"I died?" Jada almost wailed it, moving over towards the bed until the voice of Mrs. Collins paused her in her tracks- as well as the need to dodge a pillow. "Oh no, Ma'am. I'm not allergic to anything so far. I don't like eggs much though." an odd look crossed her face. "How did I die? Did a monster get me? Monsters can attack you without you attacking them first?"
That wasn't fair! "What happens when I die? Do I have to start over?" Jada looked at the screen, anxious. A little gray figure was on there. "Am I a ghost?" It was her character! "What do I do when I die?" What if she lost all her stuff? "And what do you mean by squishy? OH. Wait. Like a clothie, that means I am... ummm..." she frowned. "I have bad armor?" was that right?
She glanced back at the older woman in the door. "But yes, dinner would be fabulous. I want to do Audrey's hair before we go to the movie." she beamed at Mrs. Collins. "It's only fair, right?"

Audrey's scowl turned to a wide grin as she hopped up and threw her arms around her softer parent. "Sorry mama, I promise I'll make sure you're not around next time." It was an old apology, something that was a bit of an in-joke. Once, when five years old, young miss Audrey had gotten caught with her hand in the cookie jar right before dinner. While being scolded, she'd replied in the most serious manner possible, that she was sorry and would be sure to make sure she didn't get caught next time. It had utterly charmed her parents and since then had been used to apologize for minor infractions of the house rules.
The hug didn't last long as her glamorous friend started having a mild fit of hysteria over her poor character. "Jada. Jada. Don't worry! It'll happen a lot, and since you're so low-level, you don't lose anything. You just have to follow that gold and red arrow, see it?" It was obviously pointing to a brown box with a cross etched into it. "That's your body. You just run back in close to it and you'll be alive again. But we'll worry about that after dinner ok? Don't want you to randomly die again." One finger tapped the corner of the television and the picture died before Audrey's tiny hand grabbed the brunette's, pulling her away.
"C'mon, you can help with dinner. Have you ever cooked before? Do you know how to boil water? I'll teach you!" Shelley even joined in on this, and soon poor Jada was surrounded by lively, chattering female and quite a bit of warmth. There may have only been three of them, but there was a whole lot of love in the Collins household. Tonight, there would be four!
