; mostly, she slept and scavenged and listened to the music through the trees.
Lately, she'd been finding more and more reasons not to leave the forest at all. This would have to be added to the list. She hoped she never saw Basil again, for one.
Amara picked up a fallen branch and held it out, swinging it in a sideways arc to aim for the creature's side.

Icarus evaporated before impact, reappearing two feet back from where he was a moment before. "There we go," Icarus said, throwing a small grin at the mushroom-child. "I'll still win even if the forest decides to fight on your side though."
Rushing forwards all at once, Icarus swung his lantern vertically up for a hit to the body or jaw.

"Mmm, a win isn't a win, if the forest and its people know what you've done." Amara darted away to avoid the swing, thinking of Lament's promise of sad and smooth music the day she grew. If this was what life would be like in the outside world, if creatures like this and Basil were all that lived there, why would she ever want to leave her leafy home? Never again.
Amara made a promise to herself then, one she expected to uphold. Never again would she venture close to the edge of the forest, nor leave it.
Again, she scampered into the trees. If anything did damage now, it would most likely be the after-effect of her spores. Perhaps she would change her mind, but she didn't feel much like fighting just then.
