Got through the bit that was being difficult, but now I'm not sure where to go... again. I have one or two events that need to take place in this chapter, but I'm not sure what the rest of it will be yet. I think once I get through this chapter, I'll have several thousand words of "I know what I'm doing." That'll be a nice change.

Revisions on the other book worked out, and there were only a few line edits to get done, so it's good to go. Whew.
Moving forward slowly on the WIP. Had my husband get caught up on reading it and talked out where the scene was going. This is the rising action part of the book that's building up to an important discovery followed by the first major event of the book, so I need to make sure it's holding together. This book is really different from anything I've written before, so sometimes it's just hard to tell how it's going.

I saw you made a post in the announcement today. First thing I thought was, "I know her!"
In any case, glad to know your book is coming along. ^^

Yes, I got to write the first fashion article! And now my inbox is completely spammed, and I got 20 friend requests before I turned them off. xd
My book is definitely coming along, just not today. Today my word count progress was crap, but I did manage to figure out the other problem I was having with this chapter. The solution is cool and will add some great worldbuilding, but is also going to make things more complicated and probably add at least another chapter. But ultimately good! Just more of a pain than I was hoping.

I need to get back on track, big time! Thought I'd set myself up with some motivation, even though it's based on a goal I can't really control. XD
I've been sorta wanting a second dog. A puppy, maybe a larger breed, maybe another Boston Terrier. But we can't afford the expense right now, with only one of us working. (I swear this relates to writing eventually.)
I've been looking for work, but no luck so far, and it isn't looking great. So, made a little bargain with my husband that if I can finish and sell this book, I can buy a puppy.
xd
But the great thing about this whole idea? If it happens, it's not going to happen soon. The book's not even finished yet, much less ready to go, and we all know how long and uncertain the rest of the process can be.
That means I have a nice long term goal (and it's not like my current dog isn't enough, I just think he might enjoy having a buddy) and it puts off the dog discussion for a couple of years, since we aren't in a position to get one yet anyway.
And, of course, if I manage to get a job that leaves me with enough time and extra money to manage a new puppy, we'll revisit the subject.
First choice is golden retriever, second choice is another boston. ninja

Well, the thought of a puppy has only been so-so at motivating me. XD But we have decided when we do get one, it will be another Boston Terrier, just because of our small house and no yard.
I did get through one really frustrating little thing I've been stuck on in the book, and hopefully will start moving again soon. I'm only at 13k, that's sad! Because I was at 14k before I scrapped the first try. Ah, well, at least it's a lot better this time around, if slower going.

WIP is coming along very nicely. I love love love love having our new netbook to write on. My laptop is so big, heavy (over 6 pounds), has maybe 2 hours of battery life, and gets super hot. Normally this is no big deal, because I work with it on a desk and keep it plugged in. I also get paranoid taking it anywhere.
But the netbook is awesome. Weighs 2 pounds, meaning it's super easy to throw into a bag with whatever else I need. Runs cool--I had it on my lap all day with no problem. Battery life is great. I started working after breakfast and had it on pretty much all day.
It's turning into my primary writing computer because I can take it all over the house so easily (and out of the house, of course--got some work done when I got summoned for jury duty). And because I didn't bother to plug in our mouse, it's not as easy to get distracted by games.
I'm so glad we bought it. I've been getting so much writing done this week. Not that it's all because of the netbook of course. I'm really trying to focus on making progress and block out my submission anxiety. It's tough, but it's been over a month, and I can't just be anxious for months on end!

I already swore to get a notebook the next time I can afford something like that. Cheap ones are what, $200?
I may in the future want a dog. I have a preference for Dobermans myself. I definitely want (if I ever get situated and have the money to do it) to get either a puppy or a young one so I can train it more easily. Despite their fierce image, they are actually gentle around children, and if you train them from the start, they are loyal and friendly with you. Great Danes are my second choice.

Yep, our netbook is a refurbished one from Dell, looks brand new, and was $200. Honestly, we may end up with a second someday because this one was supposed to be for my husband to use, but I've been monopolizing it a little bit. xd
And dobermans and great danes are both awesome dogs.

Had my husband read through my latest chapter, we talked it over, and I have some good notes on how to fix it up and expand it so I can keep going. I think I'm actually nearing the halfway point!

Spent most of Tues/Wed critiquing someone's novel, but still managed to get writing done. So that means I don't have much in the way of excuses if I don't get this chapter rewritten today.
I'm nervous about the notes I sent back on the novel, though. I know the first person who read it didn't have much to say, and I made tons of notes. Hoping that doesn't come as too much of a shock. sweatdrop And hopefully my notes will be helpful
Hm, think I'll be on my main laptop today instead of the netbook. It's great for getting the initial words down, but the screen is a little small for doing revisions.

Finished the chapter I was working on. So much better in every way. Definitely better setting and characters and tension and everything. And changed the ending so now it will lead into more cool character interactions. Now I just need to get back to work. And since I'm already at 29k, I'm starting to suspect this will end up closer to 70-80k instead of the expected 55-60k. Hmmm.

About 1000 words today, and hoping to get more done tonight! There's one bit that might be a bit too info-dumpy, but it's a small section and I'll just fix it later. Right now I want to keep moving forward. cool
