The taut tone that usually meant someone was -pissed-. He didn't like Z being upset. He didn't like it even -more- when Z was upset at him. Demy followed along, shoulders slumped and gazed focused on the ground.
"What kind of arrangement?..."
Besides, you know, 'don't kill your partner'.

"FIRST... your going to give me a little time to calm down that the person who 'loves' me tried to kill me in an alley way..." He said through clenched teeth. "I think even if you didn't -want- TO I am within my rights to be DAMNED irritated about that..." He turned and scowled at Dem like he would over his reading glasses, that, oddly was a good sign. It meant he was negotiating.
"Second... " he paused and a small smile twitched at the corner of his mouth.
"Second you don't ever call me a newbie again, Like it or not I just WHUPPED you with smoke pellets and a boot heel...we can bandage your ribs again in the room. So I...want... respect. You treat me with respect MAYBE others will too... we both know I'm the tactician so -I- plan.. you help execute said plans... sound good?"

To the first statement Demy gave a quiet "yes Z..." and a nod of his head. Right, Z was going to stay pissed at him over that for a while. If only he could make Z understand he just -didn't- have control. Whenever he went into his Negaverse form it was like he just...lost himself.
But he couldn't find the words to really explain this, and for now he simply let it go.
To the second statement the other part of his brain growled in frustration. Right, admit defeat -forever- because the midget got lucky in one fight.
Thankfully it was the more sensible, docile side of Demy that spoke up in reply.
"Soooo....kinda like what we have going on normally, just...uniform stuff? I can do that! Just...as long as you don't parade it all over you won man, cause I have my -own- problems earning respect around here..."
He -really- didn't need Z killing what little respect he had earned.

He paused, walking on in silence for a moment.

A long moment of silence as Z considered his next words.
"Weather a man is deemed right or wrong in the eyes of history, is determined by a very few things... First, was he respected, second...did he -win-... and third, if he did 'terrible things', the reasons for doing them."
He paused to let that sink in, hoped it would.
"My own... motivations may never be 'strictly' pure... but so long as we are not indiscriminate... then we can at least be sure of OURSELVES. History is written by the victors... let's try and write it shall we?"

He was sure the words were comforting, -somehow- at least. Z wouldn't stray him too far from the right path. Z would -never- do that. What his partner was saying however wasn't really sinking in all that well, mostly because Demy's thought process was currently going a mile a minute.
After his own long pause, he gave a slow nod and did his best to perk back up. He wasn't supposed to be the silent brooding one, he was supposed to be happy and hyper. Really it was just wrong of him to act any other way!
"If...you think that's what we should do Z, let's do it!"
All the confusion, the fear, the general uncertainty had been put away into Demy's version of the mental box, leaving behind the oblivious roommate Z was so very used to.

"But...isn't -our- team absolutely sure they're right? Aren't teachers? One of my teachers man looks like he'll hit you if you so much as ask a question during the lecture, he's always right you know? Or or..what about the police? Or doctors? They always act like they're right..."
Demy rambled on, one hand going up to rub at his hair absentmindedly.
"...Or your mom."

"Don't over think it Dem... We're the key elements in the equation, at least we have some idea what this side -wants-... never trust someone if you don't know what they expect to gain. Help is NEVER free."
He stared bitterly at the ground. "Theirs always a cost, something in return... people keep you around because your useful to them more often than theirs any actual -caring-...and as soon as someone new comes along, someone 'better'" he snarled his mind drifting after his father, his liaisons with new better people, new loves, new crushes when his promises were forgotten. "And they leave you behind... tarnished silver when they think the next person is gold."

Demy purred, suddenly beside Z and ruffling the shorter boy's hair.
"So enough thinking, enough grrrr-angry stuff, and enough being annoyed with me for this whole secret agent thingy. Want some tater tots? Cmooooon, I know you dooooo~"
Actually Demy was the one that wanted them, but he had had enough conversation for now.

"Yes Dem we can go get some tater tots..." he said in that tone of 'long suffering' that meant he'd agree to just about anything to make sure something he wanted happened, only he hadn't said what it was he wanted.
"Lets go home and get some... I have a lot to think about..."
