As they walked in, Ellie rebutted with a simple "I've got plenty of projects t'work on at home." Car repair, motorcycle touch ups, and then there was the other business she hated to tend to called "Sailor Scout patrol." The blonde was never in need of extra activities.
It didn't go unnoticed that there was new company as they popped into another line. For a brief moment, the high schooler couldn't help but wonder if this was going to be a night of never ending lines. It felt like something straight out of a cartoon, where you stood in line for a "ride," and found out at the end that the line was for the "line ride." At least there seemed to be some sort of end to this line.
It was about this time that Hobbes' friend interjected with a compliment. In greeting, she offered a fist, bumping it forward for a "proper" Ellie Spectre greeting.
"Thank ya," was all she said in reply.

Shawn was all the more merry to return the fist bump to Ellie, it was enough she even responded (even after his initial reaction to him) but had offered the new hand shake to boot. Yes, Ellie was winning in kudo and cool points in the plump man's book, "I like her," he pointed to Ellie with him thumb, addressing Sheldon as the line was beginning to thin.
Sheldon simply made a noise of acknowledgment to his neighbor's statement, his head giving a slight nod as well. The blonde was on his short list of tolerable people by now too, but he wasn't really intending anything to go further. This was his second meeting of Ellie after all. So Sheldon fell into silence again with hands thrust into his pockets, waiting his turn to get the game and go.
"Bah," Shawn waved of Sheldon in dismissal and turned all attentions back the female, "I'm Shawn... I'm sure he didn't mention that. Nor your name, you are?" And would we be seeing more of you, or could we? Was the underlying tone hidden in that introduction.
Two people now gone and the counter was in sight. The tired game store girl held out her hand for Ellie's receipt, the game in her other to make the switch as smooth and quick as possible (the sooner the nerds were gone, the sooner she could go home and sleep).

There wasn't enough time to really do the proper introduction. She was already being tended to by the employee, so she held up one finger at Sheldon's neighbor to signal "one moment" while she reached to her back pocket to pull out her wallet. She pulled out a slightly worn out slip of paper and slid it across the counter. The girl assisting her was obviously tired, and without any thought of it, the blonde mentioned "Take it ya need a coffee, eh?" Ellie laughed, not even seeming to care about whether or not the girl was offended.
Her total was announced in a less than enthusiastic fashion, the tomboy pulled out the proper amount of greens, and the transaction was complete.
Having apparently conquered this whole ordeal, the tomboy moved on over to the side, as if to wait for Hobbes for a bit. Despite having given the round guy a fist bump earlier, she couldn't handle not giving a proper and firm handshake (ow, that actually kinda hurt) with her introduction.
"Go by Ellie Spectre. Ellie, or Spectre. Nothin' else." When she released his hand, she also pointed out the flaw in his logic from earlier.
"Last I checked, Hobbes shouldn't 'ave t'introduce ya. Ain't his responsibility. Ya got balls, ain'tcha?"

"A comfy pillow sounds better," the cashier mumbled under her breath as she completed Ellie's transaction and handed her the game. She eyed the girl as she shuffled to the side, pleased that no more 'pleasantries' were going to be exchanged for the evening and held out her open palm indicating she was ready for whoever was next.
Sheldon made it to the counter at a less than stellar pace, making her head lull to the side, but his receipt was at least at the ready and game already fully paid for. The exchange of paper and game was made wordlessly besides a quiet 'thanks' from Sheldon as he too moved to the side to join his two companions.
"Oh, I've got plenty of balls." Shawn replied with a cheeky grin, earning a puzzled look from Sheldon who had just joined the conversation. "I just think it's polite for my friend to introduce me to his friends, that's all." He explained, giving Sheldon a big ol' pat on the back which almost made Sheldon's lean frame almost topple over.

"Friends, eh?" Ellie blinked at the label.
"Hobbes is cool an' all... but I've only met him 2 times. Hardly think that's worthy of bein' called 'friends.'" The girl let out a bit of a hearty laugh as she grinned from ear to ear.
For a moment, she glanced back to some of the employees in shop, who were starting to give them the stink eye for lingering around in the shop so long. Figuring the jog home would be a decently long one, the girl turned back to the two boys.
"Well, it was nice seein' ya again, Hobbes! And nice t'meetcha, Shawn!" Each was offered a fist in departure, and only once she got two bumps, she literally ran to the door, pushed it open, and continued running. Ellie had more energy at midnight than some people had all day.
Go figure.

Sheldon was sharing the same sentiments as Ellie and was staring at the pair boredly because of it, while Shawn was a little flabbergasted, "you guys seemed so chummy outside." And in his mind, just because you had only met so many times didn't mean you weren't friends, right? He got no response and Ellie was already out the door after exchanging her goodbyes. Sheldon offered her a short wave as she retreated into the night.
The green haired teen glanced at his acquaintance while he too made a move to exit the building, watching him mull over ... something. Shawn was deep in thought, not paying attention even with the leering from the staff, so Sheldon hit him on the shoulder. "Don't take it too hard." Sheldon told him, "I don't even consider you my friend." He said nonchalant as he finally exited the store, leaving Shawn appalled.
"WHAT?"
