When Filante saw Corwin's liquid shinig eyes, he was almost caught off guard. Though Filante didn't like to admit it, he liked to collect shiny things. It was more of a girly hobby than anything and he would die of embarassment if anyone were to find out! But something about shinig. glittery things kept Filante happy. He caught himself about to touch corwin's eye! "A-Ah...!!! Ahm...um..." Filante withdrew his hand and smiled nervously, trying to flake off his strange action.

"Food recomendation? Well, I think you'd like something hot, since heat is your thing. this INN makes a wonderful corn chowder! Yes, yes, that is what you shall have with me! It warms you right up and is so creamy and yummy! I'll be right back!" Quickly stumbling to his feet, Filante went to the front desk to order and pay for their meal. He though to himself, Stupid boy! You were about to poke his eye out! keep your hands to yourself! Waiting for the woman to come back with their food, he rocked on his heels slightly.

Corwin tilted his head, confused when Filante stretched his hand out and then withdrew it. He ran his cold hand through his hair, smiling awkwardly, and played idly in the fire with his warm hand. He didn't really know what was up with Filante, so he busied himself with the flickering fire again, listening to Filante's food recommendation. Chowder? What was chowder? Corwin thought that sounded odd. He had only ever eaten popped corn kernels, when ...who was it? Roses, rain, blood; when the constellation who smelled of those three things showed him how to pop it with his heat. Corwin could control it perfectly. That was probably his only talent, after making so much popped corn.

Maybe corn chowder was equally delicious. Corwin was content waiting by the fire, but he felt strange, pulled between the fire and Filante, who stood rocking slightly on his heels. Filante and Etoile had something familiar between them, but the direction it had taken in Filante felt different; more pleasant. That was how Corwin felt, at least, in his clumsy way. Unable to express exactly what it was that drew him to Filante. Maybe it was the aura. Corwin smiled to himself, twisting a stray flame around his hand. One edge of the fire was burning less brightly; he supposed the flames were traveling across, where there was more to burn. He frowned and drew the fire to life where it was going out, coaxed it to burn. He felt immediately better, but when he went to brush his warm hand off on his skin, he smeared ash all over himself. None got around him, but he looked ridiculous.

Filante probably shouldn't have left him alone; Corwin sat there, trying to rub ash off his face with his cold hand, looking quite awkward as he waited for Filante to return with this... corn chowder business. Yum.

Soon enough, Filante was back by corwin's side, holding 2 small bowls of a light yellow liquid with...things in it. It loked just as weird as the food was called. "Here Corwin~" Just as Filante was about to hand him his bowl, Filante stopped part way. "Corwin, why are you all black!?" He almost jumped from the sight. "Oh goodness!! Are you one of the cursed!?" His voice squeaked a little, as if he was frightened. the cursed? There were Twilifs and other creatures who were cursed by a woman called Ruin; she was a bad person indeed...

Then when Filante saw how the back was only being spread by Corwin's hands, he set the bowls down and looked at them. "PHEW!! You just got ash all over you!!" filante chuckled slightly, though he still looked like he was scared, andrenaline rushing. "Haha, here. Let me get a towel and clean you up before you touch the food. don't want to eat ash soup, do you?" Filante toddled off to the counter again, asking for a wet cloth.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 24, 2010 9:44 pm

Light yellow, with ...what were those bits? Corwin tilted his head, smeared in ash. He backed up a little when Filante reacted so strongly. He seemed genuinely concerned, and Corwin couldn't figure it out. What was he saying? Cursed? "Hevn always said, 'Don't think of it like a curse,' though!" And he stared, blank for a second. "Oh... we're not talking about the same thing." Corwin laughed nervously, running his ash-covered hand through his hair, "But... what are the cursed? Thank you for the food, by the way. No wait don't--" and before Corwin realized it, Filante was at the counter again. Corwin sulked by the fire, although he was grateful for Filante's help, and he stared into the chowder, sniffing it.

"Ash soup? Hmm... how bad could that be?" Corwin, thinking that Filante was preoccupied, tenderly licked one of his fingers. He didn't mind the taste at first, and then it was kind of gritty, and kind of unpleasant, and he couldn't get it off his tongue and he sat there making weird faces, trying to swallow the taste out. He hoped Filante got back with the towel soon, because whatever the bits in the corn chowder were, they had to be better than the ash.

Teetering back witha damp blue washcloth, Filante rubbed the smeared ash off of Crowin's hands and face, and ruffled his hair to get some out of there, too. After being "washed up" filante nodded in approval. But when he saw Corwin making funny faces, he snickered. "What's with all the faces Corwin?" Filante began to laugh a bit. Sitting beside him again, he finally handed Corwin the small bowl of yellow with a spoon on the edge. "Make sure you blow on it first, it's still kind of hot."

One of Filante's stars from his aura floated on lazily by near corwin, almost landing in his chowder. "Go on, try it! It's got potatoes, corn, bacon, and a few bits of bread crumbs. It's delish!" Filante took a spoonful into his mouth. He let out a warm sigh. That sure did hit the spot!

Corwin winced and allowed himself to be subjected to the washclothing, still grimacing a little. "I sort of maybe tasted some ash to see what it would be like. I don't think it would make a good soup. No matter how hungry we might get." He looked incredibly serious. Either that or totally blank; his face was nearly devoid of any emotion at all. It wasn't on purpose, though; as soon as Filante handed Corwin the bowl, he smiled again. This was nice. Even if the soup had ...floaties in it. Corwin snorted when Filante told him to blow on it, though, taking the spoon in his right hand. Voila, temperature controlled soup. At least having to carry the night's chill inside him worked that way, too.

Corwin eyed the star from Filante's aura, which seemed to be floating perilously close to his chowder bowl, and debated whether or not he could eat that, too. No, probably not. That would probably also be frowned upon. He sighed and, moving the chowder bowl just a little so the haphazard star wouldn't drown, looked up to Filante with complete trust. Popped corn, popped corn, popped corn... He kept saying to himself. Then he took a bite.

His eyes widened. "Mmmf--" He squeezed that sound out before licking the spoon and taking another bite. And another. He was content. It tasted delicious. He had been wary, very wary, but Filante's meal choice had surprised him in a good way. When he had taken a few bites, and could finally set the spoon down for a second, he said, "This actually does taste good! Filante, I guess I can trust you." He grinned, so hard that he wasn't used to pulling his face that way.

Corwin radiated a balmy summer evening's heat, while eating contentedly, the cursed that Filante had spoken of earlier nearly forgotten.

Filante sat there, eating his chowder slowly. He couldn't control the temperature of his food like corwin could, which kind of made him a little... jealous. I wish I had a cool power like him. I'm just...starry. Filante poked one of the floating stars that passed by him and it also almost plopped right into his dinner, poking it away. It wobbled and floated on by around him, as all the other stars and the dark blue aura did. Filante sighed and continued to eat, watching the flames flicker in the oxygen.

When Corwin made a sound of what sounded like satisfaction toward his newly tasted dinner, Filante looked over and smiled a little. Corwin didn't seem like he was use to eating many foods. When he had told Filante about tasting the ash, his face kind of went blank too, why would you want to taste ash if you know it's not food? He wondered to himself for awhile before hearing Corwin agree with Filante's meal choice.

"Well, I would not offer you something I wouldn't eat! That would be just cruel and unfair towards you!" Filante sounded shock that Corwin was only now saying he could trust him. He hadn't earlier, when he led him in to the warm INN? Or wiped his face clean??

Corwin ran his cold hand through his hair, and amended his earlier statement after Filante sounded so shocked, "You know... I followed you into the woods, met your sister, kept following you into a town I've never been, was grateful you gave me food... I've pretty much trusted you since I met you." Corwin stared at his food, stirring it with his spoon. He never said anything right, even when he was trying to tell someone something important to him. He put the spoon down and ran first his cool hand then his warm hand through his hair.

Filante's aura was beautiful, and he imagined that it didn't fill Filante with the frozen chill that his own gift did. He wondered what it was like inside the aura, with all those swirls of starry night sky. Corwin suddenly realized he should have offered earlier to cool Filante's soup off, he just wasn't used to anyone even potentially wanting his heat or cold. "I'm...sorry I didn't ask earlier, is your chowder cool enough to eat? I should have helped."

Mostly, Corwin felt guilty. Seemed like all he'd done since meeting Filante was be some kind of burden. Ah, and maybe it was the cold in him wrestling him down again. He pushed back with his heat, but sometimes, even for him, it was hard to make those little bad thoughts go away.

He looked up at Filante and said, "I'm sorry." He left it at that, his mouth a little open like he wished he could have said more. He reached one hand out, brushed Filante's hand with his warm fingers, and withdrew it, running his cold hand over his forehead.

Filante looked a little lost, an upset lost. But when he heard Corwin reassure that he trusted him since he met him back in the forest, well, it help soothed him a little. But still, he felt restless for some odd reason. Strange, since the moon wasn't out, and there was nothing to be feeling bad about, yet he just seemed to not rest fully after having that thought in his head. I thought Corwin didn't trust me, but he sounds sad. I didn't mean to sound mean... Filante slurped a spoonful of chowder noisily while in thought. The woman at the counter telling him to hush and eat quietly, "Ah! So sorry!" he yelped back and gazed at the fire. His face looking mopey...

When Corwin asked if his chowder was a fine temperature, Filante nodded on auto-reaction. His mind seemed troubled now over this one little thing! He should of just shook it out of his head! but filante can linger on a trouble of doubt for a long while; maybe that was just one thing him and Etoile had in common, a long moping time. He felt the warm heat of Corwin on his hand for a bit, and looked over. "I'm okay. Don't mind me too much."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 5:05 am

Corwin set his soup aside. "No," he said, "I don't think you are okay at all." And Corwin could feel the coldness wriggling around inside Filante. He did something a little strange, then: he circled his arms around Filante, even though it was more of a medical thing than affection, and pressed a little of his heat into the starry Twilif from every inch of skin that connected them. "Please don't be upset with me. You're the only friend I have, and I know I don't say things right. Until recently, I only had Hevn to talk to, and now that he's gone... I'm not sure what to do." Corwin's heat flared, in an effort to stamp out that fear, and he let go of Filante, rubbing his face with his cold hand.

Corwin made sure that Filante's soup had not gotten too cold, warming part of the bowl, and then clasped his hands, looking mostly at the fire and the floor. He looked up at Filante again, and did his best to smile, with all his heart. Maybe he could make his own cold go away, maybe he could coax Filante out of his... Whatever happened, he just didn't want Filante to go where Etoile was. Somewhere Corwin couldn't reach him, except through cold.

The warmth from Corwin's "hug" snapped Filante out of his cold state of mind it seems. he blinked and patted Corwin's arms with a smile on his lips. "Thank you corwin. but really, I'm fine now." He nodded assuringly, picking up his chowder to resume filling his tummy with some warm food. Though it had cooled during his moping, Corwin heated it back up. How nice of him.

Looking over he saw the blue Twilif staring back into the flames of the fire and then turn a bit to smile at him. Even though Corwin was a little awkward, it was just because he was still new to all this; this world, the way things worked, this chill in the air. Corwin would grow use to it in time, yet Filante still couldn't help but wonder who this person Corwin was looking for was. what was he or she to him? A mother/father-figure, like Etoile was to her little friend Oswald? Maybe he would find out in time...
PostPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 5:53 pm

Corwin blushed a little, which, on his dark skin, made his markings glow faintly. He felt a little silly, but he realized that Filante was feeling maybe a little better. Corwin returned to his chowder, content, feeling a little less useless maybe. Interacting with others was harder than he had figured, no matter how much he wanted to behave normally with them. Would it ever be easy? He really wasn't sure, but he was willing to try.

All of a sudden, mid-spoonful, Corwin snorted. He turned to Filante, beamed again, and said, "You're like my lucky star," his eyes shining again. He laughed and took another spoonful, scraping the sides of his bowl. He had definitely eaten that pretty fast. His eyes kind of glazed over in contentment, and he leaned near the fire, watching Filante's aura. Somehow, the stars in their inky sky made him feel comfortable. Maybe it was from all those nights sleeping outside under the night sky, Hevn telling him stories of constellations. He liked being around Filante; when he was near Filante, he could remember Hevn, who had been like an older brother to him. He could remember a lot of things that he had forgotten entirely. His reason for wandering roads at night, his reason for craving heat, his reason for being so awkward... He could remember things.

"Filante? Do you... remember anything, about your past? What came before this?"

Blushing pink compared to his tannish skin, Filante couldn't believe he heard Corwin say that. Lucky Star, how cute! He placed his chowder bowl doen and fidgeted slightly, "Th-Thanks Corwin. Noone's ever complimented me here on Earth." Glancing over, he smiled sheepishly through his rosy cheeks.

"Do I remember anything from before I cam here? Oh I do~ I remember MANY things~" a twinkle showed in Filante's eyes. seems like he had a story to tell. "Would you like to hear my memories?"
PostPosted: Sun Mar 28, 2010 8:53 am

Corwin blushed equally when Filante did, and thanked him. He smiled through it, and his eyes shone like liquid metal again when Filante offered to tell him about his memories. Corwin didn't have a lot he could recall just yet, he wondered what life for Filante had been like.

"Please! I'd love to hear them," he answered. Corwin nearly squirmed with anticipation, clasping his cool and warm hands together.

"Well, I am guessing you must be asking me this since you can't remember very much of your own, but you know what? It's alright. Somewhere or something on this Earth will trigger you to remember. Believe me. I only remember because, well, that trigger was the stars... and I could see them perfectly from my descent from them to here." He poked one of the golden stars floating about him, it lit up a bit, then floated on by as the aura had done this whole time.

"I'm sure you don't remember what it's like up there, in the dark that people call 'space.' But I do. For the most part, it is a lonely place devoid of life, except for being's like us. Moon folk. We inhabit almost any planet and area you could imagine! why, when I was a adult, a Constellation, as they call us here, I was revered as a God. Many Constellations, when we Twilifs make it to that form, become Gods or Goddesses to the Earth beings here. When I grow here, it will be as if I am the God of all the stars here! Especially the ones that fly!!" Filante's voice rumbled slightly, it was a bit surprising! Calming down and looking to Corwin, he asked, "Have you ever seen a flying star? Well, I mean, all stars 'fly' since they're in the sky above us. But I mean a shooting star. Have you seen one since being here?"
