This was a terrible betrayal of Valeriu's trust, Seamus knew. The boy probably would refuse to take a call from him for weeks after this.
But Carnegies do as Carnegies will, and just because Seamus was mellower than his brother did not mean he did not raise his own sorts of hell on the blessed occasion. He dialed, waited, cheap speakers crackling towards the end of each ring.
Seamus was patient. He knew Valeriu had a sharp set of ears on him, and sooner or later the boy would realize that the ringing was his own phone, and come wandering over to answer it. He had a tendency of just leaving it on the counter rather than carrying it around with him, which was not how cell phones were meant to be used.
Click.
"Ah--hello?" Valeriu's voice sounded uncertain, and Seamus could so easily picture him holding the phone a foot away from his ear, as if it were infected.
"The screen, Prince," Seamus reminded him like any good, indulgent adult. "If you look at the screen before answering, it'll tell you if someone in your address book is calling." Vale definitely hadn't paid for Caller ID, he knew.
"Address book?"
"The place where you put your contacts' phone numbers."
"Da, da - but how does the phone get access to my address book?"
Seamus could hear pages flipping, and realized with a sinking feeling that Valeriu still used pen and paper to file his phone numbers.
"For the love of--"
"V'here are you, anyv'ay?" Kitty interrupted, abruptly remembering who exactly he was talking to. "You are avoiding me-"
"Yes, yes I am, but it's out of love and care and affection and an innate desire to make you die young out of worry." Seamus grinned, listening to the offended noises filtering through the speakers. "I'm at the safehouse, chillin' with Writ. We're totally talking about you behind your back."
The offended noises bumped up a notch.
"Seamus!"
"Yes?"
"You - you stay, right there! I'll be over in a few."
"'Kay," Seamus drawled good-naturedly, pausing and looking at the phone when he heard a clunk, footsteps, and then the sound of the door closing in the distance through the phone. He flipped his phone shut, shaking his head morosely. "Doesn't even know how to end a damn phone call."
They'd done wrong by that boy.

"Quick." Writ noted.
He pulled out a ten dollar bill out of his wallet and slapped it into Seamus' hand. Hopefully he won't lose it after this ordeal was over, the hand anyway. With his other hand, he pulled out his phone, and set it towards video recording mode.
"Guess you were right about him being around."

"Always am," Seamus acknowledged sincerely, pocketing the bribery money as he checked his watch. "But I gotta split. Gotta be gone by the time Kitty arrives, you understand."
Seamus fully intended to leave Writ to Vale's tender mercies, especially after the boy's high finally wore off.
"He'll be here in a few. Don't have too much fun," Seamus warned.

"Who do I look like, Quinn?" Writ shrugged, "I prefer my fun time with the opposite sex, and I know you know what I mean."
Writ waved Seamus farewell, and waited for Vale to arrive.
