There was neither time nor much of a reason to exchange more words before Deidren took off again, so Xaivary just went with it and took off herself. They had a little time, at least, before it got late enough in the morning for the larger Soquili population to start being out and about. She intended to soak up every moment of it.

She ran and ran, listening to the music of the run singing through her body, exhilaration pulsing with her heart. Ran until her legs started burning, and then a bit more, before she finally acknowledged it was time to stop. She slowed a bit, keeping herself at a brisk walk so she could cool down properly, and took a look around. She thought she saw some others approaching their general vicinity off in the distance. They hadn't really been noticed yet, but that would change soon.

Xaivary didn't particularly feel like dealing with a bunch of people right now, and she doubted Deidren would either after their earlier conversation. She turned and kicked up her pace again to catch up to him, trying to steer him back toward the trees a bit. "Others heading this way, you wanna try to stick around for a while or go ahead and clear out before they can bug us?"

The dark stallion was vaguely aware when Xaivary joined in the run, but the longer he moved the harder it was for him to remember that she was around. It wasn't surprising that he failed to notice the absence of her hoof-steps ringing out in the not so distant distance. He had barely even noticed that the sound of his own were beginning to take on a slower rhythm. He finally figured both things out as his ears twitched at the reintroduction of the mare's quickening hooves.

He turned his head slightly to watch her approach before frowning at her news. "They would have t'show up just to ruin the fun." He muttered in such a way that it was impossible to tell if he was joking or completely serious. "I'm gettin a bit bored of this anyway." He always seemed to feel the need to make excuses but without any real resistance he allowed himself to be led towards the trees. Really he had been enjoying himself even if his legs were starting to ache. He just hated dealing with others so much more than he liked running about like a young colt.

Once the trees were closer he began to slow his pace to a brisk trot. He took in a deep breath then let it out in an exasperated sound as he glanced back at the plains. "I'd say we should do this again...but there's no way in hell I want to get up this early again and no one wants to deal with those party poopers." It was strange, though, even though he'd been up long before he ever wanted to he didn't really feel tired in the slightest bit.

Joking or serious, Xaivary could empathize with the sentiment either way. While the reality of the situation was that the encroaching group probably had no idea they were even there, at times like this it often felt as though they did show up just to spite some fun or other she was having. If she was on her own she might have been inclined to wait until they were closer and see if she could gauge whether she could maintain her jaunt a while longer. With Deidren accompanying her, however, she found she wasn't in the mood to risk a potentially sour or irritating confrontation. Best to just leave while the getting was good under the circumstances.

There was a pause, however briefly, in Xaivary's hoofsteps after Deidren mentioned running together again sometime. She didn't have play-companions very often, and when she did there'd never really been mention of a potential "next time". She had a couple of buddies, sure, and she tried to run into them on a semi-frequent basis, but plans or even mentioning of "next time" simply... hadn't occurred. She couldn't have said why the actual happening of it struck her so oddly, but it did.

"Well if you're not up for early, you could try staying up a little later. Most folks don't tend to stay up after sunset." For now she wasn't going to ask about it. Idle as his statement had been she doubted there was any real thought behind it, so there wouldn't really be any point.

The blissful ignorance that seemed to encompass his mind when he ran had faded away. Without it he was back to his more attentive self that bordered on paranoia at times. When she paused his ears twitched and it wasn't long before he turned his head over his shoulder to give her a weird look. Had she noticed something out of place that he had missed?

It didn't really sound like it since she was continuing the conversation like normal.

"Buncha chickens ain't they?" he quipped with a smirk tugging at half of his lips. Sometimes he found himself very amusing. Now was one of those times even though he could understand not wanting to be out in the dark. He himself wasn't very fond of hanging around in the open at night, his nerves never seemed to calm at those times. However, he had always been alone then. He wasn't really alone now. "I'm a regular owl," he continued, "I got no problems going out late if you don't." And since she had suggested it he got the distinct feeling that she didn't really mind either.

The shock was not so much this time, so Xaivary did not pause in her walk. It was simply an assumption on his part that she would stay, really. That he even wanted her to stick around that long was reason enough for her to stay, at least for a while. "Well if you're willing to put up with me for the whole day, you're on. Maybe I'll beat you in the next race." She grinned playfully at Deidren, picking up her pace a bit. Yeah... Xaivary had a feeling this was going to be a good day.

Deidren snorted and rolled his eyes at the mare. "Fat chance of that happenin." He countered with a smirk. If Malcolm could have seen him now the older stallion would have been shocked. For once in his life Deidren had seemed to manage to make a friend of sorts. As he grinned he was beginning to think that maybe life in these parts wouldn't be so bad after all. Things were finally beginning to look up.
