Tallulah giggled and blushed slightly. "Thank you, sir Leontyne," she said, smiling. Loud enough for her mother to hear, she added, "You've been nothing but a gentleman."
She smirked at him for a moment then pulled him close enough to kiss him on the mouth, maternal chaperone be damned. Tallulah was feeling reckless and a bit giddy. "Thank you, brave sir Regulus," she whispered in his ear, still retaining a bit of her assumed role as mediaeval princess. "However I think the regents would like it if you went back out galavanting now."
She walked him back through the house and to the front door, where he got another kiss, which didn't entirely make up for how Angus glared at him over the evening paper.
"It was so nice of you to come," said Nellie, who sounded like she meant it, even if her husband didn't necessarily agree.

"Thank you for having me over." He offered Nellie a polite handshake, and since Angus had, perhaps deliberately, tied up his hands with a newspaper shield, a respectful nod, trying to ignore the glare. "It was very nice to meet both of you, and dinner was excellent. I hope you have a great night." It was the best bow out he could think of on such notice, though he thought it wasn't half bad. "See you, Tal. Good luck with that cookie-dough-Quest!"
