Sera laughed. Actually, she laughed hard. Then, wiping a tear, she looked at Ruby again, "Do you really think that just anyone would attempt to get in my way? I don't think you realize my position here. I'm not boasting, but being one of the most powerful demons beside our Demon King himself does tend to have its advantages. If you stay in my home, you would have your own room and be free to wander the estate except for my study. The estate has spells written onto my myself so no one aside from maybe the monarch would be able to break through them." She took a drink of her tea and then said, "And in return for staying at my home, for an income you could either work for as a bodyguard of sorts--mainly a ceremonial position--or a guard of the estate." She waited for Ruby's reply.

Forest had reached the eastern edge of Arcadia, usually, anyone that looked like he did, with a raggedy black shirt and some very well used jeans, wouldn't have been able to get this far in to this wealthy of a community. Not without being questioned. But for him, looks weren't an issue. Squirrels, with their innocent looking fluffy tails and curious twitches went unnoticed even here. The squirrel twitching about on a park bench, who infact, wasn't a squirrel at all, presently stared out into the great Kuroi-Hoshi Lake.
Forest still didn't know how he would find this Sera, or why he was even trying, it was most likely she'd just turn him away, if she even cared enough to tell him.
As of now, all he could do was wait until an opportunity arose to find her, hoping that his intuition was right about her living around here. As he waited, staring into the great lake, he caught a fish jumping up to get a bug, and randomely wondered what it would be like to breathe underwater, realizing he'd never been a fish before.

Sera smiled at Ruby kindly. For a moment, her demonic face of stone slipped and revealed her true feelings of relief and gratitude aimed towards the girl. She was silent for a moment before responding, looking off at the gates of the other wealthy estates beside hers. Then, almost inaudibly, she said to Ruby, "I guess I just really need a companion. I've spent twenty centuries alone... I guess I just wish for it to stop." The pain was evident in her voice as she looked away, her face shadowed. She approached the familiar gate. "Here we are," she said, turning to look at her front gate. The bars were iron all along the wall that faced the street they were on. The stone columns on each side of the driveway were aged and ancient. But the iron gate itself was an intricate source of art; the masterpiece of an Angelic artist that she had met years ago. Beyond the gate was green, lush grass and healthy, leafy trees. The driveway went beyond where they could see for now.

Imagine the face of absolute shock, now imagine it on a little squirrel's face. This is what Forest looked like when he saw the gate that the two Women stopped at. It was absolutely stunning. Forest had come from a pretty wealthy family himself, his father held a powerful position in office, his mom, being the head scientest of the Pan's Special Labs, made a hefty salary herself. They had a pretty nice house, and social status among the shape shifters. Both his parents had come from a long line of well known shape shifters, but looking at the house again, Sera must have been royalty. It was gorgeous.
Forest observed both girls, still admiring the house. The fox girl named Ruby seemed to hesitate, then her ears twitched, as if she'd sensed something. It seemed as if she infact knew of his prescence. Forest hadn't really thought of what he was going to do when or if they found out he was following them, or if he should present himself. He decided to atleast hold off until they went inside, hoping she didn't have any guards posted around that would cause trouble for him.

(well this raven hwkins should be another character XD XD )

Sera grinned as they approached her house. "Well, then I think you two will get along just fine since he's a werebird, after all." She stopped and looked up at her home. It was a Victorian-styled house with the grand front porch and a cream and chocolate brown color coordination that had yellowed over the long years. It was almost like a miniature castle with vines covering the walls nearly completely and the towers in each corner of the house. The windows were all a bit dusty and the shades inside were lacy and old-fashioned. She looked up at the nearest tower with the highest window being a small, circular window looking out on the drive. "Ruby, the tower in the farther right corner is yours. It opens out onto the back porch with leads to a courtyard that can reach all four of the gardens here. I don't want you to feel like you're trapped here." Sera said.
(haha don't worry. i just added him. and he's my character after all... his posts will just be dark blue. biggrin )

Sera smiled at Ruby. "It's no trouble. Since you're working for your shelter, you don't owe me anything." She opened the door and let her in. The entire interior was like something out of a movie with its classical theme and items that looked old simply because they were. "You can go anywhere. I was actually going to ask you if you wanted to look around for a bit. I need to see some things in my study for a while. I'll be back by dinner, so just hang out until then, okay?" she said with a kind smile. Sera went upstairs and entered her study and began to delve into the shape-shifter records that she owned.
