Evari didn't notice that she was being watched, enjoying the sandwich she made for once. Mmm! Maybe she'd start making these for herself at home! It tasted so much better to eat something she made herself! Though she didn't think Xai would let her make anything more complicated than a simple sandwich. Oh well! She was okay with that. She was still eating away contently at her sandwich as Faris smiled and very casually suggested what they had been planning to do for awhile, managing to put on a look of surprise. Whoa! Neat tables? What a surprise! Who would've thought? Nope, not Evari! She'd never heard of these tables! Gee, Faris! She'd love to see these awesome tables she had never heard of before! "Whooooa, really? How's a table neat? I wanna see!" Evari said around her sandwich, swallowing her bite and wiping her mouth with her sleeve. "That sounds fun~! Let's--huh?"
Luis' suggestion and promise worked! For now. Evari blinked and turned to stare up at Luis with genuine surprise now, blinking a few times. Help bake the cake? They could do that? ...And lick the bowl!? Heck. Yes. "OKAY~!" Evari gasped, turning to Faris with wide eyes. "We can lookit the tables later, right? Cake!" Who could say no to cake? Cake was awesome! Nothing was better than cake. Nothing!

"The tables are awesomes cause they've been theres for evers!" Faris explained with wide eyes as she ate at her sandwich but she was getting thirsty now! She wandered to the fridge and got a couple juiceboxes and offered Evari one before she went to open up her own, all with her sandwich hanging out of her mouth because she didn't want to place it down. Once the straw was in she took a bite of her sandwich she was holding and held it in one hand and took a sip of her juice. That was better!
Faris stared at her mother for a long moment after the offer was made. Huh! That was eerily timed but she couldn't quite put her finger on as to why. Other than it might be vaguely related to something but the temptation to be allowed to lick the beaters and the bowls smothered any suspicions she might have and nodded excitedly, "Yes! We helps!"
Luis got them set up with their tasks and then disappeared for a few moments without even explaining where she went off to. When questioned about her mother's disappearing act, all the Gargoyle could do was shrug and continue mixing the batter in her bowl. For some the single layer cake turned into a double layer cake, yay last minute changes? It just meant more cake! So again Faris didn't feel suspicions because who could argue with more cake? She couldn't.
When the Satyress returned she let out a content sigh. The tables were covered with table cloths and the cloths were stapled onto the tables and all was well. Having all those workers and bar patrons paid off majorly at the moment, "Woo! Tha' need t'use the bathroom suddenly snuck up on meh! Funny how that happens eh girls?" she said as she washed her hands and then moved to join them, "Got the batter all mixed?"

Evari had accepted the juicebox and was happily sipping away at it while Luis prepared the ingredients and things that they would probably have trouble doing themselves. But once it was ready for them to actually make the cake Evari was quick to finish her juice and set it aside, excitedly taking up any task that was given to her. She did find it odd that at one point Luis just suddenly vanished, unsure of where she had gone since Evari had been so focused on the cake she hadn't even realized Luis had left until she looked up and the woman was suddenly just gone! How strange. Oh well, she'd be back. They needed her help with...stuff like the oven! Or something. She didn't question it or complain when the cake suddenly became a two layer cake, in fact she cheered and nearly nearly spilled the batter jumping with joy. Oops! That would've been bad!
When Luis suddenly returned saying she'd been gone that long because she had to pee Evari blinked, looking very confused. She'd been gone all that time because she had to pee? Geeze! In that time they could've read all the tables by then! Suspiiiiciooooous. "Uh huh! S'all mixed. Right, Rissy?" Though Evari did have a little batter on her face. While Luis had been gone she'd decided to try using the mixer herself, and managed to get some of it all over her face and on anyone and anything around them. There was still more than enough to make a two layer cake, but they'd had to have one of the cooks in the kitchen run over and sort out the quick moment of chaos. Hey, the batter on her face had been delicious though. She couldn't wait to have more!

Faris stared at her mother upon her return there was a smudges of cake batter on Faris' face and clothing from Evari's little experiment. Faris even encouraged the attempt much to the dismay of the surrounding cooks which found they were suddenly in charge of looking after the girls. Way to be informative Luis...
The Gargoyle nodded in agreement with Evari, "Yis! All mixeded!" Faris agreed excitedly as she held up the bowl to her mother for inspection. Luis stared at them before she nodded a bit and got out the baking pans for the cake and got them greased up and laid them down on the counter. One for Evari and one for Faris she even handed them rubber spatulas to scrape the batter as much or as little as they wanted.
"I see ye tried the mixer," Luis observed and the cooks around the kitchen uttered small grumbles and nodded. They knew all too well how THAT went.

She either didn't notice or just didn't care that the cooks were less than pleased with Evari's obviously brilliant idea. Stirring with a spoon had taken far too long, and it wasn't making the batter look like how it should look. So they obviously needed the mixer! It was the only way to do it! Just would've been nice if there had been...a lid or something. Oh well! She let Luis take the batter, grinning with pride. "Yup! The spoon wasn't doin' any good." She explained to Luis quite seriously, gleeing when she was handed a rubber spatula and had a pan set down on the counter in front of her. The spatula was bendy!
It's very hard to entertain this girl.
Under Luis', and the cooks, watchful eyes the girls were given the bowl of batter and shown how best to scrape and pour it into their pans. This would probably have been a bit more useful had the girls not been greedy Sugar Hounds...and had the batter not already been lessened thanks to Evari's genius idea. The pans were anything but evenly filled, in fact it didn't look like this cake was going to be very big judging by how much of the batter actually made it into the pans. But hey, Evari was happy, Faris was happy, and more importantly the adults were happy this step hadn't turned into a mess like the last one. And the tables were also forgotten for now. Let's not forget that!
Evari held the bowl in one arm when they were done filling the pans and the cakes were put into the oven, standing with Faris so she could get at the batter as well and using her spatula to scoop up some of the batter bit by bit. It. Was. Delicious. If this was what baking a cake was always like this she wanted to do it every day! "What do we do now?" Evari asked as she licked at her spatula, blinking a bit. The cakes wouldn't be done for awhile, right? So how were they supposed to entertain themselves in the meantime?

Unlike the cooks Luis seemed much more amused and laughed, "Welp, thas th' only way y'learn aye?"
Her philosophy was obviously to let children be children so she didn't chide the children or even seem displeased. So long as neither of the girls played with something dangerous or put their hand in the blender all was perfectly fine and Luis was all too happy to let the girls do and experiment however they wish. Naturally the cooks did not share her philosophy but they had no right to complain since she gave them their pay each week.
It kept the girls away from the tables. That was another bonus.
Faris cheered a bit as they managed to get most of the batter into the pans and was now contently standing next to her friend and licking the spatula she had with her tail swishing side to side behind her. Nothing was more awesome than this moment right here as she watched her mother put the cake pans into the oven for the girls. Her ear twitched as she learned Evari's voice, "Weeeeee cans go explores the main room and look at the tableses now, yis~!"
Luis held back a small smile, she had outwitted them, she hoped. There were now tablecloths on the table. The Satyress had worked everyone up into a tizzy to get that done while the girls were busy, "Aye, sure, go explore girls~."

Right! The tables! Evari's eyes were wide, nodding her her vigorously. She was quick to ask Luis if she could take the bowl with her since there was still some batter left, because Evari intended on licking this thing clean. Once she had permission she hurried out the kitchen with Faris and the bowl, not surprised that Luis was just allowing them to roam free. She didn't know anything of their plans! This table reading was totally not obvious or known to anyone but her and Faris. Nopenope. There was no way Luis could stop them. None at all.
...Okay apparently there was.
Evari blinked and stared at the first table they came across, licking the spatula and tilting her head. There was a giant...cloth on the table. And there were people at it. And stuff on it so the table cloth couldn't be moved. Evari looked at the next table just a little way's away. And another. They were all covered! But...but when they were out here before there wasn't anything covering the tables!
"How did...when did..." Luis! She must have somehow known! So this was why she left! Evari pouted. "Yer momma lied to us. She didn't go pee at all!" A betrayal of the worst kind!

Luis watched her handiwork from the doorway as the girls and their bowls exited the kitchen and made their little discovery about the tables. The Satyress smiled and was very pleased with herself.
Faris gazed over the tables and her face just went blank for a long moment though the tip of her tail was twitching furiously betraying how the small gargoyle felt for the moment. Her ear twitched when she heard Evari's words and she turned to stare at her friend and slowly nodded and then turned to stare at her mother with a small frown and simply uttered, "Cheats," before she put a firmer arm around her bowl and reached for Evari's hand.
Everyone was weighing down the table cloths and there was too much ON the tables to really bother lifting them or doing anything that way, even her mother was watching them, "Let'ses go upstairs," Faris said primly.
Luis just chuckled.

Evari looked up to find Luis was watching them from the door to the kitchen. She pouted a little and put her head on Faris' shoulder. Mean Luis! Setting this up! It was like she didn't want the girls to read the tables! What was so bad about reading a few words? Geeze. What a meanie. "Let's." Evari replied with a huff, standing up straight and giving a tiny 'hmph!' as she gave Faris' hand a squeeze and walked back toward the stairs with her, cake batter and all. It was almost completely gone but she didn't want to go to the kitchen where Mean Luis was still lurking about. They could come back for cake later!
The girls wandered back upstairs and finished off the cake batter, leaving their things to the side so they didn't have to go back to Luis the Terrible and instead played with their DSes a bit more. There was much cuddling and hugging, and then finally after a bit of cake followed by dinner the two girls spent a little time playfully bothering Critter who seemed very defensive toward a particular umbrella before finally just falling asleep. It wasn't hard, their sugar highs from the cake and the general excitement of the day helped quite a bit...albeit it was rather late by the time they fell asleep clinging to each other but at least they did eventually.

Luis only laughed at the pair even as they wandered upstairs. She would humor them with something else later, perhaps anything dealing with the cake and what they had for dinner. The tables were the only thing she wasn't going to budge on at this moment. The words and things that were carved on them were inappropriate for young eyes. Luis would be damned if her friend's daughter came home with an arsenal of questions about what certain words meant. If anything Xai should thank her.
Once upstairs the cake batter was had and it was delicious and then they played with their DSes together which Faris loved dearly that her friend enjoyed her gift so much. The cuddling and hugging was accented with light innocent chattering, the Gargoyle was comfortable in her friend's presence and could tell Evari anything and everything, even where she was ticklish at the base of her wings...Which got taken advantage of, unfortunately. After eating and then playfully torturing Critter they wore off their sugar highs and Faris pretty much fell asleep with her best friend flopped onto her after another half-hearted attempt to tickle her. They both clung to each other as they slept loathe to see the other go away in the morning.
