This whole thing was starting to pet him the wrong way more and more. It was hard enough being around this man that made the air around him harder to breath, thick with a sort of electricity that made him feel jumpy, but the wizard was also playing games with them. It was like they were being talked down to, treated like children, and while the man was older than they were, it didn’t settle right with him to be handled like he was a kindergartner needing to be taught the ABCs of Senshis. He fought more than enough to know a thing or two, even as a Lieutenant. The talk of candy made him watch the starseeds and he wondered, briefly, if Wiseman had been waiting for them to show up to give them all starseeds. Either he was prepared, or he was just having fun, and he didn’t know which one was better or worse. The fact still remained that he wanted to tell them something about the princess they were after, and while he didn’t like the idea of them all barking like dogs for scraps, it was clear they didn’t know as much as they should. This was there mission, and if the Captain was taking the opportunity to get closer to her goal and get whatever edge they needed from whatever source, then who was he to argue?

While he didn’t want a starseed, finding the “candy” the man was offering as unappealing as butterscotch (and he hated butterscotch), he did want to contribute in gaining information. Too bad for him that he knew less about Opal Crystals than Linarite did, and if it wasn’t a starseed, he had no idea what else it could be.

Well, if this was like class and you didn’t know, what was your second option?

Reluctantly and feeling a bit ridiculous in the process, he rose his hand slightly. “I’m just going to go for this and ask. Will you just tell us more about the Opal Crystal and what it is?” The man literally seemed like he was dying to tell them, and if he could say he wasn’t for all the frills of playing the polite game, why should they play the guessing game? Made sense to him at least, and if Wiseman hadn’t killed Scheelite for the glowstick, he felt he could at least test his luck with a simple question. He just hoped it didn’t set the ticking time bomb off.

"If you don't mind a speculative interjection..." Zink said with a moments hesitation and put his arm decisively on Schee's arm.

Didn't appreciate him... humph... really.

"It.. um..." he glanced at Lina for approval to and then straitened his spine trying to look more confidant than he actually felt about guessing.
"If it's not her star-seed, then... perhaps it has to do with her rank as 'Princess'?, but... if that were the only criteria, surely a senshi who's warranted a promotion would have the starts of such an item, is it...something like a 'scepter'? She's the 'Zodiac princess' and..."

He shook his head unsure and let his hand drop off Dem's arm to fold them across his chest again frowning in thought.

"Wolfram is right...I have no idea either."

Scheelite was thinking. Scheelite was thinking hard. You could tell by the way his hand was at his chin and the fact he was silent as he concentrated. It wasn't a star seed...and the others (even Zink! oh noes!) had given up and just asked. But he had to guess, he just had to. Afterall, he was still holding onto the promise of 'candy'.

Even if it appeared to just be star seeds.

Luckily before smoke started pouring out of his ears the boy piped up his well-thought out answer.
"Wouldn't it be friggin awesome if it was an actual -star- or something? I mean like, if the little crystal-things are star seeds then maybe a bigger, more awesome crystal was an actual star. That'd be badass."
He was grinning. This was -clearly- an excellent and well thought out answer. Zink would simply have to be proud of his reasoning.

The wizard yawned. It sounded like a real yawn, though it very well might not've been: he seemed like the kind of person who'd fabricate a yawn just to sound minutely more bored. "Good enough," he said, and tossed a piece of starseed 'candy' each to each of the Lieutenants who'd spoken up: then an extra to Scheelite, as an afterthought.

"They don't brief you too much at your -- meetings, do they? Sessions. Summits. Councils. Gatherings. Town halls. Meetings," he concluded again. "Oh well. That's a pity. Crying shame. Tearing up my heart." He made the gesture of a phantom tear streaking down his cheek with one finger. "The Opal Crystal is the Great Crystal belonging to Princess Chronos as the ruler of her realm, whatever shitty and far-flung realm she might have. They tend to get passed down through royals. Sovereigns have 'em. Very much not their starseeds," he said, "otherwise Princess Chronos wouldn't still be walking around after I took hers, would she?"

This guy sure did like to hear himself speak. A walking thesaurus with a nice voice. (Yes, he admitted it was nice. Dreamy even? Well, he wouldn't admit that.) While it might have been fun for Wiseman, who was use to his own aura, Wolframite just wanted to get what they needed and leave for some clearer, less electrified air that didn’t make him feel that he was constantly suffering from the shivers every 5 minutes. Whatever this man was giving off, be it power or something darker, it wasn’t working any wonders on how he felt. It was like suffering through toxic gas in order to grab classified records.

What they were getting seemed well worth the heebie-jeebies, and he listened as Wiseman boasted at getting the Crystal from the princess. Was this what he really wanted to show off in the end? Probably. “You stole her crystal?” Well, he had said that. “So …it must be powerful or very useful?” It was the only reason anyone stole anything, especially from a Zodiac, which were said to be pretty powerful on their own. Which meant that, as if Wolframite hasn’t doubted this, Wiseman was in turn.

Since it wasn’t her starseed, that meant the princess was still alive, and since it was their mission to kill her, then they at least still had a job. Wolframite looked at the starseed he held, knowing that chucking the thing back would really piss off the other man, and instead pocketed it. “We’re looking for Chronos. Do you know where she usually hangs around?” Or maybe he should be asking more about the crystal? Then again, who knew how long Wiseman would like to hear himself talk before he got too bored with them and left. It was better to get what they needed now.

"Try Candyland," said the wizard. "I hear she hangs with Queen Frostine on Gum Drop Mountain, but that just might be hearsay."

So apparently he was done being helpful.

The dizzying effect of his aura was building up more and more of a migraine in all of their heads. Wiseman looked unaware or uninterested in that, though it was hard to imagine how someone could get a headache off his own aura anyway; as they watched he picked up a Tetris block of starseeds in one hand and deposited them safely in the air. In a second he bored of this and they scattered onto the ground in numerous metallic pieces. He ran a hand through his brown hair. Of all the hair colors a wizard could have, brown seemed like a particularly ordinary one, but it matched the rest of him.

"I dunno. She goes a-walkabout around a lot of places -- I'd try the schools if I were you." He crossed his legs at the knee. "I reckon it must be important, otherwise they wouldn't've got so het up when I up and took it. Aside from that, beats me. I guess I'll pawn it off. Any of you know any good fences?"

It was starting to beg the somewhat horrible question -- had he come here to tell them things after all? Who, precisely, was giving who the information?

Scheelite looked absolutely delighted to have been given extra 'candy'. Currently he was giggling happily to himself and examining his presents from the wizard. At least, until the migraine really started to hit him. That was just making him look confused, which while that was nothing new to this particular lieutenant it was at least a change of pace from his giddiness.

Still! Despite the rather awful headache he didn't see much of a reason to go running for the hills. This Wiseman fellow seemed pretty friendly, why not continue the conversation? Scheelite wasn't picking up on the slight changes in tone and helpfulness, but he wasn't exactly the brightest lieutenant either. Unless one simply counted the glowsticks.

"Well...if you don't want it, can I have it? Is it shiny?"
The idea of some super special shiny crystal seemed to delight the young Negaverser. Besides, if the crystal was so important to their target, then maybe having it would flush her out into the open? It seemed like a good idea!

Zink stifled an laugh and tried to go back to his serious face but couldn't quite keep it after Scheelite's last request, even with the headache, which seemed to be a hint to leave in his opinion. Information exchanged, power displayed...and so on.

He'd be scraping to put down information into his journal about this encounter... no, more accurately he'd be struggling to make sense of it, to determine with even a shred of accuracy anything about the events.

He glanced at Linarite, questioning... tactical retreat he thought and hoped for once it showed in his face.

It was becoming more and more unbearable to be around this man, and he felt his head throbbing, feeling as if the pressure was collecting particles of pain around the bridge of his nose, right between the eyes, and then exploding in bright, burning fireworks. It weakened him at the knees, and he felt hard of breath. It was like supernatural radiation and he wanted to either get away or find himself a protective shield. Unable to ask the others, he had no way to know if they all felt like this, and instead to keep his focus and continue to stay for as long as they needed to stay, which didn’t seem to be very long.

Wiseman was growing bored, and he gave up on tossing treats for whatever reason he was stringing them along, and was now looking ready to leave. Whatever information was being given out, they even missed their chance and had frustrated the phantom, or he only wanted to give out little morsels for them to pick at and figure out on their own.

He looked down at the starseeds scattered on the ground, human lives in each one that were taken for what? A show of power? What a waste. Wiseman was making some point, and he didn’t know what. While Wiseman was giving him the aura of pure power, their side was looking more and more like clueless children, and Scheelite, for as much as he was his teammate, was not helping their image any. How could he be this hyper when Wolframite was having a spitting headache?! Ugh! His voice was like daggers to the ears!!!

“If you don’t know, why did you take it? And if you asking if anyone might want it, and it seems like a bother to you, then I’m sure we could take it off your hands.” He wasn’t about to say they could make a deal. For all he knew, Wiseman wanted something for the Negaverse, and as he wasn’t a Captain and didn’t now what the royal duo wanted, he couldn’t make that decision. He would, however, take it if it was given to them. Still, if Wiseman went through all the trouble, what was he trying to do now by asking them if anyone was interested?
PostPosted: Tue May 04, 2010 5:27 pm

He was always hyper, just ask one long suffering partner Zinkenite. When he was not hyper, something was terribly wrong.
"Excuseeeeeee -me- Wolfy, but I think I said something about wanting it first. Stop trying to ride my coattails man, even though they're awesome. I don't really appreciate it, sheesh."

That...had sounded like an actual snap. It seemed like Scheelite had a lot more bite than he usually let on. Maybe the headache really -was- getting to him? To Wiseman though, the lieutenant was all smiles, even if by now his eyes were starting to twitch. This really -was- unpleasant, but running away would be so rude. He didn't want to be rude, 'Mr. Wiseman' had been so kind to them. Free star seeds, a bit of information, really it hadn't been that bad of a night!

Besides the floor littered with bodies and the migraine from hell.

Wolframite blinked at Scheelite a few times before he raised his hands up in clear defense. “I meant ‘we’, as in the Negaverse. You’re free to take it if he lets you. Don’t let me get in your way.” He looked at Z a moment, wondering what was up with his partner, and then back at Schee. Did the bouncy blonde just get snippy with him? He wasn’t trying to compete with a fellow teammate, and wait, who the hell was he to even start saying he could take a crystal?! It was like he was going to hoard it for himself! What sort of teamwork was that? Ah, but Linarite was here and he was sure whatever was done or said was already being watched. He just let it pass, and instead touched his brow slightly, feeling like he needed to find a place to sit down. Wiseman had the only chair and the ground only would give him a nice view of a lot of dead bodies.

Instead, he crossed his hands across his chest, a bit miffed he was barked at in front of everyone, and by Scheelite no less! Someone needed to go take a nap.
