(I give a lot of credit to Splungent Floob, Kouketsu-San, and Flynn_MacCallister for being so active in this guild. Just though I'd let ya know. Of course I'll be a guest here.))

Son of a sickly duke, Duncan Gurney enjoyed parties very much. It helped, being given an excuse to drink and mingle with the beautiful women he met. Outside of parties his life wasn't too great, and it felt great to share a laugh with people he didn't know while sipping at his wine.
He was't drunk, but just a bit tipsy, as he introduced himself to a young lady who'd seemingly just dumped a fancy looking man.

Sparrow laughed quietly to himself as he heard lady Lavella walk swiftly off. The few weeks he had known her she had become much like his daughter - Sparrow had no children or his own, nor a lady of his own. He didn't care much for a wife, however, for he preffered to depend on himself. Although, he had to admit, the company of the little lady was enjoyable and she did seem to care about him. It was also a lot easier to walk around when someone was watching for steps and holes.

Turning his attention back to the task in hand, Sparrow concentrated and tried to discern where this queen would be. He took slow steps forward, moving confidently through the dancers. Many moved out of his way and others just gave him a slightly odd look. Sparrow didn't notice, merely stepping carefully forward in a straight line, his ears forever listening.

((Damn... I think I might have forgotten the name of the character I'm playing as in this RP... better go back and check... ^^;;;

And, thankyou Alex. I'm quite flattered. ^____^ ))

Lucille surveyed the room, looking over Zach's shoulder. No sign yet, but she had spotted one of her colleagues. She knew him, and she kne his skills were formiddable.

This was going to be one fun night.

She did, however, pity this young man who was to be caught up in the midst of everything... it was somewhat unfair. He had seen his fair share of battles. This would not be a battle.

Ren takes the time to survey the room, trying to find out who might be an assassin and keep an eye on them. A quick look later and Ren only sees two that he thinks might be potential enemies. Quickly getting up from his seat, Ren masquerades around the ballroom once again to resume his guard duties as a hired assassin by the lords. What was sad about his watch was the fact that he thinks the young lady dancing with the warlord might be more than she seems to be.

Zach smiled lightly at her as the song ended. He murmured, "Well. It was nice dancing with you. I think I should be off to check. I'm expecting someone, you see." He said, with a faint smile before looking quickly around the room to see if his "Guest" was here. But they weren't. He smield at her and began to walk away, though feeling as if something had been wrong with her though past few moments.

Sparrow walked straight into the retreating Zach, almost purposely for he appeared out of nowhere. He made a small 'oof' noise and feigned a stagger backwards quite well, although if he hadn't had moved backwards it would have been Zach on the floor. He took a small breath and steadied himself.

"Terribly sorry..." he mumbled respectfully, bowing in the general direction of Zach, although deliberately turning half a metre off.

Zach jumped back a little, then smiled, "IT's okay. One too many drinks, eh?" He said, before continuing to walk away, over to the buffet counter.

Lucille left the dance-floor, standing in a space between the chatting groups around the tables and the dancing couples on the floor. She was somewhat stung by Zach's rejection, but knew there were more important things to be done tonight. She surveyed the room, trying again to pick out the man she had spotted arriving during the dance. Her eyes were drawn to a minor commotion, as two men collided -- as fickle chance would have it, Zach, (who gave brief apologies -- or maybe a snide comment, she couldn't hear from here, and continued on his way), and the gentleman she sought. She made her way over to him.

Moving less quietly than she would have liked in all those skirts and petticoats, she made her way over to him, picking her way between the densely bunched groups of people.

Sparrow hid a small smile as he heard the man walk away, and he turned his attention once more to the task at hand. Although it would be rather hard in his present state. He listened carefully and discerned a skirt brushing along the ground without a set of footfalls. He knew this would be a rather silly thought, and quickly labelled it as a colleague - a female one at that, unless it was a cross-dresser.

Appearing out of the throng beside him, she quietly adressed him, "Sparrow. Or maybe it should be Lord Raistin this evening?" she took his arm, in a fashion that would suggest leading him rather than accompanying him, even though she knew this to be utterly unneccessary.

Sparrow smiled slightly at her appearance, "Ah. Miss Lucille - I thought you'd be here this evening." he murmured quietly, walking alongside her.

"I appear to be a tad lost. Would be so kind as to direct me in the right direction?" he questioned, a hidden meaning mixed within his words, although his question seeming innocent enough to anyone that would have been listening in.

"I have not yet been informed, either, if that is what you mean. I've not yet had the chance to speak with His and Her Highness, what with Downey bustling and bumbling around, trying to find me a husband." Thinking of Downey, se glanced around, and quickly caught sight of him near the back of the hall, fully occupied with food and sherry, and earbashing some poor young man about God only knew what.

Sparrow chuckled lightly at her comment, "Downey - could hear him from a mile off." he stated in an off-hand way, hearing a slightly odd pair of footsteps briefly, but merely passing them off as someone who couldn't dance very well.

She laughed. "There isn't much that is subtle about him, I suppose." Smiling, she continued, "I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it were him we were hired for: I wouldn't put it past him to offend them with some misguided gift in keeping with some strange foreign custom. Getting him out of that one would take some very special negotiating tricks." She shook her head. "He is a very dear old man."

This would have been the last thing anyone would have expected to hear Lucille say, with her cruel face, cold eyes, and wicked reputation.

Sparrow frowned for the briefest part of a second before smiling lightly at her comments. He was itching to do something other than act a lord, lord Raislin to be precise - the real lord Raislin had been dead for three weeks, although no one had known as the poor man lived alone far off in the country. Not even his daughter, miss Lavella, knew of his death.

However, Sparrow cared not for any sentimental feelings, nor how it might have been morally wrong. He didn't really have any morals, he kept himself alive and that was that. So long as he got paid and could buy food and clothing, he was a happy man. Perhaps this was why he felt slightly bored, he hadn't been paid anything in advance and the night seemed to drag on.

He shook himself mentally, forcing the wish of money in his hands to the back of his mind. He didn't need anymore money, he had enough to keep him going until he was a hundred and three. What he needed was one final stunt to be remembered by. That was it. Once he had acomplished something worth being recorded in the history books under his name he was finished.

"Do you have any lifelong ambitions, miss Lucille?" he queried in a soft murmur, having realised that there had been quite a long silence between them.
